  1. I like to go by my own opinion....and I like to think ahead. Rather than just going by past history. I'm perfectly fine knowing I have a 1st appearance. This era of slabbed comics doesn't change that. On the other hand....I go by what my eyes see over what others tell me. For instance, if my eyes see Superman in More Fun #31, or if my eyes see Captain America in Human Torch #3(#2)....I don't let someone tell me that it doesn't count.
  2. I was responding comments that I think make NO sense.....saying that a 1st appearance is less desirable without a cover appearance. That's like saying we should hang our most valuable comics on the walls of our livingrooms instead of keeping them in safety-deposit boxes. A less hyped 1st appearance in the back pages does indeed avoid the 'problem' of ad & cameo appearances that pre-date the 'official' 1st appearance.
  3. I messed up my post again. This isn't my day LOL.
  4. I was just deleting my comment as you quoted it LOL....I accidently used the Heritage fee instead of Comiclink.
  5. I see 3 different All Star #8's in CGC 4.0 that sold on Heritage in 2020: Slightly brittle pages for $36,000 in April. Cream/off-white pages for $31,200 in July. Off-white pages for $34,800 in November.
  6. To be clear....I really would like to know who has a 9.4 copy of Human Torch #3(#2). There are 2 on the census. And if there are any better copies that exist. I don't own one.
  7. WOW !!!!! Just kidding, move along, nothing to see here. Strictly out of curiosity....anyone know where the Church or best copy is?
  8. I'd take 1 Batman #1 comic over 100 Pat Mahomes cards. In the mid-80's, I bought rookie cards in stacks-of-50.
  9. What if Captain America's 1st appearance was in the back pages of Marvel Comics #9 or #14 or something. With only 20 unrestored copies on the census, because the cover was boring and nobody saved it. You wouldn't be interested?
  10. Not well. The $2M and $3M copies of Action #1 should have been over $10M....judging by what sports and Pokémon cards are going for.
  11. Not appearing on the cover is BETTER, not worse. It's more rare and more interesting to find hidden gems in the back pages that went on to be successful. Instead of hyped up from the start. Action #1 runs into the problem of having Superman's first printed image being in More Fun #31.
  12. I meant "8-figures", not 7-figures. If Brady, Pokémon, etc. are $500K, then the top-conditon of many Golden Age keys should 8-figures. I just edited my post. But if Mahones is pushing 7-figures....then the top GA keys should be pushing 9-figures. $100M.
  13. With the crazy skyrocketing prices I see in the 'Mega keys have a lot of room for growth' thread....$500K+ for many not-old and not-rare things....who knows what an Action #1 cover-fragment could be worth in the near future.
  14. Unbelievable. There must be hundreds of them out there. I had a couple of them back in the day....they came back graded 8 & 9 though. Once again I say....if things like this are worth $500K+, then many top-graded GA's keys should be worth 8-figures.
  15. I'll be the new Green Arrow hitting the streets for real before this bullst*t hits $1000. I better start learning karate... ↓↓↓ Don't kick yourself for not having that sold for 6-figures. There are still some GA comics that the hobby hasn't discovered yet...
  16. Obviously Superman and Batman are the top 2. Batman is top-dog now. But I give the slight edge to the first printed image of Superman.
  17. HBO Max subscriptions have been going up by 4M per quarter, Wonder Woman or no Wonder Woman. Made no difference. WW would have been a dud even without the pandemic.
  18. 1. More Fun Comics #31 2. Detective Comics #27 3. More Fun Comics #73 4. All-American Comics #16 5. Flash Comics #1 6. Batman #1 7. Action Comics #1 8. Captain America Comics #1 9. All-Star Comics #8 10. Thrill Comics #1 ashcan 11. Flash Comics #1 ashcan 12. Motion Picture Funnies Weekly #1 13. Marvel Comics #1 14. Detective Comics #38 15. Mystery Men Comics #1 16. Police Comics #1 17. New York World's Fair 1939 18. All-American Comics #19 19. Superman #1 20. Whiz Comics #2 (#1)
  19. If Pokémon and Tom Brady cards are $500K....then the Church or top copies of Golden Age keys should be worth $10M+.
  20. Joker vs Green Lantern....you can't go wrong with either. We know the AA-16 Church copy is the single best in existence. Whereas this Batman 1 has been moved up in grade, and there also might be other copies out there somewhere. I'd say the for-sure single best copy of either could get $3M, $4M...
  21. CBCS's business model is to offer higher grades than CGC. CGC likes money too. As evidenced when they started offering secret pressing & cleaning services in order to get re-submissions.
  22. Everyone knows about sports cards now. Everyone knows that rookie cards in the best condition are worth the most. Therefore newly produced cards are no longer collectible. They will never be worth much. Some people don't want to face this fact....so they manufacture fake collectibles, 1-of-1 cards with gold borders, 3D, and pieces of jerseys stuck to it. Not interesting to me at all.
  23. Agreed. This is a fake collectible. Saying the card you're making right now is instantly worth a fortune is the stupidest thing I've ever heard of.
