  1. I always enjoyed Ralph's name on the masthead as the Gardening reporter for RS! I have many of those Campaign Trail issues in my own collection and a copy of the book signed by HST, but the 2 issue debut/premiere of FALI Las Vegas are my favorite issues of Rolling Stone, bar none! Nice pick-up! In SF, eh? Hope you're enjoying our brisk weather!
  2. Looks like the guts of the trade paperback that Russ Cochran produced of the first 6 issues of MAD, untrimmed or a test.
  3. I have one of those pink paper editions, but it could be #2 as I don't have it at hand currently, and I bought it when I was 11 or 12 at a head shop in Columbus, Ohio. Was not numbered or limited in any kind of obvious way.
  4. Makes me think of Mystery Date! Will He be a Dreamboat.....or a Dud?
  5. Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One (2023) d. McQuarrie
  6. Too true! I have all 9 of them as well! More National Lampoon than Screw, to my eyes! This is my favorite cover from the tabloid run, a Tom Sutton Delight, and an issue that should be in any EC collector's collection. I daresay it includes W M Gaines last interview!!!
  7. I got my copy directly from Bruce, but it was many years ago now. Don't know if he still has any.
  8. While it's not an index of Kiss, this book is an excellent look at it and it's ilk, written by the legendary Bill Blackbeard under a clever pseudonym, thus lots on the comix to be found within. Highly recommended if you don't have a copy! (One of my copies is actually an amazing association specimen that was inscribed by BB to Gary Arlington, one of my favorite books!)
  9. I really only like the covers, but Raeburn's mag put me on the scent, as well, and I scoped out some issues in The Mission at a newsstand that sold predominately Mexican publications. However, it did lead to a fellow in Twenty-Nine Palms who collects the Italian kind and I find the covers on those specimens much more to my perverse likings, and while I don't have any of the actual funnyboox, I do have his fine collection of covers, none of which can be displayed here, due to the house rules, and I've had my run in with the house over the years due to content. Actually surprised you haven't gotten the proverbial knock on the door for the op! Anyways, since violence seems to be acceptable where nudity is not, perhaps the cover can pass muster, for the nonce...I mean if CrimeSuspenstories #22 is ok....well...
  10. I went to the first Non-Signet first printing, #30 The Dirty Old Mad (Paperback Library), but I do like the mozaic you laid down there! Lovely!
  11. Looks like Vanessa! I have some Mafia and Crime exploitation mags, but as far as gore goes......to me it's just another thing to exploit, so it becomes part of the collection!!! It's all fair game to me if it ain't Redbook, Family Circle or Time and Newsweek......but even those mags could probably be construed as exploitative in some way or another. I think I have a sister mag to Mobs and Gangs, a few issues of Crime Does Not Pay, and not the old Lev Gleason/ Bob Wood funnybook!!!
  12. I have some other magazines in one of my random boxes that make Violent World almost seem quaint! Ever seen Al Goldstein's Death magazine (actually a tabloid that lasted 4 issues! I have one, and a photocopied compilation of the run that I snagged around 25 years ago that made me aware of it's existence.....has remained mostly elusive.....and then there is True Sex Crimes which was at least two issues, as I have one and have seen pictures of another that I don't have, and on and on....) Violent World is assumed to have been a Myron Fass Production, as....how could it not be...though the indicia has it credited to some other company, that is probably one of his shells! I was actually tipped off to VW from a small article in an issue of Hustler I snagged from one of my parent's pals when I was a horny teen.....even in 1977 VW was pretty hard to find if you had no access to an 'urban' newsstand!!!! I could show you sick....but then I'd risk never hearing from you again...... That would make me sadz!
  13. Finally able to complete a 2nd run of this rare delight...... ......due to having my first run bound, and realizing that I may have been too hasty...... .....as it was one of my first projects that I had been thinking about from way back! Best of both worlds and now I can rest comfortably!!!
  14. I think I have half the run of GBW, maybe 5 issues, but I obtained them around 25 years ago and have them stored unfolded, in mylar, sideways in magazine sized boxes and they appear to have aged little, at this point. I have copies of Rolling Stone that look more deteriorated.
  15. And now a word, or the like, from Captain Company!
  16. I have the signed/limited hardcover, but am not really enamored of the text, but I do love the illustrations throughout!
  17. Finally able to check another KEY off my list, and when I least expected to! A pickup this afternoon at the San Francisco Art Book Fair! So happy those dealers are concentrating on other things........
  18. Actually they're dated 2019 and I only have dupes of the harder to find Fat Freddy's Cat card, which required attendance to the panel to obtain, while packs of the other three were given out as part of a swag bag. Would prefer trade for a dupe, not money so if you have something to suggest, I'm open to it!
  19. Was not aware there were promo cards other than these that have been issued!
  20. #35 is probably my favorite MAD Magazine cover, but I'm wondering, since I stopped buying issues in the mid-70's, were there any other wraparound covers? I can't recall ever seeing another.
  21. My stopping point for that run was the last comic book size issue, #10. I have a few of the magazines that I picked up out of bargain boxes, etc. but I never really warmed to that run like I did, say, Arcade, RAW or Weirdo. I'd still pick up the ones I don't have should I come across them at a nice price, but I'm not in pursuit! Glad you were able to assuage your desire forthwith! Looks like a nice run of funnies!
  22. Never saw that version of a magazine titled Freaky. This, however, seems to have come out pretty regularly at the comics stores I frequent, over the last few years. I buy a copy every now and then after a flip through.....
  23. What about copies of Air Pirates #2? Did the copies sport what appears to be rusty staples as pictured on the Three Fisted Tales? Glad I sold my dupe AP#1. Don't have to rush to replace it now! Scored this today at my LCS using some trade credit. Was amazed to find very few copies on line and the ones that are there are asking some big bux!!! Nice to have a back-up for trade or cash in the near term!!!
