  1. There is nothing wrong with storing your stuff in a storage unit- if it is properly insured. Keep in mind that all that is protecting your stuff is a lock. Get the right policy and you are fine. Adding my two storage units to my renters insurance and my CIA policy cost $3 a week extra. My personal rule of thumb is nothing worth more than $100 goes into storage. Don't make it easy for thieves. If you have sixty identical white boxes, don't write things like Premium wall books for show on one of them. Don't take anyone to your storage unit. Don't discuss your unit with anyone. If you have a valuable collection you must store, consider getting rfid tags for the boxes. Most of all, make sure your insurance is adequate and covers storage units.
  2. Marvel has walking God's, , death worshiping Titans and a kid who got zapped by a radioactive bug and this is the plot hole that goes a bridge too far?
  3. The train from Newark to Midtown doesn't take you through those tunnels. By car, by bus or by taxi, Newark sucks. But if one is taking the train, it is a great alternative. Just not one most New Yorkers consider.
  4. Newark is actually closer to downtown and or the Westside. It also has better public transportation. Not good by taxi or Huber but if you choose public transportation, it's not bad.
  5. I don't think any Marvel Direct Only book can be considered to be Bronze Age.
  6. Not to hijack the thread, but is that Stan in the photo?
  7. I don't really consider Adams/ONeil's work on Batman as a run. It was an era but the stories aren't part of an arc or anything. They are just some good stories amongst mediocre ones from the same time. Their work on Green Lantern had a theme to it. Their Batman stories were simply good, imo.
  8. I must have misunderstood. I was picturing you standing there with complete runs of Fourth World, JO, Kamandi and the like.
  9. Did you really stand there and get him to sign all those books at one time?
  10. Not only that, but some shop owners actually sell books at more than cover price. Outrageous. Nothing fobs me off like a shop asking big bucks for something the manufacturers priced at a quarter or less. Unlike shop owners of the past, some of the new guys practice aggressive forms of capitalism.
  11. In the past, a retailer didn't actually return the book, they tore off the top half of the cover and returned it. Shipping back unsold copies is too expensive. I think they still do that today but don't know. I don't know what Diamond does with the extra copies they get.
  12. Building was built in 1964 and was the as office of one of Bisbees more prominent residents. It was the Southern Arizona Democratic HQ for a few years before the building was leased to the Arizona for State Offices. Most recently, it housed a vintage consignment shop, as well as the Bakery. The lease for the Bakery is up at the end of the year. One really nice thing about this is five of the six rooms have two or more entrances It's not a meandering labyrinth. I doubt many will even think of it. It's just a way of displaying more merchandise. I'll be doing a soft opening and paying attention to customer reaction. So far, the few who have seen it live loved it.
  13. I'm going to keep tossing out ideas, and see which if any resonate. For those who are just joining, a one time recap. I have bought a building in Bisbee, Arizona and am opening five individual businesses inside, as well as fixing up a managers apartment, which I will be living in. Bisbee is a small town of less than 6,000, but does a very nice tourist business ten months of the year. Unfortunately, I am not in the tourist zone. This was not well planned. Bought it on sight, with the "I have a barn, let's put on a show" attitude.
  14. A foreign copy of any book would have to have unbelievable colors and detail before I would consider it over its American Cousin. While I am sure some people will consider them as cheaper alternatives, I personally am indifferent to them. If I come across a bunch of pence copies in great shape, I'm sure I will alter my opinion.
  15. Bisbee has a half dozen coffee shops. They all seem to be very busy but they are all tiny.
  16. Bisbee Collective will be an eclectic mix of businesses in a 2500 square foot building. One 236 square ft. room will be comic related. I'm asking people to examine my ideas and spitball them. Participation is optional. I certainly don't want anyone here that doesn't want to be. As of today, I have a lease with a keto bakery, and a working understanding with a place called Beggars Tomb for them to consign some of their products. Have a second 14 x 31 room that's currently a blank canvas.
  17. If I were to get my hands on a bunch of Australian AF 15, I'd have a vested interest in doing whatever I could to enhance their value. If someone thought the Australian copies came first and wants to pay more, I'd certainly encourage it. Most Americans don't like pence copies. I'm not a fan. If people do ask about them, they always ask for substantial discounts. It's not that Americans are uneducated about them, it's they generally don't want them.
  18. This thread was meant for comics general. I've requested it be moved.
  19. Bar Rescue has worked on four bars I'm familiar with in Vegas. One I was a semi regular at. As of today, one is shuttered and has a Sign saying Coming Soon. One was sold a month or so after, totally gutted and is now a taco stand. The Blues Bar he renovated closed after two months and reopened back as a Blues club. The last one was bizarre. The bouncer thought he had an option to buy it but the landlord sold the lease while they were filming.
  20. I collect American Comics. Foreign books don't interest me. I think most collectors here agree. I own about two boxes of foreign books, but they are curiosity pieces, along side books like Kool Aid Man and Captain Carvel.
