Just speculation,but it wouldn't surprise me if a few people caught on to the fact that they were so liberal on accepting buyers complaints about overgraded books. Telling the buyer just keep the book and we'll credit you is a policy ripe for exploitation.I'm not surprised the guy is no longer in his job.While it might sound foolish to spend $2.76 for a 50 cent item,1) it doesn't really since they are crediting it towards overpriced books,and 2) it cuts down on fraud. You never did answer my question,so I'll ask you again- Couldn't you have done much better with $100 cash to spend at any convention than with $200 in credit towards over-priced books?

If Lonestar is so overpriced,then I think I'd have taken the $100 cash.Looking at his inventory,I could do a hell of a lot better at any con with $100 cash than picking books I didn't want,but take just for the sake of getting something.

After having read thru this thread,what is missing is both BS's emails to Lone Star and their replies. It's curious that BS refuses to take a phone call to clear up the situation,in order to maintain records of the emails. Yet never presents a single email as evidence. I'd love to read the series of emails that went back and forth. I have a feeling the content was as much a cause for the banning as the returns themselves.

Mark and I have been friends for over twenty years,but I must say I find his putting this in a public forum a bit troublesome. In his letter of april 7th,he writes that it would be unfortunate if he needs to bring Silver Age into this,but then sends a cc of the letter to Silver Age.This also bothers me. Then there are the books this guy sent as payment to Brent.They were meant as a payment. Evidently the guy and Brent are having a serious business dispute.Is there any sort of written agreement here?Seems like Brent was expecting the entire amount of the ebay sales until he got his investment back,and the guy seems to think they are splitting it 50-50 all the way. Isn't this the point where Judge Judy would ask to see the written contract and have a few choice words for the two of them? I'm not saying Mark isn't in the right pursuing this evident deadbeat,just that I'm not sure this needs to be here.

Thats odd.Although on further thought,it may well have been 1971.I remember showing my Dad the ad and him saying they must be junk.I was in that hospital twice. Once the nite the final episode of The Fugitive aired and once a few years later. btw-Was there an insert in some comics that advertised one or two year old cars at unrealistic low prices? I remember showing my father these as well,but haven't found the ad in a back issue comic.

I seem to recall getting a few from The St Albans Naval Hospital around 1969.I was surprised by Jims comments,but he has studied them pretty extensively.

Not that I know of...they are vastly less distributed than copies without the insert. Regardless, I'm not sure saying it's less than 10% of the total existing inventory isn't being overly optimist... Jim I would think they would be less than 10% of the printrun.They were only distributed thru Post Exchanges and that couldn't have been 1% of the sales locations. As far as surviving copies go,I've yet to hear of any "hoard" of these turning up ala MH2. Has anyone?

If the books are in NYC,almost any school with an ESL class will be happy to take them.You should be able to get a reciept for full cover/or overstreet value,whichever is higher.

How do people become experts in the restoration field? I can't speak for Matt but the two restorers I know,and POV Row did it the old fashioned way. They apprenticed with experts in the field.AFTER they were shown the techniques,and were given hands-on training,then they proceeded to practice what they were taught.

I thought every comic was sacred,in whatever shape it was in. You people condone someome who at best would be called a rank beginner mutilating comics just for the thrill of it?
