  1. Hey Sterling... yes, the shelves are adjustable. However, you'll only be able to fit 4 across. So you'd be able to get 20 boxes on the unit. If you have a Costco near you, go there. They have similar shelving, but they come with 6 shelves instead of 5. They also have a little "lip" on the back as well as wheels if you choose to put them on. Also, the main height rods are in pairs. So, if you'd like to "stash" some books in say a closet. You could go with half the height and double the width. good for under windows (wouldn't recommend though) or anywhere else height is an issue. Hope this helps,... John
  2. Good luck, and be sure to let us know what you go with. John
  3. For the wire issue: What I did was bought a wood panel (for walls) Had it cut at the store to fit the units. The boxes slide in and out with ease! You can even get different styles to match your furniture John I gotcha. Great idea. I am thinking of switching from filing cabinets as they are just not working for me anymore. I will sell locally. See first post of this thread... I am MORE than happy with the results. I even have plans for using this method at the storage units. I have the 'ol box on box method there and it is a huge pain in the ! The cost of the panel was around $15 and they cut it for free.. can't go wrong! I used to have my desk in my comic room, it's maple, so I got the matching maple panels. I guess i am fussy like that! John

  5. If I could make a suggestion? It would be to get these: http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=71473-80752-184874B&lpage=none I have the chrome ones. It was mentioned above however, that the black epoxy have less off gasing! I dunno about worrying about that, but who knows? Holds 350lbs/shelf+. 5 shelves fit 5 shorts across. That's 25 shorts per unit. The boxes fit perfectly on the shelves! There will be no need to worry about "sagging". Just a thought... John
  6. Thanks Sean! I just got my 3 cases from Filter81... that's 900! So I was wondering about the actual numbers, as I know he had more to sell. I was checking out the census on them; there are 4 9.9's. They go for an average of a couple of hundred. I don't knopw if I have any and I'm pretty sure I don't. I opened one box, the other 2 will remain sealed. They still have the original distributor's bands around the box. Who knows? Maybe in 20 years they'll be worth $20 a pop! If not, I still think it's kinda cool to have a couple of never before opened cases from 1969. Thanks for the reply! John
  7. Kudos out to Filter81 for some sweet Heroes, INC. Presents Cannon books! I don't care if it was a dud... I think it's cool to own 3 sealed cases! Well, 2 now... BTW - Does anyone know the story on this book??? It states in numerous places that there were only 1800 or so of these printed. It was never distributed and 900 were stolen. I know Adam was selling quite a few cases of these... what's the deal??? Historians??? John
  8. Kudos to QUALITYCOMIX for a couple of sweet books. Brent is truly an awesome guy to deal with! Class act
  9. Nice book I am still searching for a sweet HG copy for myself
  10. wdb23... very, VERY nice room! It is great to see all these different rooms. I am currently working on the second one in my house. I am going to try to eliminate one of my storage units. I am thinking of going with storage shelves that are half as high as the others. That way I can display more things on the walls Again, some awesome rooms here folks! Keep 'em coming... John

  17. Kudos to carcrawfordfan for contacting me privately and apologizing for our little thread hassle. There was no need to apologize, but he is a good guy for doing so! No hard feelings and the race to pull the trigger will continue Thanks again Matt John
  18. No GPA info on it... the only sale listed is for the 9.6: (9.6) - 643.00 - - 643.00 - Jul 2005 National P 1 1971 1 Have fun!!! It's the only one in census... should attract a nice premium! John
  19. The shelving units I use are adjustable. I have the first shelf a good 7 inches off the floor. They are also housed on the second floor. At the storage units, I have the boxes on laminated wood which sits on cinder blocks... again, at least 6 inches off the ground. They too, are on the second floor of the complex. Call me crazy, but I feel a little safer with the books above ground! I have asked this before, but will do again; Does anyone know of an outfit such as "CIA" in Canada??? Insurance schedules run quite a bit on the books and a policy such as one CIA offers would be ideal. If there isn't such an agency, does anyone know of a single woman living in the US who'd want to get hitched to comic geek from Canada??? Photos provided upon request John
  20. Scrooge, truly a great room! Looks like a great place to sit amongst friends and talk comics After seeing some of these rooms, I feel mine is inadequate . Although, I did want something clean and manageable, I think I accomplished that. In order to do a "showcase" style room, I'd have to knock down a wall and make some major changes to the house! That won't be happening anytime soon... I still have my guest room to work on; maybe that will house all of my statues, figures and art. Great to see the thread pinned! I have seen some great stuff in this thread and am anxious to see more over time John
