  1. Wasn't planning on it, but a local LCS owner gave me a flyer. Have you been to this event before?
  2. Yep. Her job is close enough for lunch break runs to the lcs, where she has her own pull list. She picked this one just for the cover.
  3. Did you make the flower yourself? It's a really cool idea.
  4. I haven't followed AH, but these pictures are definitley showing me I've missed a lot of great work. My wife came home yesterday after hitting the LCS, said she found a new book and picked an awesome variant cover, turns out it was AH!
  5. I haven't seen Baby Driver, but I really like her performance as Santanico on the Dusk 'til Dawn TV show. She probably has potential to pull off a decent Catwoman. She would also be great as La Muerta...
  6. It's always neat to find easter eggs on DVD/Blu-Ray releases but sometimes you wonder how the heck people found them. I recently re-watched Terminator 2 Ultimate Edition DVD, and remembered a sweet easter egg on this version. On the DVD menu, type in the date of judgement day 8/29/97 to get the "extended" special edition cut. Never would have found that without google. From hiddendvdeasteregg.com The hidden alternate version is 156 minutes. It contains the Future Coda ending and the cut of the movie is the special edition. To get to this third cut of the movie, click on "Special Edition" from the main menu. Highlight "Play Special Edition" and press 82997 on your remote. The words "The Future Is Not Set" will appear in the right hand portion of the setup screen and the left eye of the Terminator will light up. Now you can click on "Play Extended Special Edition". I really like this version, the brushed metal slip cover is a nice touch. Any other extremely well hidden easter eggs that you guys like?
  7. I was also hoping to get the full Salvation trilogy. I can recommend both Cold War and Trial by Fire, both novels that are set after the events of the Salvation film. Also, Terminator Salvation: The Final Battle from Dark Horse was a good read.

I'm sorry to hear about that. You guys did a great thing by adopting, especially adopting an adult. Every year the local shelter gets an influx of rabbits about a month or two after Easter, people get them for their kids and then realize how much work it is, then off to the shelter they go. It's funny that you describe her as "dog like", all of ours act just like cats!! They are litter box trained, jump up on the couch when they want to be pet, and completely ignore you at other times. Keep up the good work! If you have any pictures to share, that would be cool.

Yea 10 years is fairly long for a rabbit, but it was a damn good 10 years. Thank you for reading and responding.

    Birthday Books

So i got my first birthday book as a gift this year. Blade Runner #1 (October 1982). I think next year, Wolverine would make a great birthday book. Any other October 1982 books to look out for? Feel free to share your b-day books as well, always nice to see.

I want to share a quick story about losing a pet this weekend, and pass along and inspirational poem with other animal lovers. Over the weekend we had to put our 10-year old bunny Woody to sleep. Back in August this year, he had a cancerous lump removed from his belly, did extremely well in recovery (for his age), but within a few weeks the lump started to grow again. Eventually his body began to shut down on him, and we stepped in to take away the pain. When another of our pets passed last year, the following poem was shared with us, we found the poem very helpful, and still read it from time to time when we think about our friends who have left us. Just t his side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown... R.I.P. Woody
  14. Thank you for trying to explain divad. I am aware of some of the crazy prices on moderns today, especially the variant craze. As I understand, many of these books don't have the intrinsic "value" (first appearances, etc.) of GA/SA, many times with the "manufactured" rarity being the selling point rather than the contents of the book and it's significance.
  15. Gee I'm so happy I was able to play matchmaker for you two... But for real, if there is a history lesson to be learned, share it, i.e. do YOUR part to keep things relevant. Have a good weekend!
  16. Maybe i'm just having a bad day. If you want to politely explain your interpretation, and any shortcoming you see in my comment, I'm all ears.
  17. So because i was unaware of this 3-panel comic strip, does that mean I can't spend money on comic books to keep them going?
  18. Thanks. I was thinking that at first, but figured it was something more esoteric. There is still fresh blood in the hobby, I'll be 35 this weekend and I'll be doing my part to keep it relevant.
  19. I'm trying to find the correlation, but I think it's lost on me. Zippy the Pinhead... never seen it, I was expecting a sideshow character.
  20. Newb as well! AFAIK when you 1:100 or 1:2000 you are talking about a retailer variant. So 1:100 means for every 100 "regular" copies of the book a retailer orders, they can then order one (1) variant. Lots of great information available from the community here.
  21. If you have an recent Marvel/DC books (the $4.99 priced books) usually have a digital code included in the back of the book, see if you can find one in the collection and read the digital version for "free" to give it a try. I still prefer physical copies, but with the right tablet/device these things look amazing. Someone already mentioned the large iPad Pro, and I can recommend the new Asus ZenPad 3S 10 as an android alternative, under $300 for a 9.7" screen with plenty of power.
  22. Looking forward to see what happens.
  23. kdog - a follow up to your thought...
  24. Thanks for sharing the report and photos, good times!! I found it funny that MF Doom was there with the mask on, because people that might get recognized sometimes go to cons in costume to avoid being recognized, but with Doom It's the mask that is recognizable.
