  1. Fantastic! No, I've never seen it. Atlas/Marvel did like their cobalt -- I'm not sure why they picked on it so often. Is this a Hulk prototype story too? Thanks, Jack
  2. I liked Rugged Action jes' fine -- what's not to like about a Maneely cover, even an inferior divided-up one? -- but didn't have anything witty to write about it. (Who said, "So what's new about that?") Lorna seems more "ample" than usual on this cover, yet still insists on coordinating stripes with a print. How déclassé. Jack
  3. Great display! What is this issue? Does the indicia title match the cover title? I can't match it up with any cover at GCD. The hand-written note says #5, but there's a [nn] issue in that spot for Teen-Age Diary Secrets . Maybe that one is an error. Thanks, Jack Is that the other Blue Ribbon issue? Duh. Can you explain? Do you mean the cover here or the one as [nn] at GCD? I don't see any Blue Ribbon (publisher?) series at GCD. Link? Is this a case where the indicia title doesn't match the cover? Sorry, but I'm working without an Overstreet or Gerber at hand in my convalescence or I'd figure it out myself. Jack Hey, I will have to look back at the books, but I remember when I got the books that the Overstreet is wrong on the numbering on some of the issues. I will take a look and try to figure it out again. No need --- the explanation from 29dukedog and others is right. Thanks, Jack
  4. Couldn't you post faster?! D'oh! I'll try to do better next time. This 10+ hours of sleep a night thing is slowing me down. YAY! Thanks. Jack
  5. OK, Jack! Now back to the lab...or maybe a coffee break. I HATE it when that happens. Jack
  6. The issue above is Blue Ribbon 5 and the issue below is Blue Ribbon 4. The inside indicia title does not match the cover. It is already fixed in the GCD listing. Got it. It makes perfect sense now -- who wouldn't expect those two issues to be part of a "series" smack between Heckle & Jeckle and Dinky Duck? Thanks, Jack
  7. Element cover! Nice for the price. Jack

  9. Wow! Well done. Maybe there is something special about 346. Was it a "revelation" in the Trial issues? Under-distributed? I'd like to read that storyline, but I'd have to skip 346. Has it ever been reprinted? (Not according to GCD.) Jack
  10. WOW! Great run and attractive copies of the keys. Mine aren't nice slabs like yours, but I'm lacking only 105, 106, 110, 113, 122-124, 214?, 346. I was also lucky to get Showcase 13, 1st Mr Element, a while back. I think that I have 214 but lost the data in a computer crash. 346 kills me -- it's a bargain-bin comic that somehow I never cross paths with. I have doubts that I'll ever get 105, 106, 123, but who knows? Congrats! Jack

  12. Here's the art for the later edition, not the Saunders... Yes, CI Frankenstein had several good covers. I'm pretty sure that's the one I have, HRN 117. Jack
  13. Yes. Compared to Disney's Comics and Stories.....its much less, course there is no Barks work. This book is $50 - $100 - $150 for G - VG - F in the guide. But the lower grades rarely achieve those prices (at least the ones I buy). Thanks. I don't know why I like the feature so much. Interesting to see a crossover. On that page, MJ and S are small but Batty, Bugs and Elmer are large? Why did MJ get small to take presents to Batty? I'm a little confused. Jack
  14. Great stuff. I love the old-school Bugs. Let's have a review of the Mary Jane and Sniffles story! The series tends to be pretty affordable for its age, doesn't it? Jack
  15. I enjoy folk music too, BZ. My wife and I went to a Phil Ochs Song Night last Saturday at the Old Town School of Folk Music here in Chicago. Unbelievable show... I missed this thread first time around. I recommend "M.J. Harris & Martyn Baytes, Murder Ballads: The Complete Collection" to anyone that wants a very different take on the genre. Chilling, and very Halloween. Jack
  16. Hmm -- spider-web fluid designed in the chem lab, swinging in on webs from a shooter, etc. Why is this Queen not mentioned more often as a Spider-Man prototype? Nice skirt, sweetie, if not very functional for action. Crime-fighting action, that is. Jack
  17. A fabulous romance run that you're posting! This one looks like "roofies" to me. Great palette. Jack
  18. OK, what does that mean? I hate to admit that it looks like a vibrating water molecule to me. Jack
  19. YOW! Great laboratory cover. Thanks (I think) for showing me another one to watch for. Jack
  20. Would you call it 50% comics (for GCD indexing) or is it just illustrations w/ text beneath like a children's book? JPS
  21. Great copy Jim but what are you doing slumming with mid grades? It's not a mid grade book, QC at CGC just screwed up and typed the real grade upside down Jim 0.9 seems about right. JPS
  22. Heheheh N'existe pas! Hard to believe that Maggie and Jiggs could have produced Nora. Jack
  23. She's "Good Country People" Jack
  24. Not enough fuzzy gray hair. OLD TIMER!?!?!?!?!?! Jack
