  1. It cannot be discussed without receiving a warning for discussing politics.
  2. 100% correct. That is also correct. It would be eligible for a Qualified (green) label, though.
  3. Mr. Magoo might. I bet you can't tell the difference between another 9.8 and this comic book from 5 feet away. That's how silly buying the label is.
  4. Yes, it is okay for CGC to observe comic conditions subjectively. There are no concrete grades (outside of Gem Mint, of course). I already said that I personally would not give this a 9.8 grade. I don't know where you're coming up with these wild accusations.
  5. No. Supply/demand determines market value. Well-educated collectors won't pay more for a 9.2 than a 9.8 because most CGC 9.8s are generally most people's definitions of a 9.8 comic.
  6. Exactly. The value is in the comic. The number in the plastic is just someone else's opinion.
  7. We don't know what CGC's criteria is... How can we evaluate their ability to follow unknown standards...? If CGC 'couldn't be trusted' then they wouldn't be in business. Buy the book - not the label. It's that simple.
  8. Gotta say... This TV Spot is getting me hyped now...
  9. You should be looking for which comics have the art and story that best appeal to your interests...
  10. I'm tempted to post the "fight me u lil _____" Furby meme...
  11. Darkseid is, in fact, DC/s greatest villain. There's no match.
  12. What else can we do? If CGC wasn't respected as a grading house then they wouldn't be in business. Of course CGC has standards that they try to implement and be consistent with, but, we have no clue what they are. All you can do is buy the comic that you think looks best within your budget. Nobody's perfect. Look at what Joss Whedon did with The Avengers. Then look at what he did with Justice League. Grading can yield the same kind of conflicting results.
  13. We don't know what CGC's grading standards are - that is the point. It's a 'trade secret' of theirs to avoid discussions like this. The CGC grade doesn't have much meaning. It's simply the agreed upon grade between 3 individuals who work in FL. That's why many people will tell you to "buy the book - not the label". For me, the service is worth it for authentication and restoration detection. I think that most of us want the best-presenting comic, though. CGC's opinions are simply highly-regarded. They're not concrete.
  14. If I was you, I would talk to the seller about returning this. Did you buy the book, or the label? Were the spine ticks, if visible, glossed over because of the 9.8 CGC grade?
  15. Nope. Everyone has their own opinion about any certain grade on any specific comic book. That's how subjectivity works. CGC may think this is a 9.8 - I personally don't. Did you submit this, or did you buy it on the aftermarket?
  16. Read the back of the CGC label. We don't know what CGC's "standards" are. There are no universal grading standards.
  17. Grading is subjective. Mr. Magoo might see a 9.8 here. Idk. I can't recall any times CGC has offered to re-grade a book for free.
  18. Lmfao. IIRC, last year I guessed $0.01 more than @kav. He screwed me.
