I’m not missing anything . It’s always been rare . Why the sudden surge into the realm of unattainable . 70% or more of the books graded are all high grade 7.0 and up so it’s not that rare in grade . The second prints and third prints are same book and tbh the second prints are way rarer than the first in cgc yet they don’t get nearly the value . I’m kinda waiting for bottom to fallout here . If I owned today I’d def be selling and buying lower grade copies again . as for kids now being of age to buy .... wtf are people smoking ? Entry level on this book is like 10K how many people buy books at that price point ? Not many sorry ! The only people buying these are dealers , auction houses or Uber wealthy collectors not kids!!!
-
I wouldn’t pay that money for any of those grades. It’s ludicrous . You can get silver age keys that will yield better long term payouts than this spec driven madness . Seriously 5.0 is 12K now ? Two years ago 9.0 was 5K. These books keep getting recycled meaning wealthy flippers buy then keep reselling at premiums . No way this is real . I’d like someone to keep track of the cgc ID numbers let’s see how this plays out

I can’t believe I traded my 9.0 . At that time it was 5K. These comic prices are ridiculous . We are in another lockdown in Canada nobody is making money and I’m completely baffled at housing surges in price , comics , watches , people have gone mad!!!!!

Def . The front was super clean but on the back side it had slight creasing towards the spine that couldn’t be pressed and the other which is not as obvious a slight colour rub of fine black on the white parts of the cover . -

That sucks but in the end when he’s dead and gone it may not matter knowing he actually signed and drew on the cover . It will be ok -

Bring in experts . I agree COAs are useless but huge auction houses have pros to verify that so what’s CGGs issue ? They have the money offer the service -

The new collector does not give a about some old way or code of buying it’s clear . This market has trended up and up and up it’s been that way for years now . It’s not crashing or bottoming out unless everything pop culture does first . That’s fact and last time I checked Disney was not in the business of bankruptcy . It’s becoming more difficult to get top grade books because new collectors know that’s where the biggest money is . It took them ten seconds to find that on google search . day traders deal in a complete financial farce built on trillions of dollars in debt pretending they actually have assets lmao. Make believe world a financial utopia soon to be brought to its knees by the big red machine . I def won’t park my money there .

I’m a big fan of the black suit and I’ll give my two cents on this topic . We are now in a generational collecting phase with these issues. I had them in the 80s during my young teens now decades later they are being scooped up as it ties to Venom which was evolution of the original concept ASM 252. I absolutely think this book continues to grow but not at this frenzied pace and I highly recommend 9.8 as it’s toughest to find . Thousands of these have been graded . The best grab although a very expensive one is 9.8 Canadian price variant and it will command a huge price tag as will ASM 238 Canadian . books like Marvel Team Up 141 and Secret Wars 8 are cool but I don’t put them on the same pedestal . That being said Venom is such a huge character today . I loved his appearances in Amazing Spiderman I’d grab 299,300,315,316,317. That covers his McFarlane era appearances all of those have room to grow in 9.8. Anything under that is very common . The ASM 300 is very difficult to find in 9.8 for a mass produced comic it’s will continue to grow and if you have the coin invest in high grade newsstands . I believe in these comics although from the modern era now in twenty years time these are talked about classic Marvel books. Take that to the bank

The ignorance is beyond words . Go find an X thread you can talk about Jubilee or something , now there’s a winner !!!! if you want to talk punk and dump try these new mutants 87,98 uncanny xmen 266 between the three of them they have what 20K copies graded lmao. Compare numbers and then impact those three books have compared to ASM 252 I’ll take the Spiderman anytime over that charcoal.

ASM 252 is not a minor key and I can’t believe some of the ignorant comments on here . This book for example is first cover hommage of AF15 and ushered in a new era for Spiderman . A much needed overhaul from a lack lustre Bronze Age . Those stories aside from the intro to Punisher blew hard . The art was even worse . The census is low for a mass produced comic and it also had very rare price variant . All that being said it set the stage for one of the biggest new villain intros in Spider-Man’s illustrious run .... Venom. Minor key is laughable just stupid imo. It’s a cover that will be recognized 100 years from now. That’s impact!

That’s not true at all . The only reason anything is worth something is because an individual pays decides to pay for it . Clearly we are being shown it’s not a property owned by comic collectors and people have become bitter and upset . It’s not going away . The old guard matters in that we are way more knowledgeable than just money but it’s ludicrous to think comic collectors own this right .

Just grabbed this today and have seen crazy prices already for this . The nostalgia of this cover brought me back to 1990 when I seen the Jim Lee poster for the first time ( had mine signed by him 😜 . It’s still one of the best Jim Lee drawings ever imo . Love both of these
