  1. Annual 6 was a favorite.....I was kind of young when it came out and my mom was pregnant with my sister the same time Sue was pregnant with Franklin...it kind of put a cool spin on it.I was always surprised it wasn't more hot as keys are concerned...especially with the first appearance of Anihillus.GOD BLESS...

  2. Cartoonist's Calamity is one of the best, for sure.Everetts's titles always impressed me too.As far as his women go....ironically,that was what first attracted me to his work. It was the early 70's when he was doing his final run on Sub-mariner.I had the hots for Namorita...who was about my age at the time :cloud9: .I also have to place "The Stone Men" , also from # 17,at the top of the list....love those detailed renditions of landmarks around the world. That Lorna you posted is incredible.....how do you turn up these Ubercopies of these books that never turn up in HG ? GOD BLESS...

  3. This past week, I finally broke down and ordered Michelle Nolan's book. So far, so good. It's refreshing to see someone took the time to review the entire field of Romance, starting with some of the Teen precursors to the full blown Romance stories.

    Here's the cover -

I've got this too, interesting read! One thing I wish was that there was more time spent on scarcity of various issues.

If anyone would know scarcity, it's Michelle Nolan. She's one of my heroes....I really miss her articles in CBM. In a way, these boards kind of became the new CBM. I wish Michelle would post here.GOD BLESS...

  4. Thanks guys.I don't know about anyone else...but to me, Everett's style really seemed to kick into high gear during the 1952-1953 period. You could see that the horror genre really suited him. It looks like he took a major evolution in his approach during those two years. This Venus 18 might be one of my favorite comics ever.It will hopefully be one of the last books to go when I hit the time to sell my favorite books. I always wondered if the last 3 issues of the run (which seem to be in a class by themselves) were the result of Bill and Stan deciding that Venus didn't have to be romantic fantasy anymore. He was obviously having quite a blast when he did these last few.GOD BLESS...

Here's the interior scans I promised.I think I would have to say that as far as the interiors go....I think 18 is the best of the run with 17 a CLOSE second and #19 in third.Any other opinions ? GOD BLESS..

That's a gorgeous book, Jim. The guys in green are intense. I admire Everett more every time I see one of his pre-code horror covers.

I'm going to post some scans of the interiors in the "undead thread" in the GA section later this weekend.GOD BLESS...

  7. The work you mention all falls within the range of Mod P.....and 20 K might not be too bad if you've got no tanning and nice pages.GOD BLESS...

P.S. I was just looking at the Famous Funnies Frazetta portfolio you sold me a few years ago....it's one of my pized possesions. :cloud9:

  8. Have you ever picked up a book with the sole intention of selling it....and end up loving it.I was always impressed by the black and white reprints of the Robinson / Meskin Black Terrors so I didn't mind keeping this til it sold....but it's SO cool.Since it cost more than I can get for it I guess I'll have to keep it.GOD BLESS...

  9. (looking left = truth)

    Says who??

I read something to that effect a while back. It's a lie detecting technique. A right handed person will look left before telling the truth. It has something to do with accessing parts of the brain that store information. Take that for what it's worth. It may carry just as much water as phrenology.

Then there is "The heart is on the left" thing. Looking left here may not indicate "truth", it may indicate "love".

Or the third possibility is: Jimbo just thought it looked cool.

My sister works with the environmental protection agency and has taken training in reading body language....she also mentioned that. I always look UP when I answer her questions....it throws her off. The world in the pool represents "fountains of living water".GOD BLESS...

  10. Thats pretty interesting jimjum........hmmmm?? Especially all the eyes....... hm

They're a recurring theme in my paintings.....they represent omniscience, quantum mechanics, and the collective subconscious. I've also got a thing for logorythmic spirals.GOD BLESS...

  11. Here's one of my paintings....."Adam and Eve Before the Fall". I 've done several of these abstract/surreal paintings and have even sold a couple....but never for enough to equal the number of hours that go into one. I've also done billions of pen and ink drawings, but most are gone now.GOD BLESS...

  12. It absolutely has to be a superhero cover....and it has to be timeless even though the cover is dated...not that I don't like the non superhero covers but really....the GA was the GA because of the hero.

    R.

I agree. It aslo absolutely has to be Superman or Batman. They started the whole thing, and are the true icons of the age. National media could not care less about the other heroes. Nor would they mean anything to the non comic buying public

If it were a Silver Age question, then Spidey.

You know Bill, it could even be a Captain Marvel or a Timely Schomburg. There are just so many incredible covers..Whiz #1, 12, 13, Mystic #4, Daring Mystery #3,4,5, Marvel Mystery #5, 9, Captain Marvel Adventures #1, 2....just so many covers....they are all timeless and reminiscent of the era.

We should somehow get a list of nominations together and then vote on it.

A poll :cloud9: ...if I could have any GA comic for free, with the condition that I could never sell it......Captain America # 1.GOD BLESS...

  13. Newest addition to the family.... :) ff9.jpg
Gorgeous book, Steve. Beautiful colors. A great pickup!   (thumbs u— Rick

Those pages look nicer than OW.....Beautiful copy of a very tough book....those first 15 are so hard to find in 9.0. I guess we should start placing friendly wagers on which one will be the last one you acquire.....I'll say 1,3,and 8 will be your last 3.GOD BLESS...

  14. Made my last payment today :banana: Cant wait to get it :acclaim:

What a great feeling. I know how nice it is to pay off a book, and know that it is on its way.

    :applause:

Spidey always had the coolest villains....Sandman one of the coolest.I wonder how he explained to the guys at Rykers how Webhead sucked him into a vacuum cleaner ? GOD BLESS...

  15. How is Lone Star Comics grading on GA books? There is a book on their site listed at VG... Wondering if it would be close to a CGC VG..?

Got this from them as a VG+ and it's close....I'm picky and would probably call it VG ,but it's the best copy I've ever had a shot at...tough book, I'm glad to have it.GOD BLESS...
