  1. Now we move on to the Dr. Strange issue. I usually prefer raw over CGC, but this year it seemed like nothing but slabs were coming my way. Here are the rest of the books that Fred sold me (I think these all came from him, but I be wrong on one or two of them): #113 - 8.5 (ok, not a Dr. Strange issue) #120 - 8.5 #123 - 9.0 #125 - 9.0 #126 - 8.5 #134 - 9.0 Bethlehem
  2. I had been thinking that 2007 wasn't a very good year for advancing my Strange Tales collection. Tonight I decided to actually check this out. I am a big Dr. Strange fan and collecting Strange Tales 110-168 lead me, at some point, to stupidly decide to put the entire run together. Just focusing on the Silver Age issues I counted what was added to my collection in 2007 and realized that it may have been my best year ever. I figure a little boasting never hurt anyone so I am going to share. Up until a few weeks ago I only owned one issue between 101 and 109, but our own Frederic made me a nice deal on all the following: #102 - 8.0 #103 - 8.0 (Mass copy) #104 - 8.5 #107 - 8.5 #109 - 8.5
  3. I wonder if this could even be published today for news stand distribution? I bet it would raise a real stink if it was.
  4. Kudos to Qualitycomix, Frederic9494 and Blue808 for some really nice books and to Blue808 for taking a return no questions asked. Also kudos to the following buyers for following through with quick payments: Dawgwindu, Comcasthawk, rtarturo, old man, mjacobs and topofthetotem. Special kudos to mjacobs for understanding my shipping mistake. Thx to all! Mike
  5. Although this is may be a good idea, I don't think that it is practical. I try and ship within a couple of days of selling a book, but it still takes at least two weeks from Canada to the U.S. via regular mail (which most buyers want). If the cutoff date is two weeks it will force me to charge all buyers for expediated service. I think four weeks is a good time period because it gives a few days to box and mail while still allowing up to three weeks for delivery (I've never had a package take longer than that). Mike
  6. Belated Kudos to the following: Sellers Johnny G Apotheosis Qualitycomix Buyers *bronze age fan* Aces Annihilus Bronzed Jbone Comcasthawk CycloneComics Divad ernster Foolkiller Lizards2 October r1970d rtarturo Topofthetotem Thanks to all! Mike
  7. I haven't picked up anything recently, but someone must have a nice book or two to show us. Mike
  8. Nice set of books Angelo! Are you collecting the run? Mike
  9. Newest addition to the collection - an old label CGC 8.0 with OW pages.
  10. Two steps closer to 135-168! Picked these up at the Toronto Con on Friday from Blazing Bob. Upgraded from a VF/NM copy Surprisingly hard to find in grade. This is a CGC 9.2. Still looking for a copy of 136 and an upgrade to 146. If you have either of these issues in NM- or better please let me know. Also, I have upgraded a few books recently and if any of you ST collectors are interested, I have the following raw books available: 138 VF, 142 VF+, 148 VF, 155 VF/NM, 157 VF/NM, 158 VF+ (pending), 160 VF, 162 VF/NM, 164 VF+. I'll have to put up a sales thread soon. Mike
  11. I'm slowly working on the entire run of ST starting at #1. At the rate I'm going it will take about 25 years to complete. I'll start focusing on 101-134 next and just pick up VF or better pre-hero books as they come along, which isn't often! PM sent concerning 135 and 158. Mike
  12. Just coincidence - filling holes and upgrading. It's always nice to grab pedigree books. I'd rather have a 9.2 pedigree than a regular 9.4. Now I need 136 and 166 in NM- or better to finish the 135-168. Finally I'll upgrade 146, 157 and 158 to have the whole run in NM- or better (although my 135 is borderline, sort of a 9.1). That will represent eight years of collecting if I can finish it this year. Mike
  13. My 135-168 run is about 2/3s raw, many of the copies being high enough grade that they don't need a CGC upgrade. I don't have any reason to slab them so a registry set would be impossible to complete as I don't expect to ever have more than 50% in CGC holders. I only have 12 books between 101 and 134 as I've never focused in that area. Mike
  14. Here's another recent purchase from Quality Comix: CGC 8.5
  15. Thanks brasseye!! I'm like a comic collecting black hole: when a book gets too close to me its history My collossal comic lust combined with my reckless spending create such an enormous pull that even light itself cannot escape!!!!!! That and I logged onto www.pedigreecomics.com and made some offers Great books Rich! BTW have you people seen the raw Mass. Fantastic Four on Collectors Assemble ? Great stuff ! It seems that Marnin is ready to sell some of his Mass. copies. Will we see some Pre-Nick Fury Mass. Strange Tales this year ? Thanks Frederic!! Yeah, I saw Marnin's books. Beautiful, but prices were Does he have some Mass ST's or is that just wishful thinking? Two of the books I just posted are Mass copies so I would assume Marnin has already sold at least the latter books in the run. Mike
  16. CGC 9.4 Boston Copy I have to assume the white at the top is on the case or it wouldn't have got a 9.4.
  17. I went a little crazy at Metropolis last week and picked up five new ST books. The first two fill holes and the last three are upgrades from raw VFs. Four of them are pedigrees. CGC 9.2 Mass Copy
  18. Kudos to Roy (r1970d) for four great Daredevils which can be seen in the Daredevil collecting thread in Silver Age. Mike
  19. OK, so this one isn't 1-50, but it is nice!
