The problem with attributing more points to newsstands, is that not all newsstands are accounted for.

Hypothetically, a bunch of people will drop rank and/or not want to resubmit their whole collection.

Or (if you are not a newsstand collector, and don’t intend to be) not care about the competitive Registry at all anymore…

Some people have put way too much work into sets to suddenly have slots added for books that are no different indicia-wise from their direct counterparts… or to see newsstands arbitrarily awarded extra points when the Census of GRADED copies will NEVER be accurate enough to reflect actual relative scarcity…

Keep newsstand in the Pedigree field and leave it at that…

A bit worried about OWK @onlyweaknesskryptonite

I hope and pray he is doing okay. From our recent conversations Monday, sounds like he is having a bit of a time...

    :hi:

Hang in there buddy, we're thinking about you.

Definitely!  Many well wishes for @onlyweaknesskryptonite!!

    Hello,

Happy Holidays! If a comic artist doesn't sign a book that isn't his and it still gets a yellow label, does that make it rare? What if the yellow label has “Signed by”, but the book has no signature? The artist emailed and refused to signed the books because he stated it wasn’t his work. The comic was supposed to be graded as Universal Label. How did it pass Authentication if it wasn’t signed and receive this label?

    Thank you!

One of two things happened here:

    1) Invisible Ink

    2) QC issue

    Guessing 2…

    Nice looking book though!!

  4. This isn't mine but I don't think data entry mistakes can get much worse/careless than this... if you look up the cert the information for the book is correct, 'DC Comics' which means only the label is incorrect.  Not sure if that makes it better or worse.  I also think all of these should have been 'Superman #75 Special Edition' instead of how CGC chose to name them but that's just my opinion.

I am still looking into preventing this from happening again.

@CGC Mike I am in the middle of an issue like this as well except with the Jurgens signing (I have sent you a message with details).  Book not identified as THIRD PRINTING.  Sent email as soon as it was logged in incorrectly... called customer service next morning... Kim sends message to Graders but also said that the 'Graders are real smart, smarter than the receiving guys anyways, and will catch it'... not fixed... went to QC today and still not fixed... called customer service again.

Here's the good part!  Becky starts trying to tell me about this particular book, that if I checked eBay that none of them are identified as third printing... that's because THERE ARE NO THIRD PRINTINGS ON EBAY!  I finally lose my cool, hang up.  Call back after I chill a bit and speak with Rachel who actually seemed like she wanted to help... she put a hold on the book which was now in shipping so they could check it.  Will see how this turns out.  Wish someone cared last week!  Now, even if it is fixed how much of an additional delay do I get to enjoy?

All the way through I kept reiterating that I'm 1) trying to save the company money due to ME, and 2) save myself the trouble of a ME, which wastes my time.

BTW - In addition to the indicia this book has a big Roman Numeral III on the cover and a DC Universe Logo!  SUPER easy to identify as THIRD PRINTING!  Not to mention it was cracked and Graded once already.  Meanwhile CGC claims to have identified all books from multi-packs, etc!

I'm definitely not getting that.  I just edited a book and saved it just to test it and everything worked fine.  I've looked at several sets as well and all is normal on this end.  Sorry I can't help!

I forgot to add a lol to my Google comment.  Was just messing with you :baiting:

    Hopefully they get this fixed!

Hmmm… I updated some pics last night and it worked fine. Haven’t tried adding any new books though.

Probably all the 50 variants of each book these days bogging it down!

Indeed. Add to that that the OP stated that CGC "even made my page tear look better when they re-slabbed it by placing the white part behind the other portion".

    If that is true:

    • CGC missed the tear the first time and graded the book a 9.6
    • They then sent it out with a large, visible piece of plastic in the case
    • On return, they removed the plastic, reset the tear to look better, and then sent it out again, still as a 9.6.

I of course understand why Mike would want to protect the QA Manager from the possibility of having a difficult time here, were he to come forward with an update on his progress. But that is the guy's job, it's what he's paid for. I would've thought he would welcome the chance to communicate with us, if not directly about this case then in general to tell us what steps he had taken to improve matters since his appointment six months ago. Most of us here are adults, will cut CGC a lot of slack and show understanding of the position they are in operationally as they struggle with volumes. But avoiding responsibility and high handed communication doesn't help matters.

Geez.  I'm not a huge submitter by any means but I do submit a fair number of books… I love show off my books and sing CGC’s praises wherever/whenever I can!

I’ve easily got around 20 Modern books from my own submissions that received 9.6’s that (in my mind) were easy 9.8’s… I decide to not make a stink because hey, who am I to dare question the CGC graders??

Then I see THIS 9.6 with THAT tear and man it makes me furious!!  This is just so UNSAT and a huge slap in the face to EVERYONE that submits books!  It’s not even subjective… that book should NEVER have received a 9.6 and to think it basically was given the grade twice AND CGC helped hide the evidence by tucking the tear so it wouldn’t show as bad… WOW!!!!
