  1. There were 82 participants last year (2017). More than enough time to sign-up... not nearly enough to dilly-dally
  2. Thanks everyone... and keep them coming. I'll be sending out nightly replies to PMs with a confirmation that I've received your sign-ups. If you think I've missed you, just let me know.
  3. Welcome to the 2018 CGC Chat Boards Gift Exchange For those who are new to the Program or otherwise have a very bad memory, the idea is simple. Basically you will give a gift to a fellow board member, and also receive a gift yourself from a different boardie. This way, each person will get to interact with two fellow boardies in the Gift Exchange Program. It does not matter what seasonal Holiday you celebrate, what creed or religion you claim, this Gift Exchange is more about giving and getting a gift than celebrating a specific holiday. We are celebrating comics and our community. Times may currently be tough for some, but it is worth pausing to recognize the importance the CGC community brings to each of you. Some Details on the Gift Exchange Program How much should my gift be for? Up to you. There are people that send gifts that have values that are all over the place. $15-20? Sure. $50-$100? Sure. You are certainly welcome to send more expensive gifts, but the gift should be worth at least $15. Lots of people just give something from their own collection, so the cost is negligible. Does my gift have to be new? No Does it have to be comic related? Yes Am I supposed to sign who my gift was from? Yes, you should - your identity is only secret till they open their gift. Do I have to wrap my gift in a Holiday fashion? Yes. Extra points for wrapping it in the Sunday Comics Am I supposed to wait until Christmas to open my gift? Yes, unless you celebrate another holiday in which case, follow your holiday gift opening tradition. How will I know who I am Santa for? You will receive a PM with your recipients details once sign up is over. When is sign up over? Friday, November 23rd at 11pm (ET) PMs with your Secret Santa information will be sent out over the following weekend. Everyone who signs up will have their PM by Sunday night (11/25). This gives everyone 1 full month to shop, wrap, and ship. It seems like a long time, but it goes quickly and shipping, obviously, takes longer over the Holiday season... so please, if you sign-up, DO NOT DELAY!!! What if I miss sign up but want to participate? Sorry. No late sign-ups will be accepted this year. If you know a board member who you think would like to participate, contact them asap so they do not miss the deadline. What if I never receive my gift? There will be people who will be assigned as a back up Santa. Everyone who signs up will get a gift... sooner or later. Who is eligible to participate? Anyone who signed up to be a member of this community on or before August 1, 2018 with a current post count of at least 25 is eligible for participation in the Gift Exchange (For those who do not meet the above criteria, we, as a community, apologize. Hang-in there and be active... next year will be worth the wait.) What and when is the Holiday raffle? People will be donating comic related prizes that will be given away after the Holiday is over in a blind drawing. More details about that will be in another thread. Although the gift exchange form does include a line for Raffle submissions, the raffle is completely separate from the Holiday Gift Exchange. Participation in the gift exchange does not automatically enter you into the raffle. Anyone who wants to be part of the raffle must donate an item. This assures everyone who joins is guaranteed to receive a prize. If you don't join in with the gift exchange, but would still like to join in with the raffle, just donate a prize to the raffle and you'll be entered. Not participating in the gift exchange? Not donating a prize for the raffle? That's okay, as well. If you decide, after submitting your form, that you would like to donate and be part of the raffle, simply bump the PM or wait until the Official Raffle Thread and add it there. The rules are simple, but need to be followed to make sure everyone who signs up gets a present by Christmas. If you sign up, please follow through and don't wait until after the fact to fulfill your duties. To officially "sign-up" Fill out the questions below then PM this info (cut and paste fashion) to me... HollyJollyOne <---- linked here ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- **Please make sure to create the PM with your BOARD NAME AND 2018 as the title.** CGC Board name: Real name: Mailing address: Collecting preferences (what you might like to receive): Who were you Santa for last year: Who was your Santa last year: Would you be willing to ship to board members outside of your country (i.e. Are you willing to ship Internationally)? Would you be willing to be a back up Santa in case someone cannot/does not follow through? If you are willing to be a back up Santa, are you willing to ship Internationally? Would you like to participate in the CGC Holiday Raffle? What is that Raffle Gift? (description and/or url with a link to the item) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And that's all there is to it! Just a reminder. Please do not use a prior years PM to submit this years form. Just create a NEW PM to me with the proper "2018" header to avoid any confusion. Also, do not edit your PM and expect me to see the changes on your form. PMs do not receive notifications for edits so unless I read it again and again I may never see the changes. If you absolutely need to correct a mistake or add information before the deadline for form submission on Friday, November 23rd, just make a separate message and bump the original PM. Happy Holidays everyone!
  4. This is from last year. Who is eligible to participate? You are eligible if you registered for the CGC boards before November 9th, 2016 and/or have a post count of at least 150 by November 9, 2017, provided that you are a member in good standing with the community, i.e., not on the CGC Chat Board Marketplace Probation List. (This way, those who have become active members of the CGC Chat Boards after the change in Feb. 2016 may still participate.) There you go then. It's in writing But not written in stone. Please remember that information above is from last year. It's possible that all that could change.
  5. I received a notification today from the last board member standing and his present has been received. With that being said, I want to thank everyone for a wonderful Holiday season. This community never ceases to amaze me with its friendship and generosity. It has been a fun time interacting with all of you. Hopefully, if I'm needed for next year, I'll get to do it all over again. -HJO
  6. Patriot6 was his SS. We've talked via PM and he has not heard from Selecta either. Another casualty of the Gift Exchange is that someone actually sent the "alleged" deadbeat a gift.
  7. Start a PayPal case to get your money back. If you haven't already, just to follow the board guidelines, send a separate PM to Selecta stating that you are nominating him for probation. The 30 day time period seems to have passed. Selecta was also a deadbeat Santa during the Gift Exchange... Hopefully he's okay.
  8. I just got back. Trying to catch up on a bunch of things (lol). I will have a PM out to Iceman soon for his mystery box. Alex I think Iceman is on vacation as well.
  9. I've been in contact with both parties of everyone who has reported to me about not receiving a gift. For the most part, it looks like some shipping delays are the cause of most of these headaches.... MOST! Thanks for all those who have offered to be back-up Santas. It is greatly appreciated and I will definitely take you up on it if the need arises. Which, given the dwindling if not already surpassed timeline might be fairly soon. I'm new to this, and I do not want to assign a back-up for something I'm told is on its way... but I don't expect anyone to wait until spring showers bring mayflowers either.
  10. Next year we should hold the Raffle live from Hawaii.
  11. AlexH is currently on vacation in Hawaii. Be patient, he'll get back with you.
  12. @Architecht@Scott =)@dena hopefully someone will be around to help with this, but with it being a holiday and a weekend, you'll probably accomplish it over the 4-days before you get a response. I know, as a "newer" member, there are some restrictions on PMs, but for me they only lasted 24 hours and I cannot imagine why they would be affecting you. This past November, I was able to send over 80 PMs in the course of just a couple hours with no problem. I know it doesn't help for now, but it may attract the attention of someone higher-up who can help.
