  1. Very nice. I think I have a couple of those probably going out......
  2. I had a few copies that I ended up giving to my brother as he's more of a Dead fan than I. Wish they had done a similar series featuring the songs of Frank Zappa and The Mothers!
  3. Always happy to entertain offers! Saves me the energy of cataloging! I am by nature the kind of fellow who hates to sit still and type.
  4. And then...... If I showed you the Felch, I'd have to kill myself, I suppose.....or the mods would do it for me?
  5. Spent yesterday going through some boxes and piles culling my dupes for some yet to be decided purpose, hoping to gain some new space for new acquisitions! Took some pix today of the stuff to share here while I decide the fate of the featured items.....thus we begin a series of posts illuminating my wretched photography skills with my antiquated tablet device......seems like such a waste not to, eh?
  6. Nice pick-ups! I keep meaning to pay Kayo a visit, but I still think of them as "sort of closed", as I attended their "sort of closing" sale, on a weekly basis, as the discounts got better with each passing week, back when that occurred. Need to give them a call! I've been through those Amoeba boxes a few times now, so I'm pretty sure I've had my way with them to a point where nothing is going to jump out at me.. However, I did find these two uncommon items in their book/magazine bin section last week when I was rooting around, for a nice $4.99 each! Don't see either much these days, and issue 4 still has the Mike Diana drawn game attached at the centerspread, so double the fun, I guess!!!!
  7. I haven't been in that place for years. Used to be it was an excellent place to buy t-shirts as they had a stock of them going back years, but I think it changed owners and did indeed become a sort of touristy kind of store. Guess I should give it a look next time I'm over there. Hope you found some delights at Amoeba!
  8. Did you get that at Amoeba? At the back of the buy counter, for the last couple of months, they have two short boxes packed to the brim with UG. Was even able to find a couple I was looking for....if that wasn't where you got it, and Haight is one of my regular haunts, then do tell, as I don't recall seeing UG anywhere else over there!!! Booksmith sometimes carries Last Gasp backstock, but I don't know if they do so much anymore these days.
  9. I see what you're doing, but that issue had so many legends...George Evans doing the Japanese propaganda GI Joe strip was inspired!!!
  10. I feel it was more a parody of books like Comix by Les Daniels, as there weren't a lot of comic book history tomes back then. The EC section also contains work by Wrightson parodying Ingels!!! My favorite Russ Heath comics are actually from the NL Encyclopedia Of Humor, Cowgirls At War and Swamp Sluts! Peak Heath!!!!!
  11. This afternoon I attended a rock poster show in San Francisco at Golden Gate Park. Saw lots of UG related works of art and there was one dealer who had a few comix on their table. I quickly sized up that the copy of Zap #0 he was selling was a first! Hair in 'z' on FC, yellow bit on RC and numbered pages. The book looked to be about VG/F, so I asked what the price was. After being told it was $20, I quickly paid the fellow and did a happy dance in my head! A bit later I got it home and noticed something I had missed while thumbing through the copy, there were 28 pages when there should have only been 24, including the cover! I then noticed that one page had been inserted twice, as seen in my fair to middlin' photos. So my question is do the members here consider this a defect or some sort of bonus? I know double covers are a good thing, but what about double pages? It's something I hadn't considered previously and I'm curious as to what opinions you folks may have. Myself, I think it's a good thing as I have seen mags that have a double page but is also incomplete because the second page replaced the one that should have been there in the binding process...this is not the case here! All the pages are present that should be there, there's just a 'bonus', if you will. Thoughts?
  12. We also covered the point to look for to determine a first printing if the book has already been slabbed, a few pages back. It's quite easy to spot if you know what to look for, as CGC has proven that they don't always know what THEY are looking for when it comes to stating a first on Snatch #1. The comic book in question had been sold in a Heritage auction recently, and to my eye it was not a first as described in the catalog!!! Caveat Emptor on this one, folks!
  13. I have one of each of the CI variants, and actually owned them before I realized it was a thing and not a mistake! Guess it pays to actually READ the table of contents from time to time.......in that issue theoretically every copy could be a variant, eh? Kinda sucked, though, that Child had already been reprinted in issue #1, so there is that!
  14. The last Crumb solo funnybook I needed in first printing has finally been added to my collection as of yesterday! I'm rejoicing with a viewing of the outtakes from the Crumb documentary! And now for something else........
