  1. So Musings #2 came out almost 30yrs ago (yes we're all old now). I'm thinking of getting it CGC'd because it's an oddity that may be of interest to Spawn collectors. There are only 4 on the census that have ever been graded, the highest is a 9.6 (of which there is only one). As an indie comic there aren't many raw copies on ebay either and because these were read and not collected they're all (charitably) 7.5/8 or lower condition (from what I see). I'm wondering what the hardcore fans might think of a book like this, it's not a first appearance like a Malibu Sun but it's also kind of a cool outlier that may be significantly rarer. I'm wondering what I might price it at (my copy is 9.6/9.8 territory). It's one of those things that I could throw it up on ebay for $150-$200 but be significantly burned if interest gathers on it down the road - and given the shape mine is in compared to others that may pop up I doubt it will have much competition. Are the spawn collectors intrigued by a book like this? Let me know your thoughts below.
  2. Some Spicy Badgirl Stuff: Blam & Glam kickstarter signed by the author + new Joe Madureira books + Lady Death
  3. I've been debating whether to send the Musings Spawn issue off to CGC to grade (to put up for sale). Mine is definitely high grade 9.6/9.8 territory. I just don't know how Spawn collectors would see its value. Currently there are only 4 on the census and the highest is a 9.6 (of which there is only 1 of) everything else is lower grade. There are a handful of raw copies on ebay but they're all listed as 8 or below (and mostly well below - even the self-described 8 is highly questionable), it's not the kind of book that was stored well. It's a tricky book to assess because on the one hand it's not in the same territory as a Malibu Sun but it is a rare book that's maybe noteworthy and has potential to garner more interest over time so just pricing a high grade copy for $150 or so might look incredibly stupid a few years down the road if it gains more notoriety or interest. What do others think a high grade copy should be priced at? Is it of interest to the hardcore spawn collectors? If newshane were still building his collection would it be a must own? Maybe I should make this its own thread.
  4. I haven't even looked at it really. Do you say it's favorable to buyers because it's auction only or something? What do you shop for (out of curiousity)? Of the stuff I've CGC'd (from my teenage years in the 90s) very little of the superhero stuff is anything I care about holding on to as well.
  5. Just out of curiosity, there was a book called Musings. Issue #2 had spawn on the cover and featured an interview with McFarlane. I always wondered how well known it is, desirable, etc among Spawn diehard collectors - and whether it is worth getting graded.
  6. If it went more than a dozen I would be surprised, but I would guess about 6 (enough to be put into a trade paperback).
  7. Not to get off-topic but is comic-link worth trying to sell on for cgc'd moderns?
  8. Back from CGC this week (minus 3 others I have to return due to QC errors >.<). Kind of curious what people will think of this newsstand X-men signed by Madureira. With Battlechasers coming back it seemed like the right time to dig it up and get it listed.
  9. Back from CGC this week (Technically I have 3 more but I'm sending them back due to QC errors... >.<). Wish the Newsstand signed Madureira came back a touch higher but any newsstand is a good newsstand right?
  10. I'm selling some CGC'd books from my collection - many signed. Below is the complete list. https://www.ebay.com/sch/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=&_ssn=noodles1771&_sop=1 All books sold so far have shipped out within 24hrs of sale and are carefully and attentively packed. All CGC Cases are Mint and literally have not been removed from the return box from CGC aside from the pictures taken for the listings below. They are not being taken to trade shows etc - these are from my personal collection. Feel free to e-mail any questions. Thanks for looking! 11. I have no idea but of all modern stuff out there Bone has an international audience, (it's been translated to I don't know how many languages), it's much beloved etc so I feel it shouldn't be less than 10k (as a floor) given how small that initial print run was and the fact there's less than 20 9.8s on the census. To me it merits between 20-40k given the impact of the characters and how timeless it is, but ultimately the price of something is determined by what people are actually willing to spend so
  12. I used to keep the slabs in the bag when shooting photos because it minimized reflections but the new bags they use make it impossible given they're not as transparent (unfortunately). :P
  13. I have a few of these. I could dig them out and post pics if people are curious. I've debated whether there would actually be enough interest in them to CGC. The grades are not terrible but there are definitely some spine ticks etc. I have Quesada's signed. I was just young enough when these were coming out that I was the target market and my local comic shop had them.
  14. I just got my Cosplay Kickstarter variant back. I have two so if someone buys it then they helped pay for the kickstarter and I can CGC my raw backup copy. If not it just sits in my box - no biggie. I will say that despite the number of variant covers I only ever find myself liking one or two. I would almost be happier if Coffin learned how to calm down on the endlessly long email spam with poor graphic design before worrying about the number of variant covers.
