Anyone willing to pay for note removal is up to no good.
I can only speak for myself. Again, not saying that this is right or good, but in my case I don’t think I’m up to no good as I only want it to present better in my collection, not intending to sell or deceive anyone.

But if the goal is to get regular collectors to resub and get the notes removed, why not move the notes to the back of the label? Like the PQ use to be?
Then you are being transparent and can get your money from people wanting to remove the notes?
I agree with you 100%. I wasn’t agreeing with CGC on this, just saying I think at least part of this is about resub money… another part may be the time/money cut down when entering the note on the Label.
It’s all about the money at this point… obviously not about collectors… TATs are more evidence of this.

Not sure if anyone else had said this already but I think that this may be to create yet another revenue stream…. I’m definitely not an industry anything… just a collector trying to finish a set and collect books I enjoy, I don’t sell.
Having said that, I sent the below book in back when Classics was still around… they missed restoration so I sent it back for free removal. It came back Universal but with this same note on the Label…
This is one of my favorite books and this note has always irritated me. I’ve been wanting to get it reholdered for awhile so it would present better.
I HATE TO SAY THIS BUT, for an average collector like myself I am now more likely to send this in for reholder if I can get this note moved to the Grader Notes vice on the Label.
CGC knows this… why allow collectors to have a product that is ‘one and done’ sitting in their collections when they can create points in the collectibles life where someone will want to send it back in and spend more money? This is no different than updating a holder or coming out with more gimmicky custom labels every few years.

Just a thought, maybe if CGC discovers a book has not cleaned and pressed by CCS but by someone else they deduct for non professional pressing and cleaning? CGC must see all the comments about people personally pressing their own books on this forum. Just spitballing. Are people pressing their own books a new thing or has this trend been going on for some time?
I’ve also always wondered if there was a CCS bump (which is why I use CCS BTW). I know CGC is not supposed to know whose books they are grading when they come in and where they came from etc, but seriously… there has got to be something common among CCS books when submitted to CGC that would give this away.

What date in June? It’s about 330 days.
It’s been awhile…

While I wait on these to be graded I have been reading through this thread and the QC thread to try to make myself feel better… it’s not working. Meanwhile, I had a thought… I wonder if the graders are harsh to account, in advance. for the damage that their coworkers will do to the book during slabbing/QC? (That’s only sort of a joke)
This submission was received by CCS June 2021…

Thank you, me too.
When I see stuff like this I wonder why we keep sending in books at all. So disappointing!
Yet I continue to care about CGC’s opinion of my books!

First of all if this book had happend any other time I might have deferred to CGCs opinion, shrugged and said maybe I missed it (although I seriously doubt it had staples that looked untouched, all tight and had similar cover debris / discoloration as well as the cut of the covers.)
Raw. Prior to clean / press / signing
So this book . I sent the first time for a press, clean, and signing. CCS did clean the outside cover , but best I can figure they (Like CGC ) didn't even open it the first time [they missed the double cover] and just pressed it.
1st time received back.
Instead what I believe happened is that CCS cleaned only the outside cover then humidity/ press which now has caused the internal cover to look worse and when CGC got this back on its second trip they jump to married as the explanation of a lower grade cover inside. plus the insert?!?!
Scans just now.
It will have to go back yet again for a review as I think some new grader got his mits on this and just didn't know what he was looking at and said married.
I really hope they fix this! That’s terrible!

Indeed it was ccs, but I should say that the reason it was a 9.0 to begin with: it came in a polybags and probably had a crease from when that was sealed, that was pressed out by ccs.
Ahhhh… thank you!! Congrats again!

ya I posted the video in Back from CGC, with the video of me opening, wondering, and stressing because of QC and the facsimile of this book.
I go into it just a tad. I sent it in before it exploded, unpressed, and it came back 9.0. If I had pressed the first time and it was 9.8, I would never have sent for signature series
So in the long run, I sent for SS for quick TAT and I like Bagley, although Bendis "might have been better" as a creator of Miles Morales
Wow! 9.0 to 9.8! Congrats! Was it a CCS press, or someone else?
Thanks!

Turns out that Superman #75 style logo was used for a handful of direct editions in early 1993. The ones I could quickly confirm were Showcase '93 #1-2, Team Titans #5, New Titans #94-95, and Deathstroke the Terminator #20. There may be some others, but so far as I can tell nothing past March, and all direct editions.

Thanks for checking, and for the additional info. I’ll have to track down some of the others. As a Death of Superman collector I think that logo is pretty cool.

Hello, just wondering what you guys know about this logo. I found these in a 20 pack (one each as I opened two packs) that is fairly common, but have not seen this ‘Superman 75 Platinum Logo’ on any other book.
If this is the only book this was ever on it seems like an odd choice. Both of these copies are currently sitting at CCS. Thanks!
The pack…

will be checking the dc universe logo thread see if it helps. but thank you a lot for your expertise. ima lean towards this was in a pack. now which pack is the question. wish there was a record for these type of things some where.
DM’ed you also but for everyone’s awareness, this just popped up on eBay. Different book but same logo and it says ‘original owner’. Maybe this guy remembers where he got it!

Yep, noticed that. You also referred to three different ones in the census. Was trying to show you one of those for reference in case you hadn’t seen any of the others that you mentioned.

Cannot find any info on this book. heres my research so far, however inside the book it says same date nov 1996
CGC Census - has three variants 1) regular not sure if thats only direct , 2) preview copy 3) trade
comicrealm, mycomicshop, key collector does not help they only show direct edition.
Does anyone know why does one has a logo in upd area? if so where did it come from.
Pretty sure this is the 1) that you mention if this helps.

Trying to force someone that comes in your restaurant and orders well done steak to eat a rare steak because thats how YOU like it should be a life sentence on alcatraz.
last time it happened to me I sent it back 4 times.
NO PINK IN MIDDLE I SAID YOU NUMBSKULLS!
"That ruining a steak!"
"FINE LET ME RUIN IT I AM PAYING FOR IT YOU NITWIT!".
children tend to hate rare meat. why? because children have twice as many taste buds and their taste buds are more sensitive.
Listen to the experts-raw meat is disgusting.
I’ve been working on my Prime Rib recipe for about 10 years… pretty much nail it every time now.., just look at those PERFECT edges… yummy!
That cow sacrificed it’s life for a worthy cause indeed!More recently started using cast iron instead of a grill for steaks… I sear it on the stove and then into the oven to finish… makes your mouth water…
