  1. I know that this a piece of art, but it still most definitely CSS22 related as you can see. This is the third piece that I have had commissioned. The first was by Bill Sienkiewcz, the second by our own Karl Janot, and now the third one by John K Snyder III. I approached John a little over a month ago and told him of my general theme, which interested him a great deal as he loved Craig's original as well. Long story short, John read my mind and created for me a perfect piece, in his own style, which pays homage to several of my favorite things. These things, in no particular order would be, CSS22, the film The Shining, Colorado (where I live) and The Stanley Hotel (located in Estes Park, CO) Steven King's inspiration for The Shining. John came up with the idea and did not want the man and female victim to be Jack and Wendy from the film, but to be another horrible story from the Overlook Hotel's past. He thought a look from the 30's would be appropriate, which is reflected in the man's tuxedo and the victim's dress and art deco earrings. The carpet pattern is the exact pattern from the film, and John liked and utilized my suggestion to make the ax look like the fireman's style Jack and Grady used to do their damage. John said that he had a blast doing it, and I think it is apparent by the finished piece. He presented it to me at the Denver Con this past Saturday. He has made me very happy as you can imagine. I feel that my meager photography cannot do it justice. Please let me know what you think.
  2. My new commission from John K Snyder III, picked up at the Denver Con yesterday. It is a continuation of the Crime SuspenStories 22 theme, but John tied it into one of my favorite films, The Shining. Photos do not do it justice.
  3. Thanks. Now I know who to offer it to if I ever decide to sell.
  4. Hi Jeff. It did. I jumped on it as soon as I saw it.
  5. My favorite Neal Adams horror cover, and an issue I have looked for in high grade for years.
  6. All of them are beautiful copies Jeff! You have been busy sir.
  7. I hope whoever just paid 1700 for a raw book on ebay, offered with lackluster at best photos, doesn't open a package in a week with contents that resemble hammered dog . They have bigger cajones than I do.
  8. Thanks Scott, though some of the best stuff comes from good friends! (thumbs u If I ever hit the lottery, I am going to make you an offer you can't refuse to get it back.
  9. We gave up! You win!!! Not so fast, my friend. This vaultkeeper fellow is bringin' some serious heat. Very entertaining, to be sure. Lots of amazing pedigreed copies I've never seen before. With apologies to anyone I may be forgetting, vaultkeeper, wrightson fan, sartre, mr illmannered, zzutak and adamstrange are now the unofficial axis of evil on the boards. Most of the rest of us just don't have enough evil, although I think Twisty is evilling up very nicely. However, as sartre recently pointed out, there are more big PCH collections out there, and another outstanding collector out of California has promised to post and if he does will soon be joining the axis. Sorry to be so crypt-ic. I can say no more without tempting fate, risking eternal damnation in the uttermost - well, you get the idea. I think I know this CA collector of which you speak. If it is the same guy, which I think it is, we have conversed on the phone a few times over the years. Yes, his collection may very well blow us all out of the water. Another collector of horror that should/must be mentioned is Jay (Jayman). The volume of his pre-code collection is very large....and is equally impressive. He has some awesome stuff.
  10. It is nice to have a goal....some however may be unobtainable.
  11. You didn't have to break the damned door down to get back in! Seriously, your new book is amazing, and beautiful. I am happy for you.
  12. We're all curled up in the fetal position after seeing your books. Affirmative.
  13. It was not. Jay. ...I remember you and I going back and forth over the Beware 8.0, each trying to get the other one to pick it up. I still remember the last time I went looking for it to find it sold on Metro's site. I think I ended up getting my Thing! 15 8.5 ow/w instead....which I would still rather own. The one that bugs me is the 7.5 WM 4 on CLINK about 4 years ago....1K for that book. ..and I passed as I thought it had gone too high. Concentrated on another one at that point.
  14. I am partial to Weird Tales of the Future....I like/love all 8 of them for one reason or another.
  15. I have liked that Beware Terror Tales cover ever since I saw it for the first time on the cover of Mike Benton's Horror comic history work. http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2100605.Horror_Comics
  16. Very nice MM 7. Still a book that I have been on the look out for years. I envy your copy....but in a good way.
  17. I think this is my favourite Ditko cover. Great copy! Richard, didnt you recently acquire a nice copy of this one as well? This is a close second for me in my list of favorite Ditko covers. The last time I checked, this was the highest graded copy.
  18. I think one can make the case for this as the strongest of all PCH titles, and within that the Ditko run from #12 to #15 as good as anything in the genre. #12 might arguably have a better cover, but this might be the strongest issue overall and I cant recall ever seeing a better copy. I think a 9.4 came up on CLink a few years ago....but I already had my 8.5, which I feel is a very strong 8.5. Decided to let a run at the 9.4 go.
  19. You have quite the awesome collection Scott!! Thanks brother! Long time, no chat. Hope you are well!
  20. Thank you Richard. Praise from the guy with the best collection I know of.
