  1. Yes, I did win the book. I am very happy with the book but you never know what or how a 3rd party grader views something. It looks like whatever that dot is , is an accident and not there to cover anything up but I just wanted a few opinions before I sent it in. If everyone here thought it might cause a concern I would have had CGC possibly remove it ,but I would prefer to leave it alone if it won’t effect the label. Thank you both for your response.
  2. This book has all of the normal flaws of an older book. There are no color touches or places that look like they have been altered in any way. However , there is a small spot of what looks like ink or something that has got on the cover at one point in time. It also bleed through the cover. Is this something that I need to ask CGC to possibly remove to keep a blue label or is will this be looked at as something that just got on the cover and they will grade it as such ? Thanks
  3. Mainly because the bottom of the book is a good bit wider than the top. It’s just always a red flag on trimmed books ,but in this case the pages look normal compared to the cover. I just want other collectors with a much better grasp of spotting trimmed comics to take a look and give their opinion. Thanks everyone again.
  4. I took plenty of photos. I took the spine of the book and lined it up to the edge of the backing board. It his the typical red flag where the outside edge of the book is wider at the bottom and starts to narrow towards the top. At first glance I thought it was trimmed but I got it out and inspected the edges with a handheld magnifying glass and it still has the factory cut defects that you see on a normal silver age book. The interior page defects also line up with the outside edge cover defects as well. The interior pages also have that same taper to them as the cover. They start wide at the bottom and get more narrow at the top. Is it possible that this book was just simply miscut ? I would like to send it in for grading ,but it would be a waste if it’s been trimmed. Thank you in advance for your time.
  5. I have a daredevil 1 that I sent in that had a clean front but some foxing on the back. I was thinking the book would be around. 7.5 with the foxing but it came back an 8.0 so they don’t count off that much when it’s a medium grade. I’m sure when you get in the 9.0 and up range it will be more.
  6. From what I can tell , I’m consistantly in the mid 40s in my humidity range. I’m going to monitor it closer as the summer starts to heat up but so far so good. My main concern was that jump in temperature from morning to night. I didn’t know if 8 to 10 degree temperature swings would start taking any effect over a long period.
  7. I have read , like everyone else , that big temperature change is as bad as cold or hot storage. My humidity meter indicates that my humidity is steady and around 45% which seems to be ok but in the last 24 hours my low temp in the room shows 67 degrees and the high temp shows 75 degrees. Is that too much tempeture swing for just 24 hours ?
  8. This is a honest and excellent seller. I purchased a FF52 not long ago and it was beautiful. Good luck with the sales !
  9. I would love to hear the story on how this is possible of what happened between the original scan and grading ?
  10. I know it’s useful for the population report to send a book back in its case so they can log that serial numbered book and document that it has been resubmitted . However, if you send a book in to get pressed then regraded , with them knowing the previous grade , would they possibly use that grade to hold back your new grade ? Do customers prefer sending in the books out of the case so there is a clean slate with no bias or previous opinion ? Thoughts and opinions are appreciated.
  11. Robert is absolutely first class. I purchased a Fantastic Four 52 from him. The book was shipped perfect and tracking was sent the day after i paid. This is exactly how you want to do business ! Thanks again
  12. Bob, I actually agree with you. To my eyes , this book looks unpressed and over graded. So I was thinking what’s the limit on this book if pressed ? Can it achieve more or has it already received a gift grade ? Can a book with these flaws pressed ever achieve an 8.5 or. 9.0. I’m just simply questioning the system itself for my own education so that if i see a book like this at a show, and i know it can achieve more with a press , i may drop the cash down to get it knowing there’s room for improvement. Just simply educating myself. Thanks for everyone’s expertise.
  13. This is not my book , I’m doing research on 8.0 to 9.0 silver age books. I’m trying to educate myself on the limits , both high and low, for these books. I have been looking at random 8.0 to 9.0 books online. When I saw this book , with black boarders , and showing these flaws, I thought this was a perfect candidate to present.
  14. I am educating myself on 8.0 to 9.0 grades in silver age books. Does this grade look right for a book with this many spine creases that break color ? If so , the next question is ..... could a book with those same spine flaws achieve a 9.0 ? Thank you everyone for your expertise.
  15. I don’t know if it’s agasint the law but it’s knowingly deceptive. I am amazed that a company of this magnitude and reputation would attempt that. Even if it’s laziness on whoever relisted it , and they just used the stock photo to get it back up for sale , someone needs to be called to the carpet on it.
  16. I recieved mine back a few weeks ago and they didn’t kill me on the marvel chipping. Yours has about the same amount as mine.
  17. I think it has a little more potential than a few of the guesses. I know there is more to grading than the cover but your example looks much better than mine. Mine is slightly faded , plenty of other flaws and I did not have it pressed and it got a 2.0. I will try and find a few photos of the book before it was slabbed
  18. I recently submitted a low grade Hulk 2 , it had sentimental value and I wanted it slabbed. It came back a 2.0 and yours looks better than mine.
  19. I completely missed this thread. Not the best examples on planet earth but they get me in the club !
  20. Who said comic book message boards are not a spectator sport ? I disagree , this thread is better than anything on Hulu ! Great books and purchase. Congrats to everyone.
  21. I had about 25 books graded. Some of mine have those hazy looking scuff areas as well. Dont dismiss newton rings though , that problem is alive and well. My daredevil 1 that I got back looks horrible. If i was an employee at cgc there is no way I would have ever sent a key issue back to a customer that looked like that. Do they not realize that a product that looks like that only looks bad on them ?
  22. I think there are many places in the world that non reading adults or casual moviegoer wouldn’t know who Dr.Doom , The thing , Daredevil , or many of the main stream Marvel characters are. However , I bet every single one of them , including the queen of England knows who Spider-man is. Spider-Man transcends comics in a way that no other Marvel character can. Iron man is my favorite but I do recognize who the king of the Marvel universe is. With that said , my vote goes to Amazing Fantasy 15 !
  23. I agree 100 percent. Not that money should be the driving factor for quality , but I did drop $2100 for my full order and fully expected to get notes and nice cases. No notes on this book and bad newton rings on my Avengers 4 , and Daredevil 1 is disappointing.
