  1. Yep. Every single one I can afford at any rate. I haven't updated my list since this and the Planet #1 came in but I think I'm passed 60%. I'm getting onto the $$$ books now though so it's slowing down. I think next year's big acquisitions will be The Mask #1 and Blue Beetle #54.
  2. This finally came in from a Heritage Sunday sale in November: Cover is attached and tight, pages are off white. They graded it Fair.
  3. I was gonna email to see if you got them today but I guess this answers my question! (thumbs u
  4. A work in progress... There are some tough books on this cover that I may never get like Green Giant #1 & Tec #2 (can't afford) or New Adventure #27 & Amazing Mystery Funnies V2 #2 (can't find). But the missing will get picked off one by one nonetheless. Some of these are undercopies or pre-CGC scans. The back cover of Gerber's The Photo-Journal Guide to Comic Books, Volume Two (K-Z)
  5. I'd settle for just those stinky ol' Fantastics.
  6. The only other one I've ever seen since I started collecting the Gerber cover covers in 2003/2004 was on eBay with a detached cover and amateur resto as I recall and it still went for something like $200. It's like the Rocket 3 where I've only seen one other and it was in worse shape (a Rocket 3 on eBay in Poor sold for more than I could pay at the time). I always like an excuse to show this book off. Picked it up a long time ago and feel very fortunate to have it. Ken If that's unrestored and you'd like to, you know, unload the heavy burden that book must be on your collection, feel free to let me know.
  7. Bob had one listed but his listing notes 28 pages. I wonder if yours is a later printing...? Does it look like it's missing pages? I found it by accident because I tried Saalfield as the publisher. http://209.85.173.104/search?q=cache:NabCMYTFlbMJ:www.blbcomics.com/comics/platpage.php+popeye+saalfield+944&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us
  8. I'm looking in the 2006 guide but Popeye is always evasive since it's spread out. It's not in the BLBs or the Victorian section either. Who's the publisher? Perhaps Mr. Beerbohm knows...?
  9. Not every day, no. But some days. http://comics.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=17114&Lot_No=16457 http://comics.ha.com/common/view_item.php?Sale_No=17114&Lot_No=16288 Nice pickups though, especially the #1. With the internet now, there is barely anything that is not around some days! It helps when you're looking for them. I always am. I love all the early Feature and Large Feature comics. What do you know about that Popeye book BTW?

  11. Of course the karma angle just occurred to me, what with my needing a New Adventure 27 also. It's going to be some race to find one of those... Well, best of luck to you on that one!! On the other hand, I'll beat you with a stick if you find an AMF 2/2 before me!! I'll get a padded shirt ahead of time. But maybe we'll find two...?

  14. underbidder on this one too...that argo is strong It was affordable even though I went way over what I planned to bid. I was live bidding on that one and the itchy finger won out. It's that shiny red button in the middle of the screen that just says, "Push me...it's only a few more bucks...what's $25 but a half tank of gas these days...? Pussshhhh theee buuuuttttooonnnn...."
  15. i bid on this one agro, but you were too strong. i did get the other two hits that were up that nite. I went so far as to call Heritage and ask them to pull it out for me to describe the condition specifics over the phone. That book wasn't going to get away from me. I don't like bidding wars or outbidding forumites (who knew?) but that was one I had to have.
  16. Well, they're not in hand per se, but I did just pay for these: Recent Signature auction: Last Sunday's auction:  More Gerber cover covers! Now I really gotta start selling some books!
  17. Okay, so maybe it's not as nice as the MM #5 or White Streak and not as big a book as the Tec 31 or Sensation 1, but it's taken me 4 years to get my hands on a copy of this book! Many thanks to Sharon!
  18. Kudos to Skypinkblu for some awesome Rocket Comics. Shipped fast, packed well, and killer books to boot. Now I can erase something else from my sig!
  19. Thanks! (If I was one of the "both" too excited to read) Sure you were. We're cheering you on with your Gerber cover chase. Do the Planet 1 complete a column, a row, a partial diagonal for you? Cool! The Planet #1 anchors a column that I will complete the day I have $10k to by a Green Giant #1 or a row that will complete the day I can afford a GL #1 and can even find a New Adventure #27! But I think it does put me close to 60% overall. The back cover of volume 2 seems the easiest to work on so far.
  20. Thanks! (If I was one of the "both" too excited to read)
  21. No ! I'm gonna have to blow out some things quick. I just bought those Rockets from Sharon too. I guess most of my SA & BA will finally go away. No more collecting conflict. But no more FF either. *sniff* Maybe I should turn my copper longboxes into $0.50 bins...
