  1. No store owner has to order a product, esecially from a small compay like this.
  2. Far too many tape pull stories for me to single one out. A New Gods 1 , Flash 137 and Green Lantern 21(ish) come to mind first, but there were more. In my first shop, I had a set of EC books taped to the back wall. A leaky roof on a three story building allowed water to get in and it picked the two feet of wall where my ECs were to manifest itself. Came in one morning to notice two books had fallen off the wall. When I picked one up it was full of water. Every book on that section of wall had sever water damage. After months of fighting the landlords insurance company, I think I got a check for about $60, less than a third of my asking prices.
  3. It's been years since I've sold on ebay and I don't know why anyone puts up with such unfriendly policies. At what point is is no longer worth being squeezed for every penny and then kicked in the balls just because?
  4. Almost any sealed Whitman Marvel pack will sell for far more than it's parts sell for. Same with DC and Gold Key. I have plenty of Gold Key and Whitman books that I bought only because they were in sealed multipacks. I regularly pay $15-20 for three Whitmans I'd pass on if they were in a dollar box. I'm fairly sure I'm not alone in doing so.
  5. I'm wondering if he is a member or a lurker here as I got an ebay message where he apologized for the tone of his message. He also explained eBays policy and I've got to say it is ridiculous. I've been thinking of trying to sell some old toys on it but now will use other means. The Bay should charge a restocking fee and make it very clear to the buyers that the money does not go to the sellers. I can't imagine serious merchants agreeing to this. Does it go away when you reach a certain status or sales level?
  6. I disagree. I asked to cancel within a minute, perhaps two. eBay makes a big deal of their money back warranties.
  7. The total charged to my paypal was $38 and included my $2 donation to charity- which wasn't refunded. What would it cost him in fees to refund $36? Would he have been hit with fees if I canceled two minutes in?
  8. I did not know that. I rarely use ebay anymore
  9. This was one of the most exasperating experiences I've had in close to twenty years on the bay. I bought a nice run of vintage baseball cards and was shopping for some big boxes to store them. I order them from a place ,and within seconds realize I want one size larger- I look for a phone number but it isn't in the ad so I cancel the order with ebay, saying I ordered the wrong item, intending to order the right items when I'm refunded. Details deleted as I had a number of pms asking about the particular seller. I'd delete the whole thread if possible. Would you blast him, thank him for the quick refund, or not leave anything. I assume I can still leave feedback even after the refund.
  10. Don't be jealous. Learn from them. What do they do that you don't. What books are a waste of time, what books just got hot. Almost every week, I read on these boards about a book that suddenly gets hot, and I go looking to see if I have it. I had a Marvel Spotlight in my $1 box that for a few weeks was a $50 book. Anyways, best of luck. Keep trying and keep learning. The alternative sux.
  11. I'm selling my collection. It wasn't a warehouse of inventory. The only " stock" I had was maybe a dozen boxes of moderns I picked up for nothing. So far, it is my under copies of SA books, a bunch of BA and some Schomburg covers. The majority was sold through MCS, some was consigned to two friends, some was sold here and some on Craig's list. FF2, a few in the single digits, a bunch below 60, Hulk, 3.5,6, Daredevil2, 7 and a bunch of others. It's not about location as where I live in Cochise County Arizona is three hours south of nowhere. Donut could buy a small country with the proceeds from his raw sales on ebay. I don't want to fight with you. It appears you have not had good success selling raw books. I don't know what you are trying to sell but I'd suggest you find some successful sellers and compare and contrast your selling to theirs. Figure out what they do to succeed and copy it. I hate ebay. In fact I'm about to go on a rave against it over in Comics General.
  12. I've sold over $100,000 so far this year. A wild guess would be about $6,000 were graded.
  13. Any payment sent by check doesn't pay the 3% fee. It's only on credit card and paypal purchases. I've started paying them by Zelle, with no fees. It seems that if they pay a fee, it gets passed on. If they don't incur a fee, they don't charge one. That's my observation, not a definitive answer.
  14. Burn away. I hope people burn their copies of Marvel Special Edition 15. Every book you burn just makes mine more valuable.
  15. I guess it comes down to do you want a consigner who will give your books better grades or one that gets you more money?
  16. It's an age old business model. They lose money on every sale, but make it up with their volume.
  17. That's not really important. What is important is did they get the price they were expecting.
  18. They mail you a check or if you want to pay paypal fees, they can deposit it into your paypal account. They pay out once a week.
