  1. Will you pay cash for your pizza? No. Will you pay cash for a high end piece - probably yes. Especially if it implies what your concluded.
  2. I'd say this Sean Murphy page from his Chrononauts run w/ Mark Millar. The story goes something like this: about five years ago I stumbled upon Sean's work. I was looking for other Scott Snyder stories, because I was loving his run on Batman w/ Capullo. The Scott search lead me to The Wake and then PRJ and then Sean's current story, at the time, Chrononauts. I'd never bought original art before and sadly it had never occurred to me that one could buy and own art (my 16 year old self walking around with a thousand dollars in my pocket at the 1988 NYCC is still kicking himself). Sean's twitter account mentioned his art dealer, that lead me to his art agent's website (at the time Jason). I was able to reach out to Jason and got to go visit him and see all of Sean's work. This was going to be my first OA purchase and I went in thinking i'd spend $300-$500. I was overwhelmed by the choices and left the meeting telling Jason I had to think about it but had narrowed down the options between a handful of interior Chrononauts pages but was probably going to go with this page (see below). In the meantime, Chrononauts wrapped up and Tokyo Ghost had started being released. I somehow went from deciding between a handful of interior Chrononauts pages to eventually getting a cover from Tokyo Ghost (big jump in price). A few years later I got to meet Sean at NYCC and we got to talk and hang out. I only had a Saturday badge for NYCC and Sean asked me to come around to his booth the next day. I explained I didn't have a Sunday badge and he explained he had something for me....I didn't think much of it but later his new agent, Geoff, reached out to me and asked for my mailing address - telling me again - Sean has something for you. Imagine my surprise when I receive in the mail, this page. The original page I was so close to buying a few years prior!!
  3. Vintage stuff: Walt Simonson Frank Miller Modern stuff: Walt Simonson Sean Murphy
  4. Used this for another thread about pandemic art or something to that effect. Hearing too many stories of families losing loved ones while they themselves are in hospital battling the virus.
  5. The art aspect is more where I was focusing. How will the disruption and potentially slow recovery of the publishing aspect inform OA prices - will modern art values, for stories with anemic sales, drop? Will folks focus more on the older art? Most of everything I own is modern/contemporary. Published in the last five years or less. And to your point, will the artists holding onto pages be compelled to let them go? Will art dealers who rely on conventions be forced to have online sales to drive demand? No one will get a deal on a Dark Knight page, but there are lots of strata to the OA market and demand might dwindle and shift.
  6. This mornings Art section in the NYTimes had an article about Diamond distributors and the impact the virus and the supply chain has had on the comic book industry. If/when the industry gets back up and running - will sales return? How long will that take? Will comic book sales atrophy, and if so wont low book sales mean OA from this time will be less desirable and essentially less valuable relative to pages from books right before the pandemic? Can Comic Books Survive the Coronavirus Era? https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/10/arts/comic-books-coronavirus.html
  7. If it's someone with a black hole collection and they want to sell me something that is rightfully theirs - SURE! 100% If the assumption is that they came to possess the art through less than scrupulous means - hard pass. Homie dont play that
  8. Oldest and longest are same here... im still green - plus I'd never part with this cover
  9. No, only this page....wish all it took was Freeze tech or Batman on his supercomputer and a microscope to find a cure.
  10. CTV News has a Twitter account, can't hurt to DM them with the image and ask the question. I've seen lots of hosts and guests that are broadcasting from home. Am always curious what sort of things they put behind themselves: acoustic guitar, photos, model sailboats, etc. I've been waiting for someone to speak in front of a wall of OA.....nice find.
  11. Fantastic additions. Your monthly aspirations are on par with my yearly - in a pure dollar aspect. Im on the hunt for a Mazzucchelli BA and have to weigh every piece of enticing art against keeping my powder dry for when I get to take my shot
  12. Dave Cockrum, I'm told, loved reading/ collecting comics. The owner of my LCS recently told me Dave was at my local shop for a signing event. At the end of the day Dave wanted to trade original X-Men art for comic books. The owner of the store didn't take the trade... hindsight is 20/20 All hearsay, but thought it was an interesting story.
  13. Just a general statement that I would love to see the space the framed artwork occupies in the room
  14. As a newbie I enjoy these interviews with youngblood collectors.
  15. Yep @vodou nailed it. Here's a commission I picked up from Tim Virgil back in 1991. Your friends commission is Princess Zena Tragem, from his Indie comic Omen. Sorry for the loss.
  16. Beautiful! I may have to ask my framer about floating look!
  17. Checked out the site, on my phone, a few nights ago...and again today on PC. Just an FYI - cant sort or search by Artist. Good luck!
  18. I submitted an entry in the Covers category. It got 4 votes (thanks to those that took the time and found favor with my entry). I didn't vote for my own cover...there were so many other great entries. If I thought I deserved to be in the top 5 I'd vote for myself, but the submissions in all category were pretty great.
  19. Was nice to be able to scroll using next and previous, but load times were too long and no way to denote the page you'd like to vote for without having to then pull out and then find in drop down. Need to figure out a way to allow 5 pages to be selected and edited within current view without all the clunky back and forth. Ideally should be able to drag and drop an image and rather than have the names/ descriptions should show a thumbnail image.
  20. 2nd place in the published splash page, pinup category - honored and humbled. So much amazing artwork, was hard to narrow the categories down to only five. Thanks for all the hard work. Happy hunting in 2020.
