  1. I don't know. Maybe. Fast and Furious at least has the broader appeal of hot cars, hot women and stuntwork. That's a 3-legged stool as old as Hollywood. Suicide Squad? Maybe it will be the mission? Audiences rooting for them to save the world or puppies or something. And a cool soundtrack. Maybe that does it. edit: Never mind. I was just looking up showtimes for Ex Machina and noticed there's a Mall Cop 2 out. Seriously. Mall Cop 2. Apparently there's an audience for everything. Suicide Squad will be just fine.
  2. Take a deep breathe. Exhale. Feel better? What? It's just curiosity. I'm a lifelong DC Comics fan, older, and perfectly fine with not connecting with some of their movies. I'm happy with DC animated offerings. I'm just wondering who it is aimed at. The actors seem too old to be aimed at kids, and the characters too childish to be aimed at adults. So I don't know. Gamers, maybe?
  3. Serious question: Who is the target audience for Suicide Squad? In a 'general audience' sense? Who are they going after? Looking at the stills and fan art it feels like "for hard core comic fans only who already know these characters". But that can't be right if they're expecting a 'blockbuster'. Is it for Will Smith fans? Does he connect with 15 to 18yo audiences? I'm just trying to wrap my head around who would go see Suicide Squad, beyond the comic and cosplay crowd. Who is the film aimed at? At 1st-rumor I thought they'd be going after the GotG viewers with a quirky-but-charming-outlaw-team audiences could cheer for. But I'm not getting that vibe, at all.
  4. They easily could give John Constantine a young female protege to mentor and protect, ala his roll in Books of Magic w/Timothy Hunter. Show her the sorcerer-ing ropes around the DCMU, lots of magical guest-characters. Teenage angst, defiance, humor, a tender moment or two, death, destruction and consequences. Works for Harry Dresden.
  5. Somebody'll be coming home from college Memorial Day and going "Mom!! 3 for $1.00! What were you thinking?!?" That's a fine batch of books. (thumbs u
  6. Yeah, Netflix. Networks really need to update their model for evaluating new shows. I'm an older viewer and I stopped watching shows as they air about three years back. It's just more enjoyable to wait until a "season" is complete and then test-view it. And that trend is probably stronger among younger viewers who use devices more than TVs. Maybe let shows like Constantine, with decent reviews and modest followings, go to DVD and Netflix for the summer, allow a following to develop before pulling the plug on what might be a hit.
  7. Tabloids round 2 w/ candids? Enquiring minds want to know. Sorry, I missed this. In the animated movie 'Assault on Arkham' which is a good warmup to this live moving, Deadshot and Harley have a spur-of-the-moment fling which at the end of their romantic experience she yells 'YAHTZEE!' That photo hints at some of the same may be coming in this movie the way they are looking at one another. Actually I was just about Smith and Robbie kicking up another storm ala 2013's Focus movie, round 2 for Jada and tabloids.
  8. Awesome trailer. :applause:Some fan works are truly amazing. The voicework and styles, spot on. And check this out...
  9. Tabloids round 2 w/ candids? Enquiring minds want to know.
  10. She still looks hot These individual pics look like they are promo shots for a magazine The evolution of Harley Quinn has been downright weird. The 'Harlequin' motif is just about gone in that set-shot. And she began as a psychiatrist, an educated professional, who got mind- :censored:d by Joker, so she was a somewhat sympathetic character, silly/sad and dangerous. That Harley Quinn set pic she looks like a character who's been passed around a few dozen times too many. And what's all over her legs? A who's who of who's hit it tats? What is that? And what are viewers who are meeting the character for the first time supposed to make of her? Crazy murderous hooker? Is that the new motif? She doesn't look "comic book". She looks "any major city".
  11. That one Batman image is badazz. Had to pull it into photoshop and start tweaking adjustments. Pulling out the metals, details, adjust colors to my liking. That's a statue I'd buy.
  12. Someday I hope they do a full length movie. Solar, Dr. Manhattan, Captain Atom, I don't care which. I just think of all the superheroes their type is the most interesting. Gaining the powers of all creation? Yeah, tell me that story. (had high hopes for Scarlett Johansson's Lucy, but it just fizzled out toward the end. Like Luc Besson wrote himself into a corner and lost interest or something Oh well. )
  13. Like that anatomy regeneration scene in Fifth Element, except with today's advanced CG. Would be amazing.
  14. Just watched the trailer and it has the Marvel Intro Logo. So do general audiences make the distinction between "Marvel logo" and "Marvel Studios logo" films? Personally I doubt it. They see a Marvel comic come to life, same as Avengers, Spider-Man and other 'Marvel' films.
  15. WOW. And, well,... dammit. If they released a Restored Color bluray I'd go buy it right now. The difference is HUGE. But what are the odds they'll ever release one?
  16. Just now seeing this and my 1st thought was... so Max Cady did rape Juliette Lewis and they had a love-child? That's all I'm seeing. Max Cady wannabe bs. It's old, not fresh, and already been done much better by Robert De Niro. The only thing shocking is how stale it seems. I take that back. It's a bit shocking what's been removed. The 'Clown' motif that was Joker from day-1 all the way up through Ledger. Gone. Nothing clownish about this fool. No more "Clown Prince of Crime". Been replaced with "Methhead in Makeup", complete with bad teeth and face tat. Yawn.
  17. Did an eBay "Sold" search and raw NM BINs between $30 - $60 seem to've been popping fairly steadily. So there's some level of awareness going on. Time will tell if yesterday's announcement ramps things any.
  18. Coulda been worse... You are not alone... My name is General Zod. I come from a world far from yours...
  19. CGC 9.8 Solar 3 on MCS went for $130 a couple months back. Didn't see any, graded or raw, in their last auction. Ebay's showing one sold in April for $178 http://www.ebay.com/itm/221745744528 So there's some movement on the 1st Toyo Harada/Harbinger at least. Or appears to be.
  20. That's funny, but too true. There are other movies out there, but mainly 3-part excerpts from Justice League and the like. The Thanagar invasion / Hawkgirl traitor arc comes to mind, really good, but I can't think of the 'title' for the dvd. edit: Oh, and Young Justice S2 will be a surprise. Jumps ahead five years, with new character designs. Series long "Invasion" story arc, sort of a graphic novel for tv. (thumbs u One more: Didn't see Superman vs. The Elite on your list. It's an animated imagining of Action #775 "What's So Funny About Truth, Justice & the American Way?"
  21. Here, I'll save you some grief. A 1st-20-minutes sampler, but you'll only need about 3. Apologies in advance...
  22. Don't do it, man. Avoid that one like the plague. Seriously. edit: I don't see the aforementioned 'Batman: Mask of the Phantasm' on your list. It's decent and part of Batman:TAS history. And once you run out of movies, dig into Young Justice. It's movie-quality and 2-seasons worth.
  23. Great point, and maybe that's why they're hangin' back with X-O. Harbinger can be done and presented without going all "spandex-clad" superheroes. Kids with abilities, bad guy in a suit. More sci fi /fantasy, less superfriends. And Bloodshot? Basically a super soldier, so he could be just tactical gear w/ swords. Save the exoskeleton superhero for once their universe is established. Then breakout the uniforms, capes and action figures? Maybe?
  24. That! Guaranteed to bomb. Comic book movies that 95% of the general public never heard of only works if it's Marvel. Don't tell that to Hellboy. Or V for Vendetta. Or Men In Black. Or... V For Vendetta blewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! Or 300. Or The Crow. Or Sin City. Or Scott Pilgrim. Or The Mask. Or... All great movies! Especially The Crow! (thumbs u Or A History of Violence. Or Road To Perdition. Or Dredd. Or Wanted. Or... (thumbs u
