  1. The artwork is better than I would have expected. I wish they had gone with Alex Ross artwork though.
  2. Ummm what? There's definitely an argument for Civil War being as good a film or better than Infinity War. Those two, plus Winter Soldier, are my top 3 Marvel films. And which order I place them is largely subject to how I feel that day. Civil War is a more complete film in that it tells a complete story. Infinity War is still just "part 1" or a larger whole. I mean, as a movie about "the villain being the hero of their own story", it's a complete arc, but I can understand those who left the theater leaving incomplete. Infinity War being the far away better movie isn't as conclusive as you think. I damn near cried in the movie theater.
  3. For anyone (like myself) that watched the trailer and thought "oh dear, Brie Larson's acting seems so stiff", you've got nothing to worry about. Whether it's the writing, directing, or the acting, there's enough there that makes Carol Danvers an enjoyable character. I went in with no expectations (I think all the negging by the DC fan boys and the people hating on the women empowerment aspect did that), so the movie exceeded my expectations. If you're expecting "the best Marvel movie", I think you need to pare down your expectations. Captain Marvel is just a fun movie to kick back and enjoy the fact that we have yet another Marvel character largely done right. Honestly, as a comic geek, we should all be enjoying this comic character renaissance that is occurring on the big screen. For an origin story though, there is a little lack of character building. We get enough of Carol's background, but I really expected more from the surrounding cast. There are other things to nit pick, but I fear it might spoil it. But I fully agree with @Buzzetta, it's a good movie and a worthy addition to the MCU universe. Also, it left me wanting a Silver Surfer movie soooo much more. Some spoiler notes below...
  4. @BITCOINSWAMI Honest suggestion in the 5% chance you're actually not trolling us, but can you start a journal (link below) as that will reduce the chance of the mods locking all your posts. If gives you more freedom to talk about whatever you want to talk about. And it'll give us all a specific place to follow you keep ourselves entertained on Fridays. Thanks kindly. https://www.cgccomics.com/boards/blogs/
  5. It looks like I stumbled upon this thread just in time. Things are starting to get good.
  6. The price for the trade dress vs virgin pencil covers have nothing to do with the amount of work that goes into them and more about the print count. I mean, the colors don't pop out at you, but I enjoy seeing the process as it goes from pencilist to inker to colorist. Granted, if every book releases all these variants, it becomes redundant, but I especially liked it on the Jim Lee Batman #50 cover where you see the progression as it passes hands from Jim to Scott to Alex.
  7. The good news is that it seems as though he has realized there is a disparity between supply and demand on his premium store. For example, when the premium market first opened, i feel like his SS books were listed for like $250+. Now I'm seeing books in the $150-$200 range. Maybe he'll take some lessons from the fact that these raw books are still available and the next offering will be cheaper. Or one can hope.
  8. I feel like this is the reason why his last two offerings haven't sold out nearly as quickly as what he was putting up last year. It honestly feels like he's had a slew of covers and people are just getting burned out, bored of his work, or just don't have the money for it.
  9. I finally watched it last night. I mean, I've got nothing really new to add since it seems everyone enjoyed it. All I can say is that it feels like the most "comic book-y" movie I've ever seen. Like, I can easily see it starting life as a mini-series (though, it sounds like a completely original story). 6 issue mini's generally have these cliffhangers that close out the last page of each book, and I got the same kind of beats/pacing with Into the Spider-verse. Overall, very well done. And astonishing the quality of talent they're able to cast.
  10. Is that what he was going to say? , that tugs at the heart strings.
  11. In this day and age, collectors expect modern books to be NM+. Not all books are NM+/Gem Mint fresh off the press. There's a number of things that happen along the way that can negatively impact the book. The only way to guarantee that it is NM+ is by buying a book that has been pre-screened and sent to CGC and comes with a guarantee. You could buy the book raw and submit it yourself, but it could still come back 9.6 (which is less than ideal for some people). And even then, you're beholden to the one or two books the JSC store sent you. At least at a comic shop with a regular book, if you get there early enough you can pick through the 20+ copies the store has for the best available one. No such luck with mail order books.
  12. Still available...how much of this is a result of people now knowing they can get 9.8 graded copies in a month or so from his premium store?
  13. Am I right in assuming that this variant is a standard variant available to all retailers? (As opposed to a JSC.com Exclusive). And will he be doing variants for all 6 issues? https://www.cbr.com/hela-j-scott-campbells-war-of-the-realms-variant/
  14. I hope I'm allowed to post this, but I decided to follow-up with CGC and this was the official response. I think those label notations are something we can live with.
  15. Yeah, in most cases my submissions are for Signature Series and the previous rule was that facilitators could only hold books a month or two. Unfortunately for me, a lot of my submissions occurred across the entire con season which meant my submissions ended up getting split up and sent in at different times. On other occasions I've submitted books across different tiers, and CGC doesn't hold books to be sent under one invoice unfortunately. In this particular case, I only have one CBCS book that qualified for the Crossover. I've wasted a lot of money on shipping. It's probably why I gripe about having to pay so much for Registered Mail. Truth be told, I kinda dove into slabs rather quickly and now I have some books/sigs that I don't really care for (one of those things where my eyes were bigger than my wallet). As a result of this, I probably only have a small handful of books that I REALLY want signed so my future submissions likely number less than 5 at this point.
  16. Tier (also list FastTrack where applicable): Crossover Standard TAT as of Receipt Date: 32 Business Days (10 at CCS, 22 at CGC) Number of books: 1 Received CCS: 2/1 At CCS: Received CGC: Verified: 2/20 Scheduled for Grading: Graded: 2/22 Grading/Quality Control: 2/25Shipped/Safe: 2/26 Received (by owner): TBD Total TAT: TBD (13 at CCS, 5 at CGC, TBD with USPS) NOTE: this is a Crossover submission. Estimated TAT is based on standard submission times as I am unsure if there is any difference between it and Crossover return times.
  17. does he sell these at his booth? or does he accept limited commissions at cons?
  18. When I was a kid, I must have disobeyed my mom again. I can't remember if I was playing video games instead of doing homework or what. Anyways, she grabs a comic and threatens to cut it unless I stop whatever it was that I was doing. I must have been almost done with whatever it was, video game, TV show, who knows, but my mom wasn't having any of it. When I failed to comply with her wishes, she cut my book. I must have screamed at her so loud, probably slammed my door, etc. Anyways, I took the book and taped it up, but the damage was clearly done. I suppose I should be grateful it was an easily replaceable book (or at least, is easily replaceable now).
  19. And right BEFORE a Friday no less.
  20. side note, how do we get this thread stickied? you'd think 500+ pages and 800k+ views would warrant it. @dena
  21. Can we add your friend to the eBay blocked user list thread? :P And to answer OP's question, I keep seeing 10's but CGC never see's it that way.
  22. You should post this in the Blocked eBay user thread.
  23. Regarding the topic at hand, I think the 1st appearance of the BWL will stick around and hold value for a while. I actually see a lot of similarities between the BWL and Carnage. Both parallel existing villains (Joker/Venom). Both characters have a "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" type feel. Spidey teams up with Venom to take down Carnage. Batman needs Joker to take down the BWL. Both characters became immediate hits soon following their premiere. I really can't fathom the price of the book going higher unless a movie announcement was made. I do have to caution that depending on where the character/story goes, it could wind up being like Doomsday (who I felt made a big splash and then just sort of fizzled), though I don't think the book would ever drop to that level because the potential for character depth seems so much greater. As for the Grim Knight, I don't have much faith in that book sustaining itself long term. It's the spin-off of a character who was spun-off from another character. At some point, it no longer becomes original and instead becomes kinda gimmicky. The closest analogy I can come up with is Cosmic Ghost Rider. The value of the book really comes from whether or not DC chooses to market and monetize the character the way Marvel has. I kinda don't see it happening, but I've also only read the first two issues of the BWL mini-series so I don't know where the story goes for the Grim Knight.
