  1.  Fantastic Four 390s have one of two different publication dates on the cover - newsstands show June, 1994, and directs show July, 1994. July is the correct date.

I recently came across two different ways the newsstand date error was remedied with a sticker, as described below.

    1.  A buddy of mine has a FF 390 newsstand with a sticker covering the price box which corrects the date to July (see pics).  All the other info on the sticker is identical to that in the price box as originally printed.

    2.   I recently acquired a FF 390 direct which has a newsstand UPC sticker covering the direct edition UPC, thus creating a newsstand with the correct month (see pics).

Have any of you run across these or similar stickers on a FF 390 before?

    dang! doh!

is the last selling price of X-men #107 35 center in around CGC 4.0, really only $160? ???

Shoot I way over paid! :sorry:

I saw that MCS auction 3 weeks ago and couldn't believe the book went that low. However, the same book (same CGC #) sold yesterday on MCS for $319. Go figure.

    I recently acquired a sealed 3-pack containing Uncanny X-Men #s 206, 207 and 208.  Both 207 and 208 are 2nd prints.  206 is a newsstand edition, and appears to be a 1st print.

On 207 I can read in the indicia that it is the 2nd print, but could not get any kind of photo of that.  The back cover ad is Yamaha (visible in photos below), inside front cover ad is New Universe, and inside back cover ad is Classic X-Men, all different from the 1st print and consistent with known 2nd prints.

On 208 I can read at the bottom of page 1 that it is the 2nd print.  I could not get a decent photo of that, but there is a blurry photo showing it is the 2nd print.  The back cover ad is Yamaha, same as the 1st print.  The inside front cover ad is New Universe and inside back cover ad is Classic X-Men (see photos below), both different from the 1st print and consistent with known 2nd prints.

  4. I already posted this multi-pack in the Copper section topic "DC early 1980s No Month Variants" but thought it was worth posting here, too. Walgreens 3-packs with 1982-1983 DCs are quite scarce, and contain "no month" books. The DC no month books themselves aren't nearly as scarce as the Walgreens 3-packs.

The books are Blackhawk 252, Brave And The Bold 192, and DC Comics Presents 51 - all November, 1982.

  5. It has been quite a while since I paid attention to the Philippine editions/reprints.  I had been keeping a list of Goodwill Bookstore books, which seem to have possibly had their own unique sequential numbering system in multiple series.  If that is the case, there may be unknown (at least to me) books, according to the list below.  Below are a few examples, NOT from my collection, except the C02-75 Incredible Hulk #154.  Can any of you fill in some of the gaps below?

Issue #   Issue          Original Publication Date

@masterlogan2000 brought me here. Wanted to share an Avengers 102 Goodwill Trading reprint I recently came across.

I don't collect foreign variants, so planning to list this for sale soon. Is there a market for these books still? If so, how does it compare to the US versions?

There was one of those for sale on eBay for quite a while, maybe a year or more, a couple years ago.  The seller was asking around $30, as I recall.  That one was about the same condition as yours.  Hope that helps at least a little.

The Marvel Age ad with Jim Lee's art would seem to be what was first available to the public.

But so what? It's a single ad page. Nobody really even cares about Alpha Flight 51, which was almost certainly his first work assigned and finished for Marvel, even if they also got him to draw a little ad.

I think referring to the artwork at issue as an "ad" understates what it is.  Marvel itself, on the cover of Marvel Age Annual #3, stated work by Jim Lee was part of a "special all-new comics section by Marvel's top talents" (see pic below).  The artwork at issue is the only Jim Lee art in said section.

  8. Thank you all so far for your input.  As stated above, acc. to the US Copyright Office (accurate or not), Alpha Flight #51 and Marvel Age Annual #3 were both published on 06/11/1987 and registered on 09/30/1987.

Acc. to Marvel Age #54 (09/1987) (see pics below), the shipping and on sale dates for the books were to be as follows:

    Alpha Flight #51 - ship 06/09/1987; on sale 06/30/1987

Marvel Age Annual #3 - ship 06/02/1987; on sale 06/23/1987

Does the fact that Marvel Age Annual #3 was scheduled to be on sale a week before Alpha Flight #51, as stated in a Marvel publication, mean Jim Lee's first Marvel art appeared in Marvel Age Annual #3, and not in Alpha Flight #51, regardless of when those works were published or registered with the US Copyright Office?

  9. Jim Lee's first Marvel art is commonly stated to be in Alpha Flight #51, published 10/1987.  Jim Lee penciled one page of art (shown below) in Marvel Age Annual #3, also published 10/1987.  The Marvel Age Annual #3 page is a preview of coming events in Alpha Flight, and does not contain artwork appearing in Alpha Flight #51.  My research indicates Marvel Age Annual #3 was released one week before Alpha Flight #51 - 06/23/1987, compared to a release date of 06/30/1987 for Alpha Flight #51.  Given the foregoing, should Jim Lee's first Marvel art be considered to be in Marvel Age Annual #3, instead of in Alpha Flight #51, or at least be considered to be in Marvel Age Annual #3 together with Alpha Flight #51?  I understand Marvel Age was a promotional/preview publication, but it does contain Jim Lee comic art created for Marvel.  Thoughts?
