An update for some of you Miracleman completionists...I received a PM from Tom Gordon the other day asking me to call him. I did and it was in regards to the information I sent him on the Miracleman 3D Special (2D Version). He had a few questions for me about identifying copies.

 

I'm pretty sure it will be appearing in the upcoming Overstreet. Hopefully, some more copies will surface due to the breakout and comments.

Thinking about OS, they do under-price a number of issues I think - especially 23 and 24. Though I recently got a BIN for 21-24 for just $19.99.

I sold a 23 recently for £40/$90.

Should there be any adjustment this year?

That is an absolutely amazing price for a 23! I don't know if OS will budge much though - they tend to lag behind on pricing trends for comics in the past 20 or so years.

Leach is still in the U.K. I got them through one of his colleagues at A1 and 2000 A.D., Rufus Dayglo. Rufus has a CAF page - here's the link:

Rufus sells some of Garry's OA, and he's got some of it for sale on CAF (and he might have some more by now). If you can't get him through the CAF contact, e-mail/PM me and I'll send you his e-mail address. He is extremely easy to deal with and quite friendly, so I would at least give it a shot to get the Miracleman pages you have signed (nice stuff! - I'd love a page or two from the original series!). The Miracleman sketch I got was not a commission but it was a pin-up he did for the A1 Sketchbook. I'm not sure if Garry is doing commissions again - but I had heard that he is getting ready to start again.If/when he starts, I'd love to get some more stuff from him. pkveronese, that MM A1 sketchbook is such a thing of beauty it's not even funny. That book is certainly one of a kind. I don't like signed books, but this one is the exception.

It's kind of like with getting signed baseball's from pro baseball players. If Barry Bonds signs the ball, it's cool, but there's a bunch signed that way. But if he signs it with his middle name or something out of the ordinary, then it's a million times more interesting and special. Well I think it's safe to say that your A1 than most of the other ones out there:)

I bet I've got a signed version of the A1 Sketchbook nobody else has got -

My wife got me the original art for the cover and the back cover (the Miracleman and Bates pin-ups) for Christmas and they arrived today. She got them through Rufus Dayglo (one of Leach's buddies and a darn good artist in his own right!) and this was in the peackage when I opened it today .

I've heard of $100 to $200, but I do not know of a recent sale.

That's so cool. Its almost like a whole other story that way.

What do you guys think of OA not from the Miracleman series, but that has Miracleman appearances on the page (like from the Total Eclipse series / HellSpawn, etc.)?

I like the -script and pencil scans. I've seen them on eBay, but I keep waiting for a website to post some. The OA for the page you posted the pencil scan of went for $3600 on ebay a couple of months ago - a little too rich for my tastes.

 

 

The price they want for the -script and art scans on eBay is a bit ridiculous in my opinion. I mean $250.00 for copies of the original pages is a bit much but original Moore scripts are hard to come by.

 

Does anyone here have any original Moore scripts?

Okay, I'm interested but also a bit confused. Any clues on the best place to find the A1 Sketchbook with Miracleman? It looks like Mile High has them at $12. I've never seen one elsewhere.

 

I have been unable to find any in online comic stores, but MH does list them on ebay for waaaaaaay cheaper, although they have not listed any in the past 2 weeks...not that I would buy anymore anyways

and they are also signed versions...which appear much easier to get stateside (EwanUK, thoughts? )

Nope, its not that over (that's the regular one). The variant (here's a link - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...%3AIT&rd=1) has a sketch cover by Garry Leach. There are two versions of the variant, a signed version and an unsigned version, and it looks like the signed version is actually easier to get. I hope that answers what you needed - if not, we'll get a better answer to ya. - Keith

I bought my sketchbooks from midtown comics. Originally it was on their website, but when I went to buy 2 copies it was listed as backordered. I figured there was no way they were gonna get me any copies. Well low and behold, they found 2 copies and I got them today. This book is sweet! I'm gonna take the better of the two and get it slabbed along with my MM #15 and MM #24, which are both in pristine condition.

 

I think the the sketchbook was born to be slabbed with that awesome front and back cover.

I know - the book would look nice slabbed (especially after seeing the pics of EwanUK's 9.8). Were these issues signed? Does anybody know if CGC would give them a qualified grade if they are?

Hey guys just a question since you all are big MM collector's too: Can anybody think of some other MM or MM related books worth adding to my collection? Here's what I have:

MM 3-D

Apocrypha 1-3

MM Family 1,2

A1 Sketchbook (2 copies on the way in the mail as we speak)

 

I've heard that A1 #1 has a warpsmith story by Moore and that Neil Gaiman wrote a MM story in Total Eclipse #4. Any other books I should keep an eye out for?

Miracleman was in Total Eclipse 1-3 too (I think at least...). You might want to get the X-men Archives: Captain Britain #2 too, since it reprints Daredevils #7 (which, along with the Marvel Superheroes issues, I would get too). If you want to get the McFarlane stuff, you could get the HellSpawn issues with Mike Moran in them, the Image 10th Anniversary Hardcover and Spawn #150 (both "Man of Miracles" references). I want to say I'm forgetting some stuff, so everybody else chime in if they think of anything - Keith

I can't believe the unsigned ones are so hard to find. Its really strange.

I know this is probably dorky, but what color ink are the signature's on everybody's copies? I've got a green signature and a black one.

The MSH 387 and 388, as well as the Daredevils 7, are impossible to find. I've been looking for years - I've found a Daredevils 7, but not the other two.

I've been looking for those3 for a while as well - they seem next to impossible to find. Has anyone in the UK had any better luck or are they tough to find over there as well?

That Black Johnny might be the absolute worse BWS art I have ever witnessed...maybe he worked with his left arm that day...yikes...
