  1. Something doesn't seem right. Are you listing them as new? It's been a few years since I sold on Amazon, so I am curious about this.
  2. Wish I had some Spawn. Can't believe I actually said that. I've never read the comic, but enjoyed the animated series.
  3. I came across this book, it's Fallen Angels 14, and it's in a printed poly bag with a CD of Sky Captain Movie extras. I don't see any on eBay or MCS. Anyone know how rare they are? How they were distributed?
  4. Added some coverless books. Comics make great gift wrappings.
  5. These are culls from a larger collection I picked up. $20 gets them all delivered to you. Paypal only, returns accepted most grudgingly. They might be coverless, spine split, ect, ect. I'll describe each book a bit but consider them to be poor to fair if not worse unless mentioned. GI Joe 21- spine split, no back cover, may be pages from another book mixed in Adventures in Wonderland #1 1955. Severe rodent or insect chewing. A shame as its pretty HG otherwise Coverless 1950s GI Joe comic- solid coverless copy Blackhawk 220 Coverless. Not sure how this got in to collection, its about ten years older than the others. Walt Disney Comics and Stories #171(?) From 1954. A chunk out of cover keeps it from being a VG Zane Grey's Story #357 Edge is chewed pretty bad. Zane Greys Outlaw Trail #511- nice copy if you get by the chewing in the lower corner. Four Color 723 - same as the above copy. Spartacus #1139 Great photo cover of Kirk Douglas. Would be a 6.5-7.0 if not for severe rat chew in lower right corner Round the World in 80 Days #784 - chewed across whole bottom of book, but it doesn't affect the readability. Just added: Ten coverless 1950s books. Blondie, Bugs, Marge, little wise guys. These are clean but cleverness. No chews. Ten once great books, that will give you minutes of pleasure. $20 shipped in the USofA. Foreign shipping at exact cost but wouldn't ship until after Christmas. Domestic ships in 48 hours.
  6. I won an auction on ebay two weeks ago. It turned out I was the only bidder and won it at the opening price, which was bout half my max bid. Paid right away and seller sent a tracking number. Three days ago, he notifies me that he is canceling the sale as it didn't bring as much as he thought. I tell him he can't, that he is bound to honor the sale. Today he refunded my money and again states he canceled the sale because the final price was too low. I've never had anyone do this before. I've had BS excuses why a sale was canceled but never had someone come out and simply say it didn't sell for enough so too bad. My question is how do I report this? I have not left feedback because I am hoping I can get ebay to make him honor the sale.
  7. #14 has an early Hulk appearance and a much better villain
  8. Some people think if it isn't in a yellow CGC slab, an autograph is worthless. They are, quite simply, wrong. They also like to pretend there is only one company in the grading business. The value is relative. If your book was worth $750 unsigned, I'd add at least $250 for the two signatures.
  9. Do you honestly have better things to do than scan pictures of fifty cent books? One needs get their priorities straight. I can't believe you would be happy selling a 50 cent book that had an undisclosed flaw on the back cover.
  10. I propose a committee of 17, to be equally divided into five sub committees. Within sixty days of the establishment of the committee, the standards for choosing the sub-committee should be published for all to examine and a response period of no more than 14 days should be allowed. I'm open to discussing how we name the 17, although senior members should retain veto authority over any committee actions they chose to ignore. Lawlessness should not and must not be tolerated.
  11. A solution in search of a problem. Why waste a moderators time pre approving a thread when a half dozen members will examine each one with a microscope ,hoping to find a rule unadhered to.
  12. Didn't Metropolis announce several years ago that they would not press books and disclose any they knew about?
  13. Finally got rewarded for stopping by a garage sale. Must have been 0 for 2018 until now. Guy had two boxes of DC Showcase Presents and I got him down to $2 each. Turns out a few are kind of scarce- Haunted Tank, House of Mystery.. He also had a number of TPBs for $1 each, including a copy of R Crumbs America, and a 2nd print Watchmen TPB. He also had a set of Essential Tomb of Dracula, but the Volume 1 was a 2nd print so I talked him down from $15 to $10. As I'm walking out, I see an old wooden ship on the floor, under a table. He tells me it doesn't work and sold it to me for $5. Turns out its an Ito Pre-WW2 battleship , and the last one sold for $400 untested. This is missing one copper lifeboat and has a gun placement that was repaired.
  14. I think there is a counterfeit Cerebus 1 in a CGC slab.
  15. As opposed to what? Starting at the top? I imagine Joe Simons first job consisted of emptying ashtrays and cleaning up ink smudges. I doubt any thinking person thought Stan started as Editor in Chief and all around bon vivant.
  16. Mycomicshop will take most 9.8s on consignment. You can set your price or put them in an auction. They generally charge 10% of the sale price, less on higher selling books. Very easy people to deal with, and they pay quickly.
  17. 1) are they all stabbed? 2) how many books 3) are they all moderns? The modern market is very fickle. Books go out of favor as quickly as they got hot. Some dealers specialize in this, others tend to the classic market.
  18. All GPA pricing isn't the same. If you have a stack of modern books with a GPA value of $3,000 and a stack of SA Marvels worth the same $3,000, a dealer will pay more for the SA pile.
  19. I imagine that you are aware that most modern books have very little resale value. If they are in slabs, you'll hardly get back that expense..
  20. I own about a half dozen Stan signed books. Biggest would be an Avengers 1 and a #4 co signed by Joe Simon. I see absolutely no reason why demand will slow down for these books so prices should rise. Will there be enough demand for Stan signatures that it's mere presence on a book dictates three figure minimums? I have no idea. Can you imagine anyone putting together runs of signature series books?
  21. The Book is Called Seven Million. With a subtitle something like Cops, Robbers ,Brinks and The IRA. Bottom line was this IRA hitman was laying low in Queens and decided to open a comic book store. A priest involved with the IRA plotted a huge armored car robbery with some local Jackson Heights lads. They ended up with millions in cash and laundered it through the shop. An absurd tale that no one would believe, except it happened.
  22. There is a book about a comic shop in my old neighborhood that weaves a tale of renegade priests, the IRA,bank robberies, money laundering and Marvels New Universe. It was optioned for a movie but I don't know what happened.
  23. A word to the wise is sufficient. Good luck with your sale.
  24. I'm not sure how they do it, but the most famous alterations usually involve either adding or removing a mint mark. Slipping a 1909 VDB penny by as a 1909S VDB would be an example. 1922 is another one. Another would be gold plating an 1883 5cent piece. Its is almost identical to the $5 gold coins then in circulation and simply has a V ( Roman for 5) as its value.
