  1. Hey that’s your opinion . I grew up in 80s nostalgia is there for me. TBH the best Venom was McFarlane’s he drew him for what 4 issues ? That’s it . Don’t get me wrong I love both soft spot for early 80s I was roughly 9-10 years old for hobgoblin stuff
  2. That’s ok you can but only three bad guys in modern era were “ big “ adds hobgoblin venom carnage hobgoblin was in pretty much every book from 1983-87 venom then came slowly and exploded in 90s . No argument of Venom being bigger but in 1980s he def was not! The 238 is way harder to find I expect we are nowhere near ceiling on this one
  3. Honestly the ASM 238 is much rarer in 9.8 and just as big for a villain . Both of these are monster books in grade
  4. ASM 252 CGC 9.8 Canadian Newstand price variant $ 0.75
  5. Little plug for thread . My two copies of early Hobgoblin stories
  6. Well I guess I have one of those clunky sigs but it’s on a monster book these days I’ll hope it appreciates in a healthy way. I bought this last year for less than a blue label price on a character from my childhood I loved . I think the book is great
  7. Anyone see these two whopper sales. One earlier this week the other more pricey one ( non newsstand today ?????)
  8. Weird question but does anyone think in the last year Stan signed items those would fetch a greater premium because of the drama that followed him . I know in 2018 he did two shows in January then what followed was a mass cancellation of venues until he finally did one in April. His reps were horrible from what I’ve read and he didn’t do any cons after that except an in home Uber limited signing in October . He passed shorty after that . Most sigs from this year were not as clear as in earlier years but the fact it was his last year would this add to the already collectable sig market ? It’s a bit of a dark twist on things but I am curious as there can’t much material from that last year he was alive .
  9. Just posted a want ad but I thought I’d leave a post if someone could possibly help out . Looking for issues 11,13,14,15,16 in cgc 9.8 from the original mirage run . Thanks
  10. Just posted a want ad guys but I’m looking for these issues from original mirage run in cgc 9.8 blue labels . Any direction or help will be appreciated issues 11,13,14,15,16
  11. Wow that would do it .... after this a frenzy starts and FOMO sets in and the rest is history . It wasn’t just issue 1 that bumped up . Look at 2,3,4 variants of and TMNT adventures 1. They all sell for quadrupole what they did few years ago. I just hope for the fans and collectors out there people don’t get hurt financially if this stuff falls back down to earth . Many in the card industry said an imminent crash is coming and we all went through these in 90s. I buy what I love and some of it is expensive but I don’t “ invest “ in collectsbles . I feed OCD more than anything else lol.
  12. I agree but you don’t see golden age stuff dumped like this or silver/bronze age . Obviously if a few thousand dollars turned into tens of thousands I’m out and I’d buy something more viable to hold onto but it’s still puzzling . I’m now watching sports cards and super hero cards breaking thousands upon thousands and the last time I checked most people in North America have hit a wall economically during Covid. This is very bizarre
  13. Plenty of these coming to market . It worries me people want to cash in . If the book has staying power why not hold ? It’s rare enough and high grade enough ? This whole thing really creeps me out . Two years ago I paid 5K for 9.0. The increase in not just this , in all keys is staggering and something is off to me . My two cents
  14. I was close .... damn that’s a lot of money
  15. Not sure what his deal is other than he’s a huge fan and doesn’t wait to dream for big books. He goes after them . He purchased restored Subby 1 Timely 2.5 had it brought back to blue label 2.5!. Some incredible stuff he posts .
  16. That book came from a two way trade that saw original owner trade TMNT 1 and a slew of old Detective Comics and a sum of cash to obtain a copy of Whiz 1 comics in 3.0. I follow him on Instagram and he owns some impressive comics in Superman 1 and Submariner 1 etc. His logic was the Whiz comics 1 was holy grail from golden age and very few affordable copies exist ( the 3.0 last sold for 75K USD ) so he made his move . I think he will hunt down another TMNT in future was his plan.
  17. I think money will trickle down to 9.6 now as that 9.8 price won’t continue to attract buyers imo. It’s way too much for a book that’s not that scarce tbh. They are rotting in bins out there guaranteed . What do I know ? That’s serious coin right there . I’ll trade both my 9.6 Canadians for 1 cgc 9.8 Canadian . Hit me up.
  18. Don’t think you can do anything but that price is crazy high with so much time left . Don’t be surprised if he cancels his bids a day before auction end
  19. If you want to speculate buy these in 9.8s if you can find them . Stellar covers and tough in grade . Both well over 1K US currently and imo should be over 2 due to their rarity. The error version I don’t even know how to price ...
  20. I have 2 cgc 9.6 Canadian variants where would these price compared to 1.00 US versions as I’m seeing staggering numbers for 9.8s in both US and Canadian versions
