  1. Last Saturday, I did the Tucson Comic and Toy Show. I had a $10 Spawn 1 on my display rack and two in my $5 box. No one asked about the wall book, and one was missing from the $5 box. I had a half box of Spawns and Turtles, priced aggressively, but I told anyone who came by I was offering 30% discounts for three books. I sold over 600 dollar box books, but most at a discount. I had all sorts of looks at a CGC Ultimate Fallout 4, but no one wanted to pony up $500. I had enough interest in my toys that I will bring more next time. Lugging boxes of plastic is easier than comic boxes.
  2. I don't grade higher than 9.2, and yours gets that.
  3. I don't remember him being much of a presence on these boards, but we butted heads many times over there. He suspended me there for something I said here, but I have no idea what it was about. I played more games there than I posted and studied the Whitman/DC section. Pretty much everything I know about those books I learned there.
  4. I'd put it in the 3.0 -3.5 (green label range with no MVS). I'd value the book at around $1,000 as is.
  5. The process is that each person is responsible for the package while in their custody, so any damage will be noted as it transits the system. It will take longer but is considered safer.
  6. I've had it happen several times. Once, when I ordered bottled vodka sauce from a place, and after I got the Amazon message, I called the vendor. The box was noted as damaged in transit and returned to the vendor. All Amazon said was it had been canceled. It'd happened twice on orders that had US addresses, but items were shipped from China. both indicated the item was damaged in transit. I suppose if someone notices a box oozing tomato sauce, it is safe to assume it is damaged and return it.
  7. RIP. I never met him, but I enjoyed his early work. In a very crowded field of new talent, he stood out.
  8. I pay for insurance each year, and hope I don't get a return on that investment.
  9. In New York, teachers have better pension plans than attorneys. Cops and firemen work fewer years but teachers seem have better retirements.
  10. Why settle for destroying original art when one can destroy entire companies and dash the hopes of a whole generation of fans?
  11. It's a good workout. Why pay for a gym when you can load your car with thirty-pound boxes a couple times a weekend?
  12. Make it your responsibility to bring younger collectors into the hobby.
  13. Has the market for the very highest-valued stamps crashed? I know stamp collecting is a dead hobby, but I think the high-end still has significant value.
  14. What would Wolverine have been if he hadn't been included in the X-Men? He might have been a one-off character that faded into oblivion. He might as easily been killed in #95 instead of whatshisname. As long as the royalty checks aren't being cut from 50-50 to 33% each, I'm glad Roy is getting paid for his work transitioning Marvel in the Bronze Age. Claremont, Bryne and Miller had much more to do with the character and his popularity than any of the three creators.
  15. Weren't the writers paid to do the script? What further remuneration should they get? It's their job and they were paid for it.
  16. A call was made. Don't make it out as if Someone in authority dictated the change by calling Len's widow. Will she now collect less money based on her husband's co-creation? It sounds like Marvel/Disney decided to throw an old warrior a bone. Good for them. It's nice to see a corporation can have a heart.
  17. A friend used to collect books with CGC error labels back when they were rare.
  18. While it isn't how I'd have done it, this method seems like it should work fine for you. Best of luck with the move and with your new house.
  19. We used to complain about creators not getting credits, and now we complain when they do. I don't get it. Are they clawing back the millions of dollars Len and John received? Will profit checks be split in two instead of three? Why doesn't anyone argue about who created Thunderbird? I believe Roy Thomas was the guiding light behind the New X-Men. Where would Wolverine be today if he hadn't been plucked from obscurity and put in the group? Does anyone remember his first appearance as being overly popular at the time? People went bonkers when Howard the Duck appeared, and it was the fans who drove Marvel to give him a book. No one was pushing for Weapon X to get a book.?
  20. Do you get to keep the crates? They look like they could be repurposed into a nice shed.
