Marvel's writing is better now than it was prior to Fresh Start. Al Ewing's Immortal Hulk is fantastic. Chip Zdarsky did a good job with Marvel 2-in -1. Cates is...well, everything he's touched has turned to gold. But the art...I can't believe Marvel doesn't have any supremely talented artists on its payroll. It's like DC has locked them all in to exclusives and holds a monopoly on artist contracts (Lee obviously, Capullo, Fabok, Reis, etc). I follow Brett Booth on insta and he's locked in to an exclusive contract but DC can't even find a decent project that they can both mutually agree on. There's this constant tug-a-war for talent and right now DC has more of it. Marvel needs to add a heavy hitter (like HIckman/Weaver).

The book started to jump when the Disney/Fox rumors intensified, and then again when the deal was finalized between the two companies. (Note, the deal still needs to be approved by the US agencies I believe, so it's not 100% a done deal yet). As soon as #48 went up, the other books in that first trilogy (#49/#50) began to increase as well. All on the premise that once under Disney/Marvel's control, the characters will eventually make cinematic appearances. I believe Feige has already said in interviews that he would love to get his hands on the characters and include them in the MCU.

How does CGC handle these maxiprint books? The binding is so fragile that if you open it, you could wind up with a readers crease. Do they just "judge a book by its cover" so to speak? (probably a speculative question and if i wanted a real answer, I should just go straight to the source...CGC)

I'm not sure how many people use click-thru sites to gain points on stuff, but I thought I'd share in case anyone is unaware of such things. I've been using a click-thru site called TopCashback.com which basically gives you 1.5% cash back for your eBay purchases. All you have to do is be logged in, and click-thru to eBay via their link before placing bids or making BIN purchases. Sometimes they run deals increasing the cash back percentage to like 2.25% (I think the highest I saw was 3%). Today I just realized that you can get additional bonuses when receiving your payout in the form of a gift card. Specifically, a 7% bonus when redeemed towards a Visa prepaid card. So basically, when I make purchases on eBay, I'm getting cash back/travel reward points by paying via my credit card, I'm getting 10% in eBay bucks, and I'm getting roughly a little more than 1.5% cash back via TopCashBack. Throw in the occasional eBay promo and you can slowly but surely save yourself a little bit extra.

Seems normal. When I began tracking my Economy and Modern books, Economy books were slated to take like 446 business days while Modern were expected to take ~30.

My response was directed at revat and a confirmation of human nature in the age of the internet. Whether it's this sub or reddit is irrelevant, the same issues permeate "forum" type websites all over. What you choose to post is your prerogative. The discussion and lessons that stem from your question and how you respond to them are the "teachable" moment in this instance. I have no beef with your post to be honest. It's something I've never encountered nor did I have an answer to it. And could have very easily been something I myself might find myself posting in the future (we're none of us immune to this...I imagine a look back at my post history will have some very easily answerable questions that come with age/experience). But I wanted to voice my agreement with revat's sentiments.

Don't ever go on reddit seeking help. There are so many posts in different subs where people seek the answer from strangers instead of doing a simple google search. The inability of some people to think critically and analytically for themselves in astonishing. People don't want to do the work themselves to get an answer. They just want the easy answer. And I'm sure we've all been there before, but I think it's helpful as a matter of establishing good habits, for people to learn how to find answers on their own. If you do the work and still can't find the answers, then by all means post and see what the "think tank" can come up with. I've said it before, and i'll certainly say it again, it's just one of those "teach a man to fish" kinda moments. (NOTE: I realize there are some specialized instances where the answer can't be found with a phone call or online (most opinion related inquiries or PGM threads for example), in those instances, i have no problem seeking out opinions/advice.)

I just started tracking my books out of necessity. I got tired of wondering if I had a book, buying it, and then coming home only to find it was there all along. I have ~3,100 books and can't be bothered to go through every book to determine a grade. It's hard enough determining the proper name/number with Marvel and their re-numbering. (For example, Mighty Thor and Thor are two different titles with their own volume numbers, but as far as legacy number goes, they all count as v1 issue number XXX.) Not only that, I'm going through and adding in writers/artists/cover artists for all books. Oh, and publication month/year. I know there are apps that do this, but I'm too cheap to pay for them. So I'll just sync with google docs so I can see what books I need while on the run. (or alternatively, I use the CLZ app to track the books I need)

I bought the Max Protection brand bags/boards once. You get what you pay for...and I don't say that in a good way. The bags are thin. The boards are flimsy. On one occasion, the backing board actually took some ink off of the book. (It was a black cover Marvel book which some say used cheap paper material, but still). I was quite happy to finally use up the last of the bags/boards just so I could be rid of them. I would avoid this brand at all costs. If you're intent on polypropylene bags, better to spend the extra $2 and buy BCW.

eBay. The more you buy at a given time, the less it is. For example 100 bags/boards are going for ~$16. 200 going for $26 ($13 per 100). 500 going for $60 ($12 per 100). And so on and so forth. I've found mylites and fullbacks to be equally affordable on eBay. Also, most of these eBay shops selling bags/boards have free shipping

These are comic books. Not wine. I can't imagine a given area has enough serious comic collectors that they would consider the use of an offsite storage facility. I also can't see how anyone would want to spend $XX/month to store books. Likewise, I don't know how much a secure, climate controlled space would cost as a business owner either. I mean yes, most of my books haven't been opened since I first bought them off the shelf and read them. But most of my books are also worth less than what I paid. I've been storing them in my closet or a bookshelf for 30 years now, I just don't see a need to suddenly spend money to have it stored elsewhere. Like I said, there are wine storage facilities, but wine takes up much more space in a persons home, should be stored in a specific climate range, and can be stored for 20+ years. Things that aren't always easily done for homeowners who might live in small homes, not have room for properly sized wine fridges, and who don't expect to drink a wine for decades and so have no need to have the bottle easily accessible. Basically, it's a business model that works for some things, but not others.

Agreed. I hope to one day call this one my own.

That's good that you reserve your Netflix viewing for a home TV (and not your phone). Some of the fights occur under dark lighting which is only made worst by a small phone screen.

Considering the post counts on some other movie/comic threads on these boards, i'm utterly shocked by the relative quietness of this Daredevil thread. I finished season 3 yesterday and was honestly blown away. First and foremost, you have to give props to the writers. It's absolutely remarkable the difference in quality between DD and every other Marvel Netflix show. I mean, just imagine if Luke Cage and Iron Fist were even just 75% of the quality of DD. I think a lot of it has to do with the series having such a broad range of complex characters. You've got Matt who is very much lost and at conflict with himself. Kingpin who will stop at nothing in the name of power and love. Karen who is about as damaged as a person can be without tipping the mental scale into full blown psychotic. And then lovable Foggy Bear. Throw in the new characters with Bullseye and Nadeem who have such depth of their own. So yeah, congrats to the writers on the successful development of so many characters and their own mini-arcs. Secondly, if you're Marvel you have got to be counting your blessings that you landed Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio in the two titular roles of the series. It's honestly hard to imagine anyone else playing Matt Murdoch at this point. I genuinely enjoyed this season for its writing, fight choreography, acting, everything. And to be honest, I'm even more excited now for Donny Cates Marvel Knights coming to the stands in November. I have historically not read any of the ongoing series related to any of the Netflix characters. Nor did I collect heavily from the Marvel Knights imprint. But on the strength of Donny Cates name alone (love his Thanos and Venom series), combined with increase in interest for Daredevil after watching season 3, I am eagerly awaiting to see what story they tell in graphic form.

If I happen to wake up and remember, I'll likely try to get an unsigned set. $125 for 6 books doesn't seem all that bad on a per book basis. But I'm not gonna lose any sleep over it if I don't get it for whatever reason.

After feeling a bit slighted by the ASM #800 SDCC issues, I said I would swear off JSC books, but I gotta admit this set looks kinda cool. It tugs on the nostalgia strings with the 90s outfits I grew up with. Plus I like that the covers are all different and don't look like only the faces were swapped out (see: ASM Renew Your Vows).
