  1. I can recall vividly as a kid when I first saw this comic in the store. Oh man it was such a hot summer day. Good times.
  2. Well over 10 years ago now a C10 AFA slabbed Takara pre rub Megs sold privately for over $20K. I can not imagine what that would sell for today. It would be insane. I have not looked in years but for a long time only two of these existed. Megatron has always been at the top of the short list for high net worth collectors. Another one that is uber rare actually came out in the second wave; a "pre rub" SHOCKWAVE. There were a few that made it through production without the rub sign sticker. These are ridiculously rare. At one point I actually owned one in early 2000's but traded it. Can not imagine how much $$$ I left on the table for this one current day. SOUNDWAVE is another one. GRIMLOCK, Constructicons box set and/or bubble sealed cards. I tell you hunting for these toys back in the day...nothing like it ever. Literally spending a whole afternoon going from toy store to department store. These were impossible to get even back then. Shelves were always wiped clean. The stores would get them in and literally sell out. I was too young to remember in vivid detail, but in 70s with Star Wars I do actually recall walking into a Kmart. They had these enormous bins in the front of the store filled with what I believe were 12 backs. Just not sure if series A, B, or C. But you could get your hands on these. People were not knocking each other over. Transformer was a whole different planet. On Sundays when stores would run sales, you would have lines of people waiting for store open. And there would be a mini stampeded to the toys. I remember distinctly my dad jumped the gate and entered the store running through the exit doors to get an edge and race to the toy department to get me an Optimus Prime. There was a stack of him for I think $19.99. One moment Prime was there and the next, completely gone. Transformers were the greatest era of toys and I believe marked the peak/top. MOTU comes close but you could still for the most part get what you wanted. Supply side was much better in availability. And GI Joe immensely popular but I just don't remember having a hard time getting them.
  3. I am so out of the loop on these movies. Did anything ever come of that awesome cliff hanger where all I can recall was a spec ops team captured one of the Predator's weapon. It was delivered in a suit case to a big corporation and laid on the desk. And fade to credits......Was there ever a movie that built upon that plot or did it just end up being a one-off?
  4. Those original G1 Takara pre rub versions are the most sought after and worth huge ridiculous money in sealed C9/C10 condition. Off hand can't recall if it was C9 or C9.5 but an AFA slabbed pre rub Megs fetched somewhere between $15K-$18K this past year on eBay.
  5. 80 subs 80/85/90. Hit of flap crease. Man that is an awesome story thanks! Same here. I dug through my parents closet to reveal some of the autobot cars they had stashed away for my future gift. I can remember like yesterday, the guilt I felt in peaking and looking in those bags. Funny thing is when TFs came out, I was going through this lemonade stand type phase where I pretended to be running businesses. One of them was a store. So I would actually keep my TFs sealed for days and just look at them and display them. I could not wait to get home from school to open my "store" and meet my customers. The longest I ever held out was two FULL weeks on STARSCREAM before opening.
  6. It almost makes sense to no longer pay immediately. Between eBay bucks promos and these coupon code campaigns, it seems weekly there are opportunities.
  7. Wow I added two slabs to my cart, one was only $25 and checked out with code. I got 20% off the $25 slab too; both slabs This is annoying because I would have definitely gotten more in that range.
  8. You are right. It said one time use. But you can load the cart and it takes 20% off everything
  9. What I did is send out a bunch of messages to different listings asking for 10% to 20% off the BIN listing. Then got some offers sent right to my inbox. So getting the 20% eBay stacked on top actually made it a great deal.
  10. OK so it is happening to me now. I was running a completed advanced search with "sold". Clicked on a few listings and it has this skipping like feel when you click and a completely different listing populates my screen. I believe though as far as determining end price; if you do an advanced sold search, say a broader one to get more listings, you then sort by high/low price and it will organize all the listings accordingly to give you an idea of where price landed.
  11. It was a great weekend of buying. Next time Now that I know folks see that I will keep posting whenever those eBay bucks promos land. Between app and site usually there are at least 2 opportunities a month. From now on I am waiting and only buying with eBay bucks promos or 15% codes posted here. Additionally I really try to stay away from just buying 1 slab given shipping charges have gone up to as high as $15 for just one book on eBay.
  12. I concur with you and am also aware of those variables you cited. But if I am not mistaken, that 9.0 was a CPRd 8.0. I would take the natural presenting comic with inferior page quality in that scenario.
