    Verification 'tools'?  Like what, eyes?

No, its a secret, surely they're only say "our own proprietary verification tools," because they don't wanna give out the secrets to their high tech revolutionary signature authenticating machine.

So does any level of their listed services actually perform restoration detection?

They blatantly say that the Raw Grade doesn't include restoration "detection", so I would assume for the regular "slab" grade, yes?? (whatever kind of "detection" that may be)

The census is not useful in the way you think it is. It is very limited, narrow data.

There are many factors that can't be ignored when trying to compare different issues. While you can reasonably account for some of them, others are much more difficult. Regardless, it's all extra work that involves far, far more than just looking at the current numbers.

Allright. Got it, its useful, but should be taken lightly.  :takeit:

I'm trying to ascertain how much you actually know and understand, so I can figure out whether it's worth the effort to try and dispel your misconceptions.

 You must be the first person ever to say that you need the census to know that a common book (like ASM 300) is common. And even then, you still don't understand how common it actually is.

I guess I have my answer. Apparently it's going to take a lot of time and work.

Seriously, do you know anything about comics?

You don't actually have to post. You can just read and learn.

    Did you read my post?

I never said you "need" the census. I said it is a "useful tool." I know a thing or two about comics. (aquaman...cough cough) Maybe not as much as you. I'm only refuting people's comments that the census isn't useful. My point is completely valid. Its a useful tool for comparison and to judge the commonality of a book compared to others. If you disagree with that statement, I'd love to here an actual response or retort.

    That's not true.

What's untrue about it? Is the census not useful to compare books of equal importance? Even if there are x times many more copies, the ratio should stay pretty consistent if the books are equal in importance.

  6. 15 minutes ago, RockMyAmadeus said:

Yes. There are probably 10 times the number of extant copies that are raw than are on the census.

Okay so furthering my point I underestimated the #copies of ASM 300, so it's even more common than I thought. Thank you. Still think its overpriced.

    So what is this

    supposed to mean?

That's just my estimate of how many copies there are. I guess I could be wrong on the exact number of copies. I'm confused are you just looking for things to say, "actually" to? 😕

Aquaman was just a backup character. He was one-dimensional and just good enough to fill some space. Did anything of even minor importance happen in any of his stories before that? As you said, they didn't even bother to give him a name! :whatthe:

What is the first appearance of the "SA Superman" then? Superman in the SA is significantly different than the character from Action Comics 1, so they must be completely different characters with separate first appearances, right?

First SA Superman or current version is the first Superboy, although those differences are way more minor than Aquaman. Differences between SA and GA superman are just when he started fighting crime one as a boy the other as a man. The differences ae still not as great as GA v SA aquaman tho.

  9. In this case I would say the census holds about half or more of the supply of 300, regardless the census is useful when comparing to other books and there value. If a key book with 1,000 copies of equal importance is getting $x dollars we can compare that to a book with 18,000 copies going for $y. Its not a useful tool to judge the overall population of a book, but it is to judge a books rarity (if it is a slab worthy key) compared to other comics.

My mind is blown. Thank you for sharing this information.

I also think the fact that he is not on the cover of AC 260 makes things worse.

I have never been a huge fan of Aquaman but after learning these facts I am on the hunt for AC 260, especially after doing some research of the value.

Probably the biggest might as well get it books out there.

    No problem, happy hunting!
