  1. Thanks! I just sold THIS last week. I got it done by Ernie last ECCC. Don't get me wrong, I like Ernie's work, and have a few nice pieces, but this failed to grab me and I felt I had to get it out! I would love to get a Zeck sketch... Like I said, that limited run is probably still my favorite cover run. Sure there is much better stuff out there, but #1 and 3 are two of my all-time faves. I was sooooo happy when they turned the 4 issue mini into 5! Great thread!
  2. Here's a piece done by a friend of mine whom is a published artist. His name is Robin Thompson, and this was a special request of mine. I am happy with it! As far as Punisher comics; for me, it's gotta be the limited run! Man those covers were sweeeeeeeeeet! Cool thread. I am glad someone brought up some HAPPY COMIC THOUGHTS! Here's the piece... 3. Right on Ray! Congrats on the DC Speed Buggy (thumbs u Give me a holler sometime soon... need some help over here ~G
  4. Hey, which ones are they? The stainless ones with 5 shelves??? Thanks! John (thumbs u
  5. Thanks! I have a STACK put aside to get graded. Next sub will be going out this week if all goes well and I am well enough to venture outside. Can't shake this pneumonia thingy! Yes, I'd have to agree, it is one of my faves of the period as well. Part of my collecting "focus" (yeah, is there such a thing???) is on the drug/alcohol stories. This arc is probably my favorite of the bunch. Next being the Adams GA arc. John (thumbs u
  6. A couple books received today... Sorry for the crappy scans. I just built a new machine and haven't "tweaked" it yet. I am using my AIO Epson RX595 and it's scanning software with Windows 7 Ultimate. I may need to break down and buy a new scanner that will accommodate slabs, as I plan on submitting a lot of books this coming year. I FINALLY paid for an e-commerce package; so that means I kinda HAVE TO get my site up and running. I've only been threatening to do it for 4 years now!!! Anyways, on with the show One of these days I'll get the elusive 9.8 on this book!!! More to come, thanks for looking! John (thumbs u
  7. Nice batch G! I especially appreciate the one above... (thumbs u
  8. Nice books Ray (thumbs u So, when are you gonna get that comic room done and post some pics? Do I have to come over there and tune you up??? Speaking of comic rooms; my latest should be all ready by this time next week. Perhaps I'll invite you over for a beer and "viewing". My dad will be out on the 18th, I am sure we'll be venturing down south to scout out a few spots for books. You'd be welcome to tag along if you can find time in your busy schedule. How'd the test go tonight?
  9. She didn't like comics and was probably happier to get rid of them than to get rid of me. The bright side is that I'm now dating someone who likes comics and who is buying her son DC war comics as an incentive for him to do his homework. Two words... LUCKY GUY! I go to bed with a little prayer each night asking to find the "one" who likes/collects/puts up with comics! It would be awesome to have a helper as well. My last girl was somewhat into them. too bad she was a complete nut job and had to be kicked to the curb! I am currently in a "long distance" relationship that I cannot really consider a relationship! She is like 2500 miles away and I see a couple times a year. Although she is the perfect girl for me, it just cannot work the way it is. I don't want to move from the West Coast and it would be a difficult move for her as kids in play. It really is too bad as she is 1) dual citizen (US/CAN), 2) into comics and would dress up for shows to get the "fan boys" over, 3) pretty darned hot! Oh well... not the thread for relationship woes!!! I am glad to see this thread I created a few years ago alive and well. I am currently working on my latest comic room... or shall I say "house". Being a bachelor again has given me the opportunity to showcase stuff wherever I want. I am lovin' it! I have been on the road for the last 8 of 10 months and haven't been able to spend any time on it. I haven't even really unlocked the door to the room! However, I am planning on going on sick leave for a few months as my health isn't the greatest and I need a break. I plan to take FULL ADVANTAGE of the time. Plus, dad (the other half of "TheComicGuys") is coming out on the 18th. That is incentive enough to get cracking and get the room shaped up for him, as he will be spending 80% of his trip in it! It's really cool to still have the 'ol man play a big part in the comic collecting thing with me. We started as a father/son thing almost 30 years ago. Enough... Keep 'em coming folks! John
  10. Sweet book! Makes me wanna go searching for that elusive 9! When you going to come dig with me? I got to get over there and fill a couple of overdue orders!!! ~G
  11. Nice addition to your "Chute run Ray How's that comic room coming? Do I have to come over there and whip you into shape??? GET ON WITH IT!!! And now... A couple of new additions to my shelf space. I am always looking for something to decorate my comic room and pretty much anywhere else in the "Casa Del Geek" It was a good day... Above is the Tim Bradstreet inspired Punisher statue. I pretty much have every other Punisher statue, so it only seemed fair to take this guy home with me. The Spidey/Venow statue is just awesome... no special reason to get it, just looked cool! I have a few other Kotobukiya staues and find the detail just stunning! Sin City Marv (Dynamic Forces) full size statue. I was actually pleasantly surprised when I got home and discovered it was #50 of 199 of the Artist's Proof run Very cool and HEAVY statue! Man-Thing... I am an alligator lover and saw this and knew right where it was going (see below). Nothing special about this one, just cool to look at! "Alligator Alley"... Well, that's all folks! Once I finish (maybe this weekend as I am finally off work and HOME) my comic room, I will post new pics in the comic room thread in general. Now back to watching: The Mindscape of Allan Moore. "A psychedelic journey into one mind of one of the world's most powerful minds". I don't know about that, but so far so good John
  12. Nice book Ray! When are you going to display it in your new comic room and take pictures for us??? I am home for the next while as no out of town work on schedule. When are we going to get together??? BBQ? ~G
  13. Thanks! The two sketches are from Ernie Chan... hung out with him for quite a while at the ECCC, great guy! I am a Gator's fan and Gator/Croc lover in general, so when I saw that Conan piece, I just fell in love with it! The detail on it is quite amazing I am looking forward to getting back home and working on the room. Once the road trips are done with, I will be able to get back into comic mode! I need to liquidate a TON (literally) of books. Having an organized comic room helps me get in the mood. I hate having to try and work with the books when there is an utter mess! Plus, it's great to see the expressions on friend's faces when the door gets unlocked and swung open... I have created a couple of comic collector's by showing off my wares/room (thumbs u Again, thanks! Keep the movement alive!!! John
  14. So glad to see this thread is getting some action! Some really fantastic rooms guys and gals... keep 'em coming (thumbs u I am in the process of getting my latest room together. I have been on the road for work quite a bit, and will be through mid summer. Once the road war is over, it will be time to get the finishing touches put to it. For now, it is just a mess! I did however, framed a couple of pieces of art I picked up at the last ECCC. I am happy with them With a little TLC, I am hoping this room will be my best one yet! When last I moved, I found a "TON" of action figures, toys and odd ball stuff... somehow I am going to try and incorporate it all into the room. Should be fun... Well, I am to be up in 4 hours to start this week's road trip that is going to last 3 weeks! Hopefully I will find some decent stuff in some of the small towns I will be visiting. I have been lucky in the past Below is a pic of the art mentioned above. I have a lot of other stuff scattered down the hallway, bedroom, living room, etc! Ah, the joys of being single again!!! Again, great stuff all! Keep it coming... I know our friend Crows (Ray) is working on his room after me prodding him for a couple of years! Perhaps he'll pull away from War Crack and post some pictures!!! John
  15. Home Depot carries the 5-shelf heavy duty units for $39-$49 when they are having sales, and the wheels are extra. All the same stuff made in china. This is the real deal: http://www.metro.com/ Real deal yes... over priced? Hell ya! The ones from Lowes and Costco are made from same material "NSF Approved" I believe. They hold a 300lbs/shelf and are half of what the "specialty" shops sell for. I picked mine up at Lowes and have literally jumped up and down on the shelves to test them out! Was bored... I believe as long as the "NSF" stamp is there, you're A O K! (thumbs u
  16. Hey ComicDoc, where'd you get this shelving with wheels? ? All the units I see at Home Depot that are similar in construction just have straight legs. A little FYI - Costco carries the same type of shelving unit and they come with wheels. On top of that, they have a 6th shelf, whereas most only have 5. Hope that helps (thumbs u Link to Costco.com - sold out there, but may have in store. $20 off as well until the 3rd of May.
  17. Congrats! Incredible book... I find it tough to come across in HG. One of my faves... (thumbs u
  18. It must be one of those "Underground Comix"!!!
  19. Howdy folks! Well, after spending 5 months of last year in hospital, my "comic room" got a serious downgrade after a move. I am in the process of getting the new digs together... for now, they (2/3rds of collection) sit in a space pictured below A far cry from the first post of this thread. But, I am optimistic about the new space! I have about 10K comics lying around in there (comic room) now. I have another "facility" such as one pictured across the country... maybe one day I will have all of my goodies together in one glorious spot! For now, I will just have to make due with what I have. Some GREAT rooms in this thread folks! Glad to see that it has been getting a little action as of late. (thumbs u So far, this is all that I am showing of the new room. Call it a "Sneak Peek!"... A recent purchase that resides scattered throughout the house! Mostly Sa-Ba with 15% Copper. Some decent books in these "tubs"! Just over 2000 books in this one. Got another collection in the back room that has roughly the same... all BA Best, John
  20. Kudos to the following for promt payments and hassle free transactions: FlyingDonut - Took some Canadian Variants off my hands comicwiz - Again, a couple more Canadians out the door... is there a pattern forming here? Bonds25 - For getting himself some nice GA Archies... at a good deal I must say! and lastly, RikkiB - for surprising me after closing a sales thread! He then wanted a couple of books from within, and of course I wouldn't turn him away! I think I did better after closing the thread! Thank you all. (thumbs u Labels have been printed and the books will go out in tomorrow's mail. For the US purchases - your books are out via USPS. Joseph, yours will be shipped via our slow, expensive yet customs and duty free Canada Post. No, you didn't read it wrong! Johnny gets the job DONE! I am lucky enough to live close to the border. So when it comes to shipping, I ship from whichever country the buyer resides. I live in Canada, but for some strange reason, prefer to ship to and from the US! The price difference is truly amazing! Getting a PO box has saved me a small fortune! So for any local Lower Mainland BC residents... if you ever see something that you want and the seller DOES NOT ship to Canada, contact me! You can have it shipped to my USPS box and I can then deliver to you afterward. I have done this for a few forum members. I am currently waiting on a Statue for our brother Crows (Ray) that was sold by a board member. It was just cheaper and a hell of a lot quicker to ship to the US. Generally, I don't have to pay duty or tax at the Canadian customs. As long as it is under $50, things are good. For purchases over; it all really depends on the person working the gate. There is only GST on comics, no PST so 5% tax usually works out to be cheaper than the difference in shipping! Anyways... If anyone cares to, just PM me... I can supply ref's if need be. Again guys, thanks for the purchases! John (thumbs u
  21. Also today, a couple of Batman books... Can never have too many of these! Question: How does the inked "5c" on cover affect the grade? Lastly, but surely not the least! This is going south as it is a beauty in hand... 3 spine ticks and that it it, that's all folks! Grabbed a few more GA and SA books, but will be posting them in the marketplace so need to post them here. Thanks for looking!
  22. These aren't really titles or genres that I "collect", but I figured I would pick 'em up in hopes a fellow board member may need them... anyone??? This is a pretty nice copy! Haven't had much luck with tape lately! This one has the 1st page torn, it was repaired with tape. The tape was then removed a nasty residue which then transferred to the inside cover
  23. Just picked these up today, along with a few other GA books that I might post in the MarketPlace a little later. While these aren't the highest grades, they are ones that I have always wanted... Super glossy copy. It's too bad about the top spine area No split, just a little chip out. And one of my grails; I am trying to get all of the Drug Related issues (keys). One day I will find a sweet HG copy, but for now this'll do. It's not like you come across these books everyday!
  24. Awesome! Thanks Brian, I am glad that you are happy and that the grading was accurate. I was a little worried that after being away from the books for about a year, that my grading prowess would be rusty... I guess IT IS like riding a bike! Enjoy the freebies, let me know what you think when you have time. (thumbs u
