  1. #3 sold highest for 17.5k in '04 & #4 for ~ 29k in 2015 but it was an outlier per GPA That price is a joke for a 28. It's wildly off base In my view! If #14 isn't anywhere near that then there's no justification for a 28 being 20k. I'd just sit tight & keep my powder dry. I had given up on searching for that #55 until out of the blue it popped up for auction. I found it while searching for something else. Maybe attempting to reach out to these sellers for a price adjustment? Otherwise patience is probably the answer
  2. Just stumbled upon this thread here. Thanks for bumping. Already posted this a couple of times but here's my contribution.
  3. Thanx. That 50 9.4 you posted is a masterpiece! Carson, McMahon and David Brinkley appearances LoL!
  4. Don't be so sure about "forever". All it takes is 1 auction. I was just involved in a staggering bidding war for a high grade low census book. It wasn't even as low census as your FF. I prevailed but my wallet is on life support. It hasn't sold in years in it's grade but I'm still bewildered at that final number! It ended up around 4x the highest GPA including pedigrees. If someone wants it bad enough they'll surpass your number
  5. Man I've received some really really sketchy holders from mostly non eBay sellers. 3 were from major auction sites. Obviously these defects weren't pointed out on the listings at the time nor were they visible from their single image on the listings. I never asked for any refunds! It's always best to post as many detailed pictures of the book as possible. Fully disclose any defects at all in description. Just throwing up a picture or 2 leaves you vulnerable to these types of shenanigans.
  6. Yeah of course. Never ever because of the sticker... That's what they all say
  7. At the risk of being persistently off topic... Yes to both. If you were ever in possession of one & put it up for sale I'm absolutely positive you'd charge just the regular market rate right?... And not a penny more right?
  8. I would imagine the premium justification would be that not all "nice & sharp" looking copies are designated CVA. Some are rejected
  9. I think if you click the cert # next to the book it might identify the CVA designation under the key comments section. Not sure about that though. Anyways lots of them are sold on Clink. I wish they would break down based on UPC or direct editions. That would be quite helpful!
  10. I don't know if there's shill bidding going on? How would anyone know? Point is that they're going for higher prices. Those numbers are being recorded. Regardless of phony bidding or not the market rate is what it is. I wasn't keeping up with the thread in January or know if I posted in it or not. I was pointing out my thinking that the Tec 411 went for a high price due to the CVA.
  11. Yes however the market has spoken. I didn't decide this but agree or disagree it carries a premium. Mostly a sizable premium.
  12. I believe it was Don Warfield along with Romita on 146. Joe Rosen was lettering. The page artwork wasn't always consistent on bronze silver books. I don't think that was uncommon. Maybe it was time constraints? Who knows? BTW, Gil Kane is the greatest artist ever imo! The only signature I'd want more than Lee's would be his. He lived & passed away in Aventura, FL, a Miami suburb near where I live. Great man!!
  13. Agreed. It's unclear what the catalyst for a sudden severe dip would be? Maybe if the MCU doesn't get full rights to the x-men I guess. I still don't think that would cause a significant drop in valuation though. Some people seem to be seeing a 181 crash behind every telephone pole! IMO the book has enjoyed a steady organic increase due to the popularity of the character As for macro economy & stock market if the great recession wasn't enough to really hurt major silver & bronze keys I don't think a typical downturn would. Only thing that could possibly be affected a bit in that scenario would be the lower graded 181s.
  14. It's pushed up to 11,800 now from 10,000. It's not even a white pager.
  15. It's because of the cva. Never bid on a cva (in hopes of winning) unless you're prepared to pay through the nose. I learned that the hard way. Had it been a gold sticker the price would've reached whackadoo bonkers level!
  16. I love them! Curious what grades would you give the 112 & 113?
  17. Thanks. I'm guilty of being a sucker for the whites as well! I'll accept some mis-wrapping off centering etc, in favor of what that label says. I know some will disagree but that's just what my preference is. Stay tuned there's more to come. Perhaps even a major key, say...in the medium term or so.
  18. A bit off topic but they're going to air Stephen Hawking's appearance on star trek next generation on (heroes & icons channel) H&I network at 6pm eastern time.
  19. Couldn't find a Spidey specific copper thread so I'll post here. Still one of my favorite covers though
  20. Thanks man. Glad you liked them. Did you buy it when it was released back in 76? I think 161 is a little undervalued considering the cameos. It probably would be of more value had punisher been depicted on cover. I love the crawler he's my second favorite x-man behind the obvious wolvie. Stay tuned there might be another one tomorrow or soon.
