  1. No, that is the way they were when I bought them. I'm pretty sure I should be able to flip them at a grade of 6.0. They are really high gloss and if it weren't for the damaged corners.....
  2. The FM 42 is a low grader. High grade is too rich for my pocketbook.
  3. Probably going to flip these, but I just couldn't pass them up. They had a 4 issue run and then vanished. The girl on issue #1 looks to be menaced by a critter from The Black Scorpion(1957). Kinda strange for a mag on British films.
  4. Not as sorry as the rest of us are about it. Lame excuse.
  5. Had my first somewhat disappointing auction experience with MCS recently, but it wasn't their fault. Listed an ASM 27vg and it sold for $81. Then, nothing happened for three weeks. This was unusual because they state in their terms for bidding that you have 7 days to pay. Got an email from MCS apologizing that the bidder wouldn't pay and was banned from bidding there. So once again I had the choice of listing it at auction or consignment. Put it back up for auction and hoping it does well this week.
  6. Oh it got stale, especially if you were a long time reader. They started sliding reprinted articles in slowly at first, but boy they started a recycling program as time went on! The readership kept changing, so to new readers, it was new stuff. It was specifically aimed at an 11 year old audience. But back in the 60's, there wasn't really any way to see all of the stills that popped up in FM. Castle Of Frankenstein catered to a much older reader (and more sophisticated one). It was more serious and less punny. COF got even better for me after the first 5 issues or so, but distribution was a real nightmare. I stopped reading FM after issue 106. In 104 Forry Ackerman used Robert Bloch to write an article to get readers to send FJA a buck so he could keep his place, and that pissed me off. I pick it up now for nostalgic reasons and the great covers. If I want real film scholarship I'll pick up Little Shoppe of Horrors (and a few others) or the sadly defunct Monsters From The Vault
  7. Wasn't there a lot of blue dong in the Watchman series? Or was that just the movie? I like the artist but don't plan on picking this up until it comes out in a tpb. I stopped buying the "floppies" months ago. And if people want to pay outrageous prices just to look at Batman's junk, well, there's one born every minute.
  8. Had my hard drive up and die on me last week. Thankfully I back up every week. Here are some FAMOUS MONSTER additions.
  9. I have seen it on quite a few listings. Whether or not ebay will back you up on it is another story. Again, I haven't sold anything on ebay since 2008, and things have changed in that time frame.
  10. Put in your listing no buyers with less than 10 positive feedbacks. Zero feedback buyers (and sellers) make me nervous as hell.
  11. My mistake. Does anybody recall the coloring book from the 60's that had this story in it?
  12. Stumbled upon this auction literally at the last minute and picked it up cheaper than a raw copy guides for. Fun Infantino/Anderson cover.
  13. Or you can try Mycomicshop.com. You don't have to worry about getting screwed over by buyers abusing the ebay/Paypal rules.
  14. I don't send books off to CGC, I buy them on the "secondary" market. But the Newton Rings may be the catalyst where I bail out of this area of collecting. If there is a CGC book listed on ebay, I'm going to start asking them if there are Newton Rings. Either that or just avoid buying books slabbed since 2016. And we can sit here and debate the cause of Newton Rings until doomsday. The real point is, they are as ugly as your sister's prom date and detract from the look of the book.
  15. I picked up these FM's and the 67 is decades older than the 71 (don't ask). I already had a copy of 67 that I had picked up decades ago from Mile High Comics using their trade system. Anyway, this #67 I snagged on ebay for $5 and it is wonderful. At least an 8.5 if not a 9.0. I may flip my older copy when I compare them. The 71 should be a fun read. Great covers, with 67 by Vic Prezio and 71 by Joe Jusko.
  16. Dammit. That $100 minimum really bites it unless you can combine it. Of course I've heard nothing from ebay and I've been a member since 1998. Sniff.
  17. I liked Predator 2 and Predators. This one will be a rental.
  18. Not comic magazines, but the covers are delightful, especially the FM 83 by Gogos.
  19. Conan. Have absolutely no interest in reading it, or others of its ilk.
  20. Lot to the party, but here is a very low grade SSC 122 that i picked up for around $25. Also a 125 that looks to me to be in the 5.0 range.
