  1. Yeah, Back in the late 80's I won a copy of this at a small Chicago comic convention as a door prize. Was disappointed, but it was free. Wound up trading it to a local shop for $30 worth of Silver Age Avengers, which made me very happy. Now it is back down to $3.
  2. I didn't know I wanted this until I saw it. It arrived intact despite USPS crushing the box in several places. The irony is it had two "Do Not Crush " stickers on the box, and crushes on both stickers.
  3. Return Authorization. It is a prepaid mailing label. That way they pay for the return and not me.
  4. I haven't had anything happen to me like that yet as a consignor. I do know that they photograph everything and with the size and accuracy of the photos it would be difficult to switch books. I did buy a book that they missed had been glued. They quickly refunded my money and sent me an RA for return. It was on consignment so I'm not sure what happened as far as dealing with the seller. I did see it relisted later, with the glue defect clearly mentioned in the non consignment area. Maybe they paid the seller and took a slight hit. On ebay I had a buyer come back at me several months after they had left me positive feedback for the book. They claimed they never got it, which obviously was a lie. It was only $5 so I refunded and blocked them. I think Paypal has a six month window where the buyer can attempt to get a refund. Back in 2008 when ebay would only take Paypal payments, I bailed out of selling. The potential for fraud was too great. MCS has been a lot better for me.
  5. I've been using MCS for years and since they do all of the gruntwork it is so much easier for me. I don't have to worry about scams that happen quite often on ebay.
  6. Probably my favorite Joker cover closely followed by Detective 332.
  7. Pictured are 2 Batman 148 issues. The first one is a fair copy, the only real problem (save for the paper loss) is a house ad cut out that doesn't affect the story, but it does remove half a page. The second is a good copy I picked up to replace the fair copy, (fully intending to flip the fair copy) that arrived today. The page quality is almost the same though the fair copy may be 0.5 better on the OWL scale. I may wind up just keeping both of them.
  8. Probably a NG? Personally, I wouldn't spend $7 for it or the cash to have it slabbed.
  9. According to Overstreet the tape brings it down to a 3.0. CGC might "qualify" it and go a bit higher.
  10. As the others have said, nice book but that water damage/warping knocks it down into the 2.0-2.5 range.
  11. Really happy with this one. Thought about getting a "raw" copy, but the cover is too easy to touch up.
  12. Couldn't pass these up. The Avengers was graded at 2.0 and Doc Strange was a 3.0. Think the Avengers looks a little better than graded.
  13. How was the pizza? Ballpark...7.5 to 8.0? I'm a tad tough on grading.
  14. I'd go with a 3.5, depending on how the pages look.
  15. Keeping the IM 4 but flipping the Showcase. It just didn't do much for me once it was in hand.
  16. 27 years ago I became seriously ill and was medically retired (for lack of a better word). I also had to sell off a ton of my collection to make ends meet. It hurt to do so, but when you have no choice, what else can you do? I had to sell Brave & Bold 28-30 (fair to good), Justice League Of America 1-11 (#1 good, the rest fine to very fine) and many others. So when I saw this for sale last week I did a lot of research on past sales of this issue. Wound up seeing a lot of issues worse than this going for much higher prices than what was being asked. Gambled on it and am pretty pleased with it. Not sure how long I'm going to hold on to it, but for now it is a keeper. I'm thinking 3.0.
  17. I've been buying/trading/selling comics for 30 years and still can't get a real handle on how CGC determines their grades. Personally, without the back cover damage I would have gone in the 3.5 to 4 range even with the tape pull. With the back cover I would say 2.5 to 3.5. This is a nice book.
  18. I'm thinking 4.0 to 4.5. The tear drops it down just a bit.
