  1. I was surprised at the #13 as well, I almost bid on it, but I already have one and the grades were too close to be a real upgrade. .
  2. I actually had to go find my glasses to make sure I was not seeing things...I thought maybe the person didn't sell comics.
  3. I think I'm missing something...he also has this in his ad. "all my comics are graded and examined carefully, and all flaws factored into final grades and assessments. (it’s easier to trust the assessments of a seller with 100% feedback and raves about accurate grading!) again, please see photos for additional info"
  4. https://www.ebay.com/itm/166299157788?mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e11021.m43.l1120&mkcid=7&ch=osgood&euid=9eccde7832694094a0d3d5e7b9408a0a&bu=43188192204&ut=RU&osub=-1~1&crd=20230826014102&segname=11021 The person has an awful lot of good feedback, but I think he meant to put Fair instead of Fine
  5. Is that Global shipping? I guess they didn't make the change because I just looked at my purchase list and another item was not only auto paid, they never told me I won the item. That was tonight.
  6. Maybe they got enough complaints that they modified something...because I just got this note in my email. You made a deal at xxx! Next, make your payment.
  7. I was very sorry to hear of Mr. Berk's passing. I just read about it elsewhere. I read many of his posts, and probably shared a PM or two, but only spoke to him once on the phone. He collected bound volumes and I had picked up some at an auction, somewhere, so he wanted to speak about them. He was exceptionally nice. I probably spent more when his auction went up, than I ever had on an auction before. I had a few more books that were not my prime focus, so I "liberated" them...but these are part of my key collection...sorry I don't have better pictures, I had no idea I'd need them. The Thrilling was the one I wasn't giving up on...it's not only a Larson, and I wanted one that was owned by him, but it's also a significant first appearance of a female character, 1st masked female crime fighter. The Woman in Red (which was not even listed on the label.) I'm sure Jon knew that...I wish I could have spoken to him about it. Sad that someone so nice and with so much knowledge to share is gone too soon...Rest in Peace, Sir.
  8. I found out last night that if you read a few pages of a book on Amazon, the author gets a fee. Same with the library. My neighbor is an author, he loves it when someone reads one. I read digital books all the time, I carry a kindle around whenever I think I have to wait somewhere.
  9. I don't know if you are all already familiar with Hoopla, I was just telling a friend about it the other night, but the book is on that system as well. Just log into your local library. https://www.hoopladigital.com/title/13809418?utm_source=MARC
  10. Great Pictures, Kandyce (love the spelling) looks a lot like Regina...
  11. I deleted the card on eBay and switched to Paypal. So it's different I guess. When I deleted my credit card, I could not make an offer or bid until I authorized PP and then they made me sign into Paypal and authorize a card there, through PP, but it said I could change it any time...who knows...I would use a few words here I don't usually use in public, but I don't want anyone fainting;)
  12. Delete the debit card. I had to delete my credit card to get it off. Go to account profile and hiy delete
  13. There are always variables. My nail polish seller is an example of someone who can't possibly be making money on free shipping. She lists something for $5.00, you offer her $3.50 and she takes it and most of the time ships it separately if you don't ask her to hold it. Between the fees, the envelopes, the shipping costs...and the little thank you's she adds, she's pretty much running a charity. I keep thinking of her. Now I (used) buy a bunch of stuff from her and ask her to hold them so she can ship one time, I pay when I buy them...but I'm not sure everyone does that. I feel guilty making offers sometimes, but I find that is what she accepts by looking at her sold items and I try to make it up buy buying other stuff from her. It's kind of the way we started on eBay ...except there were no bins or offers...just auctions, but you talked to people. Most of them really nice people. I guess I started on eBay so long ago, I still remember it when it was just a fun place to trade stuff you had zero use for and a place you could find treasures from your childhood (like comic books) Every time I call they thank me for being with them for more than 25 years...I want to ask when they are going to send me some silver;)?
  14. Not everyone profits when they list free shipping. I was a power seller from when the program started, I sold a lot on eBay for years, not just comics, but stuff I had in the house, things I inherited, things friends inherited...things I was no longer using. Comics I wanted to liberate so I had room for more...so the idea was to sell the stuff, and the last nickel was not important, I wasn't paying rent bills with the money. I learned early on that the best keyword was "free". So many times, I just auctioned things and paid the shipping, or with a bin, tried to get below the lowest sale being offered with shipping. There are also ways (don't know if you can still do it, because I've sold very little recently) to give someone an automatic discount if they bought more than one thing. I've gotten decent deals from eBay and I've gotten stuff drop shipped from Amazon (which made them terrible deals but taught me to check Amazon first for some things) ...I don't hate eBay, just don't love their changes...which is pretty much why I rarely bother selling there anymore.
  15. I'm fine with sellers who build in shipping...I just pointed out that in the past when I did it, there were times I had to ship packages separately. No one is forcing anyone to bid on items that have free shipping. There is a sort button that figures out the cheapest item for your search.
  16. They charge you immediately, once the auction is over, or at least that has been my experience. I called and took my credit card off the system. I left Paypal. I have multiple cards listed with PP, so I can change them up if I decide I don't need more airline point and would rather get cash back. someone who is worried about not having the funds available on one particular credit card, could use PP as well. I also told them my concerns about not being able to combine small auctions, not just for me as a buyer, but for the sellers as well, it's not helping small sellers. There is a separate fee and they can lose buyers. I was told they would send up my concerns, the staff was not happy with the change, but said the were not getting a lot of feedback, so I'd suggest that anyone who wants combined shipping more readily accessible, to call them. All they need to do is enable one more button, "I'm either planning on bidding on a 2nd auction for this seller and or I'm planning on buying more than 1 item from this seller" please allow ( 1, 2 or 5 days)"
  17. In the past, eBay has made you ship each auction that was paid for separately, separately when they are shipped. That might have changed, but doesn't mean they won't go back to it...or that people won't space out purchases. I did some searches for free shipping after my first surprise auto payment, there aren't that many people who offer it.
  18. I have one of those Zodiac books... @zzutak But perhaps he means "collections" like "from the collection of Jon Berk"? the ones with designations on the labels. Sorry, I only have some bank pictures.
  19. What is really bizarre, is they won't let me completely remove my credit card. I'm going to have to call them again and if they don't let me remove it (to stop the automatic payments) I'll call the credit card company. I'm thinking that I might just stop shopping there, it's not a fun activity right now. BTW, I am signed in on a browser when I get this message... "Selecting Delete removes it as a payment method for checkout and selling costs, but not as your automatic payment method. To remove this card from your account completely, sign into eBay on a browser and go to Account, then Personal info, then Payment options."
  20. Maybe eBay Australia is different. We've had the immediate payment for a bin box for years... This forced immediate payment pertains to auctions and to offers. That is what is new.
  21. That option was there for years, this is something new. There is a thread about it on the eBay chat boards under selling. I just posted there. https://community.ebay.com/t5/Payments/How-to-stop-the-automatic-payment-method-for-buyers/m-p/33915958#M175963
  22. Not if you make an offer, or you bid in a auction, this is all new.
  23. That's the problem, the combined shipping. Good question, they are nail polish strips. I started using them after a friend's wife showed me them just before the pandemic. You just stick them on over your nails (it's not much more than that) and you have what can look like you got a professional manicure without sitting in a salon for an hour for about $5 instead of $60. Feel free to tell your wives and have them shocked at what great info you found on a comic board, lol. They are as addictive as beanie babies, people even search for "rare" ones. I am fine with common ones;) If you are careful, you can get 2 manicures out of one package. If you buy them from the website they are more expensive. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2499334.m570.l1312&_nkw=colorstreet&_sacat=47945
  24. I don't see that this was discussed before, but eBay is making a change and not notifying the buyers, you get surprised. I've been doing a lot of buying on eBay recently (nail polish strips, not comics;) and some of them are very inexpensive best offers, auctions. All of a sudden I got a popup saying my credit card was going to be charged when I made a best offer. I got no notification before the popup. Once they enable your credit card, they just keep using it. I was combining shipping on some of these, so it kind of threw me for a loop. After speaking to 3 people who each had no idea what they were talking about, I spoke to a supervisor tonight. Apparently this is something new...because people were not paying. eBay has decided to require immediate payment on everything, using your saved credit card (or other saved payment method. She said that sellers have been begging for this...buyers apparently don't count. I told her that I pay immediately when I buy from a store but that it would be NICE to know that there was a change. Then I was thinking...most stores don't charge my card until the item ships. The good thing is ...I have enough nail polish strips, so I don't mind quitting shopping on there, or at least I KNOW now that there will be an immediate charge if I do decide to bid on an auction. I pretty much stopped selling on eBay a few years ago, but for those of you who shop there and sell there, I thought you might like to know the change. BINs always had an option to require an immediate payment, but this is a roll out on everything.
