  1. I read this funny article about the weird characters from Centaur Comics on Cracked.com: http://www.cracked.com/blog/11-forgotten-heroes-from-historys-worst-comics-publisher/
  2. Per their website, it's up to the consignor to select the price they wish to see their books for: "Sell your consignments as fixed price listings at prices of your choosing, or list them in our popular monthly comic auction, whichever format you prefer." Looks like the expectations of the sellers varies widely.
  3. That was cool seeing the teaser at the end of the episode last night! Now it makes sense that Psycho Pirate showed up in the last 2 cross-over episodes. As the story speculated, I wonder if it will just be next year's cross-over or if this will be the running theme through all of the DC TV shows. Hopefully it's the latter. I really did not enjoy Diaz being the main bad guy from last season through the first half of Arrow this season, and ditto for Cicada on The Flash. It would be cool to see the Crisis theme building up in each series and then we get a big cross-over of all 4 shows.
  4. This show is a blast week in and week out! I look forward to it each week. It doesn't take itself too seriously unlike Arrow and sometimes The Flash. Unfortunately it seems the show is treated like the annoying stepkid to Arrow and The Flash. They've done a great done of rotating characters in and out over the years to keep things fresh (Rip out as captain; Sara in as captian; the Hawks gone; Snart gone; adding Wally West and Nate; sadly taking out Professor Stein and Jax; Zari in; adding in Constantine this season). I wasn't sure how Constantine would be used, but they did a great job of making the season supernatural-themed so he would fit in. I also love getting to see the inner workings of the Time Bureau. It's pure laughs at that joint. I can't believe the timeline is entrusted to people like Gary It's too bad they aren't part of the Elseworlds cross-over. I really loved Crisis on Earth X last year.
  5. I have an UXM #266 (1st full Gambit) that was printed without a top staple. It's a CGC 9.6 blue label.
  6. I just got some BCW CGC re-sealable poly bags in the mail this week from a seller on Amazon. I paid under $25 CDN for 100. Unfortunately the seller was in Australia and there was a Canada Post strike which recently ended, so it took forever to get here! My CGC books look great in them. They are nice and clear. I have a 100 page graded book and they are big enough to accommodate such a large comic.
  7. Fantastic Four #72 for me. I was in high school and the LCS owner said he bought some Silver Age books recently. I looked through them and the awesome Kirby cover with Silver Surfer and the Watcher in the background stood out.
  8. Here's my entry to the club. I got these back yesterday from CGC. I bought these 2 at my LCS when the book came out and I'm just thrilled one of them came back as a 9.8.
  9. Thanks Bomber-Bob and ExNihilio. I just found the turnaround times on the Services and Fees page. Don't know why I missed them before submitting.
  10. I dropped off 3 submissions at Fan Expo Toronto on September 1st. They were all invoice dated September 6th. The Modern books submission were graded and shipped back to me on October 8th. I got the books back a couple of days later. I was impressed with the speed! However, the Economy tier submission is still only in Verified status and the Modern books I sent for press and grade are in Received status. I know the submission for pressing and grading will take much longer, but I'm surprised the Economy submission is so far behind the Modern one I already got back. Is this normal?
  11. No difference for the 9 books in the sleeves. 2 of the well books were prestige format and 2 were heavier foil covered books.
  12. Here's my contribution. I got a shipment of 13 Moderns back last week. 4 came with the inner tray and 9 were in the sleeve with no tray. There were no issues with the 4 books slabbed in the inner tray. The 9 books in the sleeves are all off-center a bit with the top left and bottom right corners shifted more toward the edges; basically like the Power Girl example but in the opposite direction. Thankfully I did not see any damage to the books and the sleeves/books have not dropped below the presentation area of the cases.
  13. This is a common issue with ASM #300. My 2 original copies I bought at my LCS when it came out have this issue. All the copies at my LCS had this issue because I asked the owner for better copies when they came out, but all the issues in their order were like that. The cutting machine must have had issues that day which was fixed later. Thankfully I was able to pick-up copies without the issue later on. It always aggravated me that I had the poorly cut copies!
  14. It's too bad it's closed. I was also fascinated by this place in the 90's due to their ads and got their mail order catalogue. They seemed to have everything. I placed one order with them and got all the books I asked for. I remember the grading was pretty good. The most significant book I got was Hulk #102 which I still have. I figure it's about a VF.
  15. Long-time lurker and recently joined member. I did get combined shipping on my recent Modern and Economy submissions. However I dropped my books off at Fan Expo Toronto in September with CGC directly since they had a booth. The CGC rep said she would combine the shipping for the two subs. She filled out the fees and shipping section for me on the two forms. I got the books back today in one package. I checked the submission status of both and noticed the Economy took almost two weeks longer to grade.
