  1. Thank you for the fast replies . I am sending this book and a few others in very soon and I will reply with the results. I also have an X-men book that i would love you guys to take a look at. I will upload those photos now and start a new thread for it. Thanks for your time and expertise.
  2. First let me say that this is my favorite forum since joining and any and all expertise is welcome. I probably took too many photos but i would like to get a true grade on this book before i submit it and i will update everyone when it gets back from CGC. I used the flash and good angles so it would show all of the flaws. All of the pages are there , the spine and book are still attached with some page wear around the staples. The cover has wear but it still has good colors. One concern i have is the spine roll and the overlap it creates on the front cover. I would love to hear some opinions on having this book pressed to align the book. Thanks for your time and opinions.
  3. Will cgc be there accepting submissions and verifying signatures ?
  4. This makes me happy when i see someone have a run of books , or any collectible of this caliber under one roof. I don’t know if you are the original owner, if you inherited them , or found them at a yard sale for $5, I hope the best for you if you decide to sell them. Also take plenty of photographs like they are now and then after they are slabbed or auctioned . That way you will have a nice keepsake and good memories of your collection to look back on and pass those stories down to your family and friends.
  5. Do you have an update on the other books ? I would love to hear what the grade estimate for Hulk , Avnegers , Daredevil and Tales of suspense are.
  6. Can someone with a much better eye than me break down the Daredevil 2 ? That is a perfect example of what I was looking for. A book that has very minor flaws with just a very slight cover tear. Can someone break this book down as to what cgc wouldn’t have seen to give it a 7.5 ? Would it even be plausible that this book with the right grader on a good day could get a 8,5 ?
  7. Thanks for all of the replies. The chart is absolutely fantastic and very well broken down. I fully understand where your coming from on a tear on a 9.6 effecting the grade to a certain degree and the same tear not effecting a 4.0. The chart is what I was looking for . It gives a good barometer to help me assign true flaws to a grade.
  8. Thank you ! Out of curiosity , what is the highest you have seen a book grade with a 1” or less size tear on the cover ?
  9. If so , does anyone have an example or photo ? Expertise and knowledge is always welcome.
  10. You must know Tom Derby as well. Great asset to have if your adding key Star Wars items to your collection.
  11. I am new to the boards but i have picked up a few cool pieces through the years. This one took me some time to find but the wait was well worth it
  12. Hello all , I joined a few months ago after submitting my first books to cgc. I grew up in the late 70s and early 80s and like most kids in my area it was all about BMX , Music videos , Skating , Toys, Star Wars , and Hero’s. I always loved to hit my comic/music shop and grab some current issues of Hulk, Spider-Man , X-Men and a few cassette tapes. In 1991 I was at a baseball card show and happened across a guy selling some key silver age comics. He asked a dealer , who’s table I was standing at ,if he bought comics ? The dealer declined without looking but I asked to take a look. He only had about 30 books but they were some great key silver age comics. I purchased them and tucked them away until this year. So after 27 years I finally submitted my first books. I appreciate the knowledge and the foundation that everyone here has laid and thanks for lending a ear.
