  1. Wait...is this sketched in blue pencil, or is it PRINTED? Gotta be sketched in blue pencil... Now I gotta check mine.
  2. Lady Death #1. I had to physically restrain myself from buying YET ANOTHER Vengeance of Vampirella #1 yesterday for $3.25
  3. It may have sold for that, but it wasn't in 2007. Think the vendor was asking $45k for it at SDCC around 2005 so would be surprised it he accepted a "low ball" offer of $25k straight cash. Which is exactly why I said what I said. If it sold for $25k it was long before 2007. (thumbs u Sold in 2002(?) by the Hawaiian guys - can't remember their name. 600% in 9 years is a pretty damn good return! I'm not usually one of the conspiracy guys but this does seem damn fishy to me. I cant for the life of me understand how it jumped from 92k to the 150 asking price in 1 leap. If the guy bought it for 25k, there is no possible way he wouldnt have taken 125-140k, no way! Actually over 9 years, it's a 22% IRR... pretty good in anyone's language. But ya, knowing who was selling it, it's a fishy dela most likely. Josh would off load his own mother for a margin! Speaking of fishy, did you ever send Bill his book or a refund? You're not being sanctimonious, are you....?
  4. Do you have a complete newsstand set of the mini, Mayor? Tough, tough books to find in high grade.
  5. Back in 1995, when these first came out, I am abolutely positive they sold for $39.95. I was so annoyed that I didn't get one, and remained so for years, because they shot up to $10-$15 EACH shortly after release. Now, granted, the 14 books can be assembled for $40 or less these days, but I made it one of my life's missions to get a box for $40 or thereabouts. And in the early 2000's, I did. I now have about 6-7 of them, including the red, and I *think* I paid $50 as the highest price for any of them. All four sigs represented. I just sent in a holiday 13c (which really should have been 13d) to CGC. It's a pretty dead lock at 9.8. The hardest books I've found were #11 European, #1 Chromium, and 13c holiday. Tough, tough books to find. I have never seen a sketched blank. I'll have to check my boxes. Some of them are still sealed.
  6. Why would you say it doesn't exist? Do you mean it's not "official"...? Everything, including multiples of the mini, the #1 variants, and all the black signed boxes..... ....as well as the super secret RED box, which contains all 14 issues, all signed by Campbell AND Garner.
  7. Dark Tower was a copout. There. I said it. I'm currently reading, and almost finished with, Bram Stoker's "Dracula."
  8. Yeah, seriously, this isn't a sales thread guys.
  9. Very, very nice. Would look good next to my DD #158 9.8.
  10. I crack out 95% of all my slabbs and keep the labels, why turn them in? If I sell the books they go to the new owners. Census integrity, really. Not terribly important, but each little bit helps. Not a big deal, the coin censuses have been shot for 20 years. Well if its been graded and I still own the book in the same condition I'd say the integrity of the census is still there (just not in the slabb). If I threw out the labels [or smoked them as OG does ] then I can see your point. If I have to resale the book and don't have the label it will hurt my resale value dramatically (generally speaking). All, true, except...once a book has been unslabbed, it can't be undone, so even if the label remains with the book in perpetuity, the census assumes books that are still slabbed. But it's a minor point; like I said, resubs are part and parcel of the coin slabbing biz, and at this point, the census is much more of a suggestion than a hard and fast data point. The good thing is, the census always represents the maximum amount of slabs that exist, so the number is always at, or higher than, the actual extant slabs.
  11. Crack three slabs on the ceiling if you want me....

  13. Nice book. I was the underbidder on that copy The price makes me gasp. I RETURNED a copy in 2002-03 ish because it was advertised as "NM", when it was a solid F/VF. Price? $67. Honestly I can never figure out why this book is worth as much as it is? It's the rarest "early Turtles", and, perhaps most importantly, it's been broken out in the OPG since 1989. Once that happens, it's "must have."

  15. Very sharp Extremely rare one there Rare is right! Can you believe it is only worth 15 pionts in the registry set? RIGHT! They need to adjust the points on this one...and on Primer #6...BIG TIME!! [spirit sprinkles]
  16. I love subbing books. Got these back today. Combat's highest graded, 1 of 2.
  17. This one I'm good with, way outside shot at 9.6, but also legit strong 9.2.
  18. Again, could have gone either way. Super, amazing copy. I was *really* hoping for a 9.6, which would have made it highest grade, 1 of 1, but I'm cool with highest grade, 1 of 2.
  19. Was hoping for a 9.6, but the bottom right corner is just a lil' too scuffy. Could have gone either way. Still, a gorgeous book. Surfaces are nearly flawless. I don't really get access to these types of books, so I sprang.
  20. What kind of prices is this book going for nowadays? $50-$100 raw. $120 9.4, $200 9.6, $500 9.8 DISCLAIMER: These are estimations only, and are not to be taken as exact data.
  21. If it arrived in a longbox from Japan you might have a got a rise out of these comic collectors. I think I'm going to list it on eBay. After all, it COULD have come from Japan. I mean, I just shipped two Canadian Olympic $10 (1975-76) coins to Japan, so stranger things have happened. Speaking of which, I hope that guy is ok.... I'm gonna go shoot him a message...
  22. Stop being paranoid. No one on this board has an agenda, nor any ulterior motives. And if you're smart, you'll never forget it.
