  1. You could use FedEx or UPS overnight if you have a separate insurance policy that covers you for slabs in transit. Otherwise your only option is USPS registered unless the slab is worth north of $50K.
  2. I literally had a closet filled with cases and cases of this run. Thought I was going to be rich. That and the POTF release on orange/purple cards.
  3. That is right I should have figured you knew. Historically I can not really give you an input. But
  4. There was a 20% coupon in June for "everything."
  5. I have done allot of business with CL over the years. But as a seller nothing of your caliber; most expensive books I sold on there ranged from $800-$1400 a piece. The only color I can add to your comment is that I know for sure there is a boardie who had a ridiculous high grade slab. Something you don't see often perhaps an HOS 92 9.8 or something freaky like that. He listed here in the marketplace and someone from CL reached out to him on here directly. I am not sure if it was Doug or who it was. In that particular instance say where competitively speaking there is a huge value add from marketing/brand recognition side to be the one that lists "that slab" I could see them perhaps having flex on consignment fees (or not.) But major kudos to you for at least asking/negotiating. Not many folks do that. You should try CC and see if that gets you anywhere. I sold some higher dollar slabs on there but this was well before they really blew up and hit critical mass. As a buyer I really like CL. Their communication is tight and Sean always gets back to me immediately. He knows that when I win auctions I want the maximum number of slabs allowed within the shipping cost quantity parameters. So if I win 6 or 7 slabs I will got hunting in the classifieds to get me to 10. And he will pull/combine what needs to be done etc. On the Heritage platform there is always a particular service for a specific individual; right so I get it from your perspective if you are dealing with say OA pieces or upper five or six figure slabs etc. A bid from the right bidder will make the premium moot. But putting those scenarios aside if you are dealing with more practical priced slabs that have stellar liquidity in the marketplace it really behooves you the seller to do your DD. As I mentioned to you previously, I pulled a bunch of listings in Heritage I was interested in just for a reference point. I was surprised at the hammer price on some and most likely this is happening because of the exact reason which you described in detail from the buy side perspective.
  6. The genesis of my post was from the sell side perspective. My instinct is that money is being left on the table in certain instances because of the BP; say for a more common key in the 9.0 - 9.4 range. I did not get a chance to log into my Heritage account to do some DD. But I wanted to pull a bunch of auctions for a IH 181, ASM 129, etc. and contrast end prices against CL and CC. If the prices are at par, then clearly seller is better served elsewhere. This kind of got planted last month when I was looking up some 35 cent price variant auctions for Star Wars and a few other slabs. I was really surprised at the hammer price on several of them (meaning I expected a much higher price.) I would have actually happily paid a couple of the end prices.
  7. You really think you are enlightening me by above description? This goes without saying. Water is wet and the sky is blue. Thanks I know this to be so. Of course you simply factor the BP into your hammer bid. Sometimes text and meaning can get lost in translation because we are in a virtual forum but seriously I can not believe the above narrative is what you interpreted from my two sentence post. This exchange is actually a good lesson for me because I generally keep most observations to myself and don't post "out loud." Will stick with the like, haha, and thanks feature buttons because then you wind up in an exchange like this which is an uber waste of everyone's time.
  8. Wow you are quite a friendly chap. How did you extrapolate a supposed misunderstanding on my end? I was merely saying that 20% when you see that number at face value; it appears to be a bit stiff. But of course I do realize in that particular platform for those types of services, its the standard/norm i.e. Sotheby's etc.
  9. In a previous life I was a quant. I get what some folks on here are saying with respect to this makes no difference with respect to what they are going to spend from a total aggregate perspective/number. But just let that sink in for a moment. Take it in. Granted I have consumed allot of bellvedere tonight so perhaps my intellectual spidie senses are in a different spectrum but seriously 20% BP is absolutely
  10. Enjoy these days. The days of a newborn seem very long with an abundance of sleepless nights but surprisingly I assure you it goes very fast. Time eludes all of us. Cheers and God bless you and your family.
  11. HAS anyone tried the code with multiple items in your cart as you checked out? Last time the 15% code still worked even though it says for one item. Gonna try shortly.
  12. Wow getting allot of bites! Guys just get out there. Make some offers and send some messages. Picked up an awesome SA Supes slab. And I can not believe it. I just scored one of my Copper Grails. A slabs I thought I could never get. Will post in a moment.
  13. Strange. I do allot of buying only for eBay bucks days. I hold off unless I really have to bid on something. They must have an algo or something. Well for whats it worth, I have reached out to a couple of sellers and made a case for a lower BIN and actually received personal offers via message. So getting a few great prices on Bats slabs along with stacking the eBay bucks promo =
  14. On the Q Meg definitely high yes. The MISB red label though, that price is pretty legit. ratchet had an 85 but with box sub 85 that fetched around $17Kish. The spread between the two is definitely $10K or more. But to your point, yes a "sold" example would be ideal. Now eBay is making that very challenging, that is to go back and do advanced searches for sold items. You have to really capture them in real time. I am doing screen shots or tracking bids on items of my own personal interest.
  15. As I alluded to previously for some reason there was a level of fascination I had as a kid just staring at these toys on the shelves or holding them and wondering. I guess in a way it spoke to my imagination. As I got older in particular with MOTU and TFs by 1984/1985 there was almost reluctance I felt quite often opening them and in the case of MOTU destroying the bubbles/cards. But in hindsight its amazing what a difference a little tape can make. SEALED vs. NOT-SEALED
