  1. Cool book, love this cover. Um, never graded a book myself but I hope you get a 8.0!
  2. Yes even as they downplay the risks and can't articulate how it would be fairly implemented (hint, it can't be done).
  3. instead of responding to the content of the post you just make a personal attack, I now know not to take you seriously.
  4. You stop being ridiculous (see what I did there?) Again, who decides who removes "that nonsense"?
  5. Can I point out the irony that the same people trying to de-platform and silence people are the ones push information as facts that have turned out to be completely false later.
  6. And when the people taking the conversation down are wrong, biased or bought? It's great until the censors come for you (and then it's too late). "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it" - Evelyn Beatrice Hall
  7. First, where did you pull the millions of lives number come from? I would argue that suppressing info is much more dangerous. Second, who do you propose (and trust) gets the right to silence opinions? "Fact checkers", that's a joke. An AI program? Humans right the code, and we can see how social media has widened the divide between people not made us come together, mainly due to the way the ad model incentivizes ratcheting up the rhetoric on both sides. You want to give the government the right to censor and delete? Possibly the worst idea of them all, as history will prove. If you want to "remove that nonsense" please explain how.
  8. Sorry, I'm always going to side with free speech regardless of platform (Facebook, Comic book message board, the local bar you drink at). The cure for bad ideas are good ideas discussed openly and honestly, not acting like a dictator and wanting someone shut down / silenced / de-platformed. 9. Totally agree that there are a bunch of crazy/nutcases in all walks of society. I think we should push back with facts and expose people but in my opinion de-platforming people is never the answer. First they will say that their crazy idea is some how real and dark forces are aligned against them and people will believe them since they have been driven underground. Best way to expose bad ideas are to shine a light on them and discuss, are we really scared that flat earth folks will somehow prevail when they debate on the facts? Second, the problem is that there is no way to operationalize and give someone the ability to shut down others. It's too important to free speech, I don't trust anyone with that much power. Even with the best intentions eventually every bad actor wouldn't want the power to silence the other side regardless of who, one political party, another government, the military, the media. Because they would all want that power and we should never trust it to someone. People would be afraid to talk about important things for fear of being silenced, it would be a huge mistake.
  10. Late to this thread but wow, crazy story, it is worth your time to watch these videos if you have any interest in comics (we are all reading and posting on a dedicated comics website so that would be everyone).
  11. Super sad news, in my opinion he is one of the best.
  12. Other books I just finished The Sand Pebbles by Richard McKenna The Client by John Grisham & Gun Machine by Warren Ellis (and a few otheres)
  13. Just finished a few books and Lord of the Flies was one of them.
  14. Inmate #1 - What are you in for? Murder, arson, rape? Inmate #2 - No, I didn't pay taxes on the sale of some comic books. Inmate #1 - So when the IRS caught you (you must be the most unlucky insufficiently_thoughtful_person in existence) why didn't you just pay you taxes and the fine instead of ending up here in prison? Inmate #2 - Wait, what???
  15. Well, driving too fast, not crossing the street at the sidewalk, spitting in public, the list goes on. There are so many federal, state, and local laws that it's A) impossible for anyone to understand them as they are written in legalize and B) remember them all. I would guess that just about everyone breaks laws on a daily basis.
  16. I always enjoyed Aparo's clean designs. I certainly think their are much worse covers out there.
  17. It's funny, the price collectors are willing to pay for an individual issue that used to retail for $0.10 and then the cost to have it graded and put in it's individual slab/case makes the cost of these spinner racks seem reasonable to me. But hey, to each his own.
  18. I feel quite the opposite, if than many people came out with credible stories that he actually did this, even if he didn't break age of consent law people should know. Would you let your young daughter or sister hang out with this scumbag????
  19. I think everyone should know about creeps like this. Don't help him hide from the comic community, focus some light on him to bring out other people who he may have preyed upon. Unless of course you cheer for the bad guys in all the funny books you read.
  20. What a bunch of scumbags, hope they get the book (not a comic) thrown at them.
