  1. You could star here: Follow up response from Steve Borock
  2. Borock isn't "held in low regard". "Voldemort" is CBCS' nickname because he 'turned to the dark side' and started his own group - just like Riddle in Harry Potter lore. It was also taboo to reference CBCS in the CGC board's past.
  3. People were sharing their results here awhile back, and from my analysis, it was pretty much 33% of everything. 1/3 chance it'll stay the same grade. 1/3 chance you'll get a bump up. 1/3 chance you'll get a ding down. The biggest chance lies in pre-Modern, where some companies may miss restoration (or sometimes full pages) *cough*PGX*cough*. Voldemort has pretty good grading standards and their labels/cases are pretty nice. I would crossover any and all PGX books, though, for sure. If you go into the crossover with the mindset of a 1/3 chance of anything happening - I think you'll be happy with the outcomes.
  4. No minimums. You simply get better bang-for-your-buck when you ship, say, 25 comic books rather than 5 (shipping + insurance costs get lower/item). The "value" is basically, "what do you expect to receive in insurance compensation if your item is lost or damaged?" Yes, condition plays into the fiscal value of a comic book. If you have literally no clue how to grade, maybe show us what you got in the PGM sub-forum. We can help there.
  5. No. We would have to see the overall condition of the comic, plus the defect, to give you an idea of whether or not it would still qualify for the NM range. Too many variables to judge based on description alone.
  6. I think that the end-thought was: How would Ronin survive a blitzkrieg by Thanos after he receives the Soul Stone? They also obviously wanted to mirror the scene from Infinity War - thematically. I think they made the correct choice.
  7. Yeah, I was concerned about this when I listed some very rare/expensive MtG cards for sale last week. Luckily, I have never been scammed - knock on wood. Plus, the buyer had 100% FB with a 12-year old account. I'm still concerned with every listing I post. Just gotta hope for the best.
  8. Yes. This book? A pro won't hurt it, but I could see an amateur messing up that bottom staple. If you have the disposable income to press... Sure, why not? I personally wouldn't burn the cash on this one.
  9. Not a comic book - just a silver "coin" of the AF15 cover. They were about $150 directly from NZ-Mint. I think it was originally $300 to get a Gem Mint copy from CGC. The gold foil version, IIRC, was not available outside of the CGC version (which was originally $5k for a Gem Mint copy).
  10. These are definitely worth more than the materials they're minted on, but IMO they're too pricey for me to buy, mostly based on the fact that they're not original designs.
  11. AFAIK they've only done DC Comics and Star Wars covers. New Zealand Mint "Comics" Edit: I'm an insufficiently_thoughtful_person. We're talking about an AF15 cover and I omitted that they've done some Marvel covers.
  12. I was considering getting the AC1, DC27, Superman #1, and Batman #1 awhile back. It'd be cool to have Gem Mint covers of those iconic books. They're just too expensive for what they are, though, IMO. I still think they're overall cool products. I'd appreciate looking at 'em if someone I knew IRL collected them. Edit: I also have reprints of AC1 and DC27 from the BvS Ultimate Collection, so that helped dissuade me from buying these. I plan on getting Supes' and Bat's #1 reprints soon.
  13. NGC Releases Designations Basically: Yes, wombat.
