  1. It looks like he mailed the top one in. I don't feel any passion. I'd never seen that FF piece, but it is mesmerizing. I'll be looking for a print.
  2. Your post is a bit confusing. You want to sell 11,000 books and keep 4,000. Which do you want to list, and why? Are you looking for the Registry, where you list your CGC books, or the sales section to sell your 11,000 books? There is no place to list non-CGC books you aren't selling. I suggest you take some time to familiarize yourself with the various board functions and contribute where possible. Sales by contributing members tend to do better than random driveby threads by non-contributors.
  3. Someone who realized he could buy copies in a shop and not wait for the mail?
  4. Like many things, they look much better at 3 AM.
  5. Who gave a private business the right to certify anything, especially a company that isn't exactly standing by its certifications? Is it fraud against CGC or fraud against the buyer- who was given a chance to look over the book before he bought it? I think it is sleazy, but I also believe any decent lawyer would have a strong defense.
  6. Cheap tin posters of old classic paperbacks would sell well, as most people want the cover, imo.
  7. You could say that about Schomburg but he has gained mythical status. You have to really search to find books he did any interior work on, and I am not aware of him creating anything.
  8. While I like Ross's art much more, he will never reach Kirby's status.
  9. They forgot the newton rings?
  10. Is it really fraud? I have two X-men 94s. One is in a mylar with an NM label and a $4,000 price tag. The other is in a mylar with a VF label and a $2,000 price tag. While doing my monthly check for rusty staples, I accidentally switched mylars. Someone buys the VF book in the NM label and pays $4,000 for it. Where is the fraud? CGC goes to great pains to say their grade is an opinion only , and provides no guarantees that it is accurate. It's a scummy thing to do, and anyone who suspects a switched slab should avoid doing business, with the seller but I'm not convinced it is a crime. I think the lack of any real punishments in these cases is going to encourage an awful lot of imitators and open the door to more scams.
  11. With employees making their own labels for books they stole from the premises and Zanello and his ilk sneaking books through the system, CGC has shown us how minor an issue their Newton ring technology is.
  12. Todd's people have people that read unsolicited fan mail.
  13. I second the nomination, just in case the doushe feels the need to return. He says he is gone for good but he has already shown his word is rather useless.
  14. It's nice to meet someone with so little regard for their integrity.
  15. The best bang for your bucks is the Marvel Omnibus series.
  16. That neighborhood was a ghost town in the mid-1980s when I first went there.
  17. I believe Joe turns 75 this year. I wonder if he's figured out what he will do with his life?
  18. If it is well known that every issue of this variant is handsigned by Todd, why does it matter if CGC puts it in a yellow label?
  19. Having just moved to Tucson in the past few months, I'm still exploring the various comic/card/toy/ shops and what I'm most struck by is how empty they usually are. New comic day and weekends are busy, but I can count on having a long conversation with the staff the rest of the week.
  20. What is the audience for these vintage paperbacks? It seems to me the buyers tend to be older white men. I cant recall the last time I sold a 1950s/60s paperback to anyone under 55. That doesn't speak well for the future.
  21. Joe's place would best be described as organized chaos. My approach was not to look for anything specific. I'd just walk down the aisles and let the books find me. I
