  1. A lot of foil covers are embossed. You can't press embossed can you?
  2. I may comment on a positive feedback about how the sellers grade was off if its really really off. Like a milehighcomic grade lol. For other buyers to maybe catch. Never a neg feedback on sellers grade though.
  3. Why specifically is this the case? Because they are generally more expensive or Newton rings or damage from comics within the inner well from shipping? I’m very curious.
  4. Rage Against The Machine - Killing In the Name
  5. Just tap it in. Give it a little tappy hey the brittle cracking noise when gently flexing a case IS an indicator of Newton rings. Try it without looking next time. You can do it very gently without damaging your comic. Rumor has it CGC cases aren’t meant to protect comics anyway.
  6. I’m sure you can tap tap tap that paper back inside the comic. They prob put it just under the cover. Tap tap tap it home.
  7. I agree with most of what you're saying. They are not protected. I want to like CGC a lot but I can't write it off to just marketing. I want them to be a leader and provide what they say because I want that for some of my comics. Also they don't suggest a new holder every x years for new holder: Is it necessary to get my CGC book reholdered every 10 (or 7, or 12, etc.) years? No. The CGC holder is designed for long-term preservation and provides superior protection for your books. A properly handled and stored CGC-certified book can last for generations.
  8. How can people find that information? All I can find is "Once certified by CGC, a comic book is encapsulated in a state-of-the art, tamper-evident holder, providing superior protection and stability for long-term preservation."
  9. I'm so good I can detect newton ring without even looking at the slab. If you apply slight bend pressure from the sides and hear brittle cracking then trust me, you gots the NRs. Im looking for a home solution. Heating it up over the stove slightly almost makes some go away as it expands a bit but...they come right back :)
  10. Really nice bunch. The inner well on that Lady Death seems large.
  11. I think the solution is to grade your book first with no signature (blue label) and simply have the person sign the outside of the CGC case and keep the event cert from where you got it signed. Thats right. Start signing outside of CGC cases. Best of both worlds for when CGC is not at an event.
  12. Look at all that extra space inside that inner well. Tap tap tap that book center. What a range that thing can move. I find it disturbing that a comic could be more secure with just a board and sleeve mailing it across states then mailing in a slab.
  13. The inner wells are not centered in those cases. There is also room tap tap tap the comic center in the inner well. That will be good for the edges.
  14. $4-$6 shipping costs for a comic suggests a flat rate envelope that maybe made the buyer uneasy although I think you can ship that method secure. One of the reasons I order comics on eBay is to pity packaging methods. I find the whole experience interesting how many different methods people use to ship comics. The funniest is when people over-use with tape. Nothing is better then trying to pull off loads of really sticky tape gingerly while watching the corners of comics bend upward. Why tape bubblewrap when its packed inside a box. I find that amusing for some reason. The main mistake sellers make is not clearly defining specifically how they are mailing. Clear is: Comic is mylar bagged with a board shipped in gemini flash mailer in priority mail flat-rate envelope OR Comic is mylar bagged with a board taped down to 1/8" thick B-flute corrugated pad bubble wrapped and shipped in priority mail medium flat-rate box. Or even better, take a picture of your shipping packaging and include it in the item listing. Wow would that be great.
  15. This is the most informative thread that I really needed to read. Two current documented inner well methods. BUBBLE and SLOT. Comic can bust out seam of both inner well methods as documented in this thread do to SCS but probably more common in bubble method. Comic will generally shift more easy (not busting through seam) in Bubble method causing non-centered comic and edge damage. Maybe they are using less pressure in the bubble method due to wave issues or whatever that last debacle was. The most important thing should be to secure the comic in a non-shifting method for protection and display. Its so discouraging to read about these issues. I have a hard time sending comics to be graded with even the slightest chance of damage. There are some serious serious flaws here. This thread really helps in any future CGC graded comic purchasing I may make so thank you.
  16. I'm bringing to light the "serious" conspiracy going around about this topic. For fun, you know? To add to a cool topic. It reminds me of the confusion of Pitt's first appearance in Malibu Sun #19, or Spawn in Malibu Sun #13 but on the other side being not true about Maxx.
  17. wikipedia " first appearance of The Maxx was in Primer #5, published by Comico Comics.[1]" Comico Primer #5 CGC 9.8 - 1st Sam Kieth Art + 1st Appearance of The Maxx 1983 SO these are wrong.
  18. I have been trying to find a nice copy of Deathblow #1 newsstand edition 5/93 1993 for a while now. I always assumed it was pretty rare since there are hardly any graded ...just one at 6.5 in the Census...and hardly any ever go up for sale on eBay. Today I do my daily search on eBay and the attached picture shows up for sale. A Deathblow newsstand edition with 1145719001 cert number. It has a strange note about the newsstand edition but it is the newsstand edition. When I verify the number it shows it as the direct edition. Now there is no way for me to tell how many real newsstands are graded as direct editions. Does anyone have any thoughts about this? Deathblow # 1 Census Certification #: 1145719001
