  1. I'd wanted a great example of Cordelia from The Magic Order by Olivier Coipel and had been inquiring about pages for months! I knew pages were offered for sale at SDCC and was anxious to see what would be available by the time NYCC rolled around. Spent most of my Saturday at Kwan's booth going back and forth between the pages he still had. The Magic Order was highly in demand and everyone, and I mean everyone, that stopped at the table looked through the binder...with many pages already on hold or sold I agonized between which page I should buy. Phil H was beyond helpful and patient during the whole process and in the end I went with TWO fantastic pages. Truth be told if I had first crack at pages I would have ended up with these two, so I consider myself beyond fortunate to be the proud custodian of the original artwork. Thanks for looking.... 2. So I've been attending cons with an eye towards original art and I've noticed that art dealers/agents will often times write, in pencil, the price of the art, either on the top/front corner of the page or the back of the art. Once the art is yours are you inclined to erase it or leave it? Part of me feels the notation, while not having anything to do with the art process is a matter of historical record and might be interesting to others in the future. The other part of me feels it was added by someone other than the artist, has nothing to do with the art process, can easily be removed, and maybe it's even a bit distracting. Thoughts? Do you erase or do you keep?
  3. Yeah not sure about those details. I assume the VAT was paid upon original delivery... does it get reassessed upon return?
  4. Has anyone ever filed an insurance claim with USPS and what was your experience like? My cousin recieved some commission art sent to the USA from the UK. it arrived in perfect condition but the art felt a bit incomplete and the art dealer agreed to take it back so the artist could "finish it". It was sent back in the same manner it was recieved but due to international mail issues a VAT was assessed and rather than pay the tax the dealer let it sit in customs for 60 days and it was sent back to my cousin... the idea was to send it back as a "return" to avoid the VAT. when the art finally arrived back to the USA the packaging was gouged and while the art wasn't punctured it was damaged....USPS has denied to honor the claim... what's the point of paying $80 for insurance??
  5. Never get tired looking at this, the spiral staircase makes my brain hiccup
  6. Amazing Tokyo Ghost cover... when I picked it up from Sean's dealer I was asked if i was certain i wanted to take possession and that the legendary @stinkininkin had expressed interest. it's my wife's favorite piece.
  7. To me the real difference comes in the common experience published art affords us - an experience which you don't get with unpublished. The cover to THAT issue, the panel or page to THAT story. Published art = nostalgia.

  10. I've often gone looking for this sort of find at local estate sales but gave up thinking that if original art did turn up, in this day and age, anyone can Google and, with little effort, know the true value of what they have.... guess not?
  11. Im not used to picking up new art in such a "rapid fashion", forgot to share these little gems https://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=1568107

  13. Don't have enough of a collection to point to a theme but am a sucker for 1. Perspective shots showing great depth. 2. Artists inking their own pencils. 3. Published art. 4. Pages that capture a moment and leave the observer to wonder what happened next
