  1. I think i'm gonna need more than 3 days with my pet elephant...
  2. This is the wrong forum to be asking this question. We've said it a half a dozen times now, explore the boards and post your questions/comments in the correct area. This is not the place to be asking for grades. This is not the place to be asking to buy books. If you want to buy books, use the link below and read the guidelines for use. The learning curve for navigating boards shouldn't be this steep. https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/forum/50-comics-market-want-to-buy/
  3. I see all sets available (signed and unsigned). I wonder if the JSCPremium site has anything to do with this. Was much of the previous demand for unsigned books REALLY largely due to people wanting to buy raw copies to get signed at conventions? And now that JSC has teased direct CGC 9.8 signature series label books, consumers are waiting on those instead? Or alternatively could the site be bugged and not showing orders properly? I really hope it's the former otherwise that would suck for any fans who would end up having their order cancelled.
  4. 2 sets period. You could place an order for one Premium Set and one Ultra set in your cart, but that's it. It's not 2 Premium Sets and 2 Ultra sets for total of 4 sets. If you want additional sets, you need to complete the order and create a new one.
  5. I think if you stacked all 30 volumes of the Encyclopedia Brittanica, you might be getting somewhere.
  6. Especially considering 364 has nothing to do with the story.
  7. addendum: away from direct sunlight (very important)
  8. The advice you read/posted above is all relevant. The only thing you have to decide relates to item #1. Do you want your books facing one direction, or do you subscribe to the alternating method? But yeah, bag/board, in a box, books positioned such that gravity/pressure/external forces are applied evenly across the whole comic. Make sure the room temperature remains largely consistent, isn't too hot or too cold, and that there's no humidity.
  9. Value of a comic/collection is completely irrelevant when measuring knowledge in the field. It's like saying someone with a Ferrari knows more about cars than a mechanic because their car cost more and/or has more horsepower. That and I think there's a fine line between sharing the joy of obtaining a cherished book in something like the "This week in my collection" thread versus outright saying "Look at me, I have an Amazing Fantasy #15" when egged on. TL;DR - it's best to not ask this sort of question as a retort.
  10. So I guess to my point, would we see a drop in market prices for Superior Spider-Man #20 since the ASM#14 cover is very similar?
  11. I don't see why this method can't be used to determine the top end of the price point for a raw book. It's basically saying "if a slabbed book costs $XX, then I'm not paying anymore than $XX for a raw book because I might as well buy slabbed for the same price." You then look at other factors such as grade/condition and whatever else might demand a premium and factor that into your max raw price to determine what range you're willing to spend. But at the very least you've established a ceiling on the book. Do I want to pay the ceiling price? Absolutely not, so i'll look for something lower and within the range I've determined.
  12. Didn't realize such a thing existed. That's awesome.
  13. Looks like you're right. I had the Black Cat cover confused with the ASM Presents. http://www.recalledcomics.com/ASMPresentsBlackCat1variant.php
  14. Great, so if you know where to find the FMV of a slab, you can roughly determine a FMV for a raw book. "Give a man a fish and you'll feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime."
  15. It totally makes sense from a monetization standpoint. But from a collectors perspective, you've gotta be a little upset if your book, which derives value solely from the art on the cover, suddenly has that same art on a new, cheaper book. Let's be honest, the original books with those covers...no one probably remembers the story inside. But some people on these boards probably dished out big bucks to get a 9.8 copy of it. And now demand for those original books will likely decrease as a new (albeit, slightly different) supply enters the marketplace. (NOTE: I don't have a dog in this fight as I have no interest in buying these, but it's an interesting topic of discussion.)
  16. This was my thinking. I wonder what happens to the value of the old books. Like isn't the original Black Cat book like $300+ or something?
  17. I just received an email promoting this. Has this always been a thing? Or is this new? https://jscpremium.com/collections/cgc Comparing prices on the ASM#2's and ASM#800s versus recent sales on feeBay, his prices are still fairly overpriced. For example, 2 signed copies of the cover I of ASM#800 (black suit Spidey) sold on eBay for $150 and $103.50 at the end of December. The price on JSCPremium? $300?! I mean, the irony of it is, if he sold at a reasonable price, I might actually be inclined to buy a book if it REALLY caught my attention because it wouldn't be much different than buying from a boardie here. But he (or his handlers) seem intent on gouging the market. And lord knows how much he's going to charge for the sketch Remarque's. $3000 perhaps?
  18. Don't forget Trump branded Steak. How you can fail at selling steak to one of the most obese countries in the world baffles me. How you bankrupt a casino, in which the rules for all games are rigged in the casinos favor requires an actual attempt at failure. (But I digress, this isn't the place for politics.)
  19. Ooo, gonna have to save that Journal for Friday. Thanks.
  20. Nah, definitely not. Just store that book normally. There's little likelihood that you'll be slabbing that book down the road anyways, so it's largely irrelevant. And even if you do want to slab it, you can just send it in for pressing first if you so choose.
  21. It's hard to keep track of all his failed business ventures.
  22. eBay can be a reasonable avenue to buy CGC graded books (I've certainly bought a few). But you just need to make sure that the price you pay is a reasonable amount based on past sales. There are other places to buy graded books that are more trustworthy than eBay. These include Heritage Auction and Comiclink. Or you can find online stores that sell graded books.
  23. I really don't think you're picking up what we're putting down. You seriously need to study CGC's submission fees, their process, the grading scale, the value of the books you're interested in, etc. EVERYTHING. You were ripped off on ASM 362 and again on ASM 361 in a span of 24 hours. But after all of that, you're still not getting it. Now you think this book was worth $33 to $40. Here's a CGC 7.0 for $83 shipped. If you back out all the fees that would be required for you to submit yourself, you can determine an estimated value for a raw book in that grade. That's $15 for you to ship to Florida, $20 in grading fees, $30 in return shipping, and $5 in form fees. That's $70 in and unto itself. That means for a raw book in FN/VF condition, you shouldn't pay more than $13. And that's just an estimate. I should really be going off of completed sales to determine the end value. Not list price. Honestly, slow down and do a lot of research on these boards before you even think about buying your next book.
