  1. Do you think people are picking on you just for fun or is it just possible you are not following the guidelines?
  2. I got the impression he is going to supervise the sale and get a piece of it. I think that's a great way to go, for both parties. Congrats and I hope it goes well.
  3. Adventure 344 was the first book I spent 12 cents on. Used comics were everywhere, either abandoned or in the trash, or sometimes an older kid would come by with a wagon and you'd get a couple of books for a dime. No one in my group bought new comics. Eventually I stopped and didn't read much until I stumbled upon a used Captain Marvel #29.
  4. So you boldly predict that FF 48 and AF 15 will always be worth more than 12 cents in 1965 money. Real risk taker, aren't you?
  5. Only after Captain America commandeered a tow truck and invented sidewalk surfing.
  6. Nice. Was that the Bellmore one or is there a new flea market?
  7. NY State law requires you to pay a use tax on any out of state purchases. Heritage and Metro collect tax, they don't charge it.
  8. My point is that people slab books for many different reasons.
  9. Pete was cool, but the Winglesss Wizard is off the hook
  10. Just 22 books over $50,000K. When I started collecting, Action 1 was a couple hundred dollars. I suspect I could have bought out the entire dealer room at the 1974 Thanksgiving Con for $50,000.
  11. Not in 1981 ,he wasn't. He started making real money when Pearlman bought Marvel and wanted to take it public. In 1981, he was unsuccessfully shopping Marvel to Hollywood.
  12. What happened to the ones your grandfather paid $40 a pop for back in the 80s?
  13. So CGC is the only thing keeping you from a life as a thief. Thanks for sharing.
  14. You can buy plenty of verified Kirby signatures, unless one believes CGC is the only authority on the matter.
  15. When Kirby lived in Mineola/ Williston, kids would just knock on his door and he would sometimes come out. At some point, he had some black and white mini posters made up and he'd sign them. Those don't turn up very often, as far as I know. His California house was more remote so I don't know how visitors were handled. I can't imagine Roz was anything less than welcoming.
  16. I do not believe Stan was getting $10,000 for appearances in 1981. Simply didn't happen. No one charged for autographs then and while Stan was still huge, he'd not yet reached cult status.
  17. I had a Avengers 1 that someone had scribbled all over, writing names above each character and writing the owners name in print. Mycomicshop called it a 2.0. I thought that was low and sent it for grading. It came back a 4.0 and a notation of writing on cover. It sold at the low end of gpa but much more than a 2.0.
