  1. Oh yeah? I'll be by after lunch. Come on by, just don't be surprised if Chris Hansen walks out of the kitchen.... Which Hansen is that? The drummer or the bass player? The soda.
  2. Oh yeah? I'll be by after lunch. Come on by, just don't be surprised if Chris Hansen walks out of the kitchen.... Sweet. I always wanted to be on TV.
  3. First: Do you live in Burbank? I do, in fact, live in Burbank. No. There were no nuclear reactors anywhere nearby. It ran off. I left it alone, because spiders eat bugs.
  4. How about intimately inane....? DISCLAIMER; NO INSULT WAS INTENDED NOR IMPLIED IN THE PRECEDING POST. MY SINCEREST APOLOGIES IF ANYONE WAS HURT BY MY POST.
  5. It snowed in Burbank 2.5 weeks ago. That's Southern California, for anyone who doesn't know. Hasn't snowed in Burbank since 1948, apparently. The neighbors made snow children.... There was a giant spider on one of my long boxes last month. He/she was impressive, so I took a pic.
  6. Someone bought the Rawhide Kid #17 that was graded Fine. It was a GORGEOUS copy, but it had a small water stain near the logo. Otherwise, I would have hit it. It sold for $325.
  7. There was a "gold foil" Thor #1 variant (the 2007 version)...it was offered on eBay, but it was a counterfeit.
  8. I'm totally unfamiliar with this book, how does it look fake? Looks like all the other foil/holographic/platinum/ books that spawned in the time I exited the hobby. The main reason it is probably fake is because it isn't found in any of the literature about the book at the time it was published. After all, there were 14 different versions of this book printed at the time of publication; it seems to be overkill to have made a 15th, and then not mention anything about it. Plus, as Dupont noted, the foil doesnt line up perfectly. It's a very good job, but it's not quite perfect.
  9. I mentioned this several months ago, but can't find the thread because of the useless search function, so I thought I'd just make my own thread. I'm also putting this in Copper because the Modern folks don't care unless it came out in the last 6 months.... I've only seen two copies of this book, and I think I bought both. Fake? Like Thor #1? Batman #497? Someone fooling around with a foil stamper? Who knows? It is most undoubtedly fake, but maybe not. Share your thoughts.
  10. #113 or #112...I think #112...were the last two books I needed for my Bats #100-up collection.

  13. I'm glad you said that. 'Cause if it was a serious financial prize, I'd just grade everything I own and whup all your arses. Suck on that. (Oh, and until and unless someone gets another Primer #5 in 9.8, I own the set points anyways.)
  14. You mean like my copy Sean? Pfffft. 9.6 is weak.
  15. Well, you can never have too many copies of sweet copper books, anyway! (From one hoarder to another ) I'm not a hoarder... It's...uh...inventory....
  16. What if you already have all of them?
  17. Well, congrats, very, very nice book, but why are you obscuring the serial number? my big-time quest for this book (with Chris) ended when Michael acquired a NM one! At one time I was offering £500 for a copy If this is a new one, yours is copy no.7 (or no.6 if you discount the MSU one) It's a new one; mine since I bought it. I no longer have my canceled checks, but I do have -- I dug it out a week or two ago -- the register, showing I wrote a check to Eclipse Enterprises for $5.00 on 12/21/1985. My vision, at the time, was not very good -- nearsighted -- but also wildly unbalanced, as my left was MUCH more severe than my right. I could not resolve the 3D effect well (and even today, I'm not much good at resolving "magic camera" hidden pictures). Cat did ask for letters of explanation for those interested in buying the non-3D versions, and this is what I wrote her. Curiously, a few years later, I had radial keratotomy (the procedure cat mentions in the final line of her vision essay) on both eyes, immediately improving both greatly. I still have some astigmatism (RK does not address it), but my nearsightedness has been gone ever since. There are more advanced procedures now -- and my RK corneal scars (which are nowhere near as bad as they sound) make me a complex candidate for further surgeries -- but the RK was a blessing to me, and I can resolve 3D just fine. Fantastic! I have a boatload of the other 2-D versions, and am fascinated by the folks who bought them brand new. I didn't get into comics until 1989/1990, so they were long gone by then. I couldn't find a #15 until eBay came along. Where the other copies of the MM 2D are, no one really knows. They might have been destroyed in the 1986 flood, as the later books show the MM as being "SOLD OUT", but nobody really knows. I still try to check every one I come across.
