  1. I have had a similar experience *non comic related*. Unfortunately eBay will never side with the seller as long as the buyer maintains innocence. That's all the scammer has to do to game the system. If they don't admit to any faults, the seller will 100% lose the case and they will force the seller to refund the buyer including the return shipping cost. eBay states that they are only a 3rd party and can only go by the evidence presented within the messages within their system. They cannot verify what the seller sends to the buyer and will not look at anything else or consider any evidences outside of that scope. Judging from the responses I am reading, it seems most people don't realize that seller protection on eBay is barely existent. Again, if the buyer does not admit fault, the seller will lose the case flat out. Bottom line, DO NOT sell anything you can't afford to lose on eBay. As screwed up as this sounds, cases like these don't happen that often, but you will eventually run into this if you're a power seller. As for the OP, your only option now is to gather as much evidence you have and determine if you have a case to take it up a notch to authorities or bring the culprit to court for dispute if you think it's worth the time and effort.
  2. This guy never sent the book for refund, but instead left me a negative feedback. So it's 100% confirmed that he's one of those partial refund extortionist. I have already reported him to eBay. Not sure what they will do about the negative feedback. Again, just providing a warning to fellow sellers if you want to avoid any unnecessary headaches. 15+ years of selling and this is the first negative I got. Looks like this is going to be unavoidable with how eBay caters to buyers now.
  3. Getting tired of people extorting for partial refunds once they receive their items. Currently dealing with one right now. USER ID: thanatos1981 He sends me this initial first message. "hi there.this book is ok other then top left corner has a crease on the cover.I would keep it if you guys did a partial refund for this.I can send pics if needed. thank you" The crease on the spine is clearly shown on my scans, so basically he's just picking anything out to ask for a partial refund. My response to him... "Hi,Sorry I cannot issue a partial refund for this book as the crease you are mentioning about is clearly shown in the scans. Please feel free to send the book back for a refund if you are unhappy with it." Deal with him at your own risk.
  4. My advice to anyone selling on eBay is don't sell anything that you can't afford to lose. Now granted that scams are out there but they don't occur that often. God forbid if it does happen to you, I wouldn't count on eBay to set things right for you especially if you are the seller. Once a SNAD case is opened up against the seller, 99% of the time eBay will side with the buyer. The 1% chance a seller can win a SNAD case is if by the act of god, the buyer somehow admits fault within the eBay messaging system. Even if the seller choose to appeal the case, they will tell you straight up that if the buyer doesn't admit fault, there's nothing they can do because this becomes a "he said, she said" case. Since they have a buyer protection program, eBay will default to side with the buyers. There IS no seller protection in SNAD cases unfortunately. Even if you have evidence outside of the eBay messaging system, they will tell you to report it to the authorities or take legal action. eBay will not stand up for you since they consider themselves a 3rd party.
