  1. I would’ve been fine with an honest transaction and a finders fee, but a 100% markup for a book you don’t even have a legitimate claim to? That just seems scummy to me.
  2. Hello, everyone. I was wondering if this situation is PL-worthy. Here’s the gist: A boardie (let’s call him Seller A) contacted me to offer me a book I was seeking. He sent a photo and said he was asking $2,000. I requested more photos, and he said the book was in a safe deposit box, and that he’d get the photos to me ASAP. Long story short, he never owned the book. The exact book was for sale on someone else’s website (a person I’ve done a lot of business with, let’s call him Seller B) for $999. The photos show it is the exact same copy. Anyway, I purchased the book from it’s true owner, and I’m happy to add it to my pc. Afterwards, I reached out to Seller A to see what story he’d come up with for failing to send the promised photos, and he apologized and he said he decided to keep the book 😂 Anyway, I noticed Seller A lists books on here from time to time, and I noticed he’s put “removed from sale” on a few of his books. I suspect these are books he never owned in the first place. How does the community view this sort of practice? I’m curious to hear some opinions. Thanks for taking the time to read this post.
  3. I’m selling this lot of 8 magazines dating from the 1920s - 1940s. Most feature amazing cheesecake covers by artist Enoch Bolles. These magazines are loaded with black and white photos of real life bikini gals, glamour poses, etc., as well as many quirky advertisements, etc. The February 1933 issue featured a full-page ad for King Kong one month prior to the film’s debut in NYC. Another features an ad for Tarzan. The issue of Real Screen Fun features a photo shoot on famous burlesque “bubble girl” Sally Rand. I would say the average grade is a solid VG, but please review all photos and feel welcome to ask any questions, make any suggestions... Selling as one lot only. $550/best offer. Let's try $450 $400 shipped/insured to CONUS.
  4. I rarely ever sell anything at all, but I need to make some room for more additions... such is life. This is my first attempt of selling on the boards, although I’ve purchased items from various members here. Here’s the fine print: No PL/Hall of Shamers. The first “Take” wins. Please review photos carefully and ask any questions beforehand. I accept check or money order. I’ll accept PayPal as well. Shipping will be FREE, full insured Priority mail for the lot (CONUS only). Unless a different method is worked out beforehand, magazines will be gently sandwiched between cardboard slabs, wrapped in bubble wrap, and sent in a CLink box, although I’m open to suggestions. Returns are fine within 7 days of receipt, but Buyer must cover return costs, and items must be returned in their original condition.
  5. I’d much prefer to work with the seller whose prices are a bit on the high end, rather than the sellers (on certain venues) who never post asking prices at all.
  6. Does anyone use American Collectors Insurance (through USAA)? i have a relative who is a veteran and uses USAA. They offer an add-on policy through ACI. just curious if anyone has had an experience with them...
  7. Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I’ll update if I get it slabbed.
  8. Thanks everyone. I’ll let you know the result if I send it in to be slabbed.
  9. Great! Thank you both. I’ll definitely hit one of them... if I’m lucky, both!
  10. It looks pretty solid, with some visible wear. No hidden issues as far as I can see.
  11. It looks pretty solid, and the colors are great, although there’s what looks like a factory tear on the corners of a few interior pages. The back is cream colored, fairly consistent throughout.
  12. A lot of people aren’t aware of the difference, I think. A few months back I contacted CLink about an auction listing that CGC incorrectly identified as Star Publications on the label, although the book was clearly the Accepted version.
  13. I mostly collect GA, while my friend collects mostly SA. I don't really care about celebrities and all that nonsense. I'm just looking for comics to browse. Has anyone been to these three shows? If so, please share your opinion on your experiences. Thanks!
  14. I know this is sacrilege, but I could think of a half dozen or so Cole books I like better than Mask 1... that is, until I saw this copy.
  15. I see some nice Coles in there and a great looking copy of Amazing Ghost 14!
  16. Well, it’s been over two weeks, and Mr. Fishler obviously has no interest in responding. He reached out to me once, I replied twice with my contact info and let him know my availability, and his lack of response is disappointing to say the least. It’s unlikely I’ll do business with them again. And after hearing similar complaints here and on IG, their disregard for customer satisfaction is well-known among collectors.
